if it actually took you over 400 attempts just to get to that pickaxe, i would suggest going for full prot 4 diamond armor first instead of a pickaxe

Blocks exposed to air have a 50% less chance of having diamonds since the caves are so big now they gotta balance it out so i got a respiration helmet and go into underwater caves since those walls are exposed to water instead of air they literally have twice the diamonds and you can swim around without having to piller up everywhere on the ceiling and walls it's amazing. Got a full iron beacon in an hour and over a stack of diamond ore with it!

also another tips if you were trying to reset a trade theres few way to do destroy and placing the jobs block may be quick but not efficient place a sticky piston with the jobs block infront of it then place lever on the piston so every time you flick the lever you reset every trade do until you got what you wish
