I love how so many parts of it work in both jet and robot mode. The articulated feet become vector nozzles, the AA turret "head" becomes a ground attack turret, it all makes sense.
Original combat sounds much better than the "remastered" sounds. Remastered should only be to sharpen the animation, keep the sound effects they were excellent
robotech was raw a cartoon in the 80s on TV cartoon that showed people dying, way better than GI Joe, in combat someone has to be destroyed which never happen in GI joe.
This clip is better than most from this series!. This is the un-edited clip of Roy and Rick's encounter with the Zentraedi. What's important is at least 2 scenes which were deemed "graphic" are of one of the RDF Pilots getting killed by a Zentraedi Battle Pod and the other of the Zentraedi Soldier getting shot to death by Roy. Both of those scenes do NOT appear in the US version of the Show. Rumour had it that a lot of graphic content was removed - as it is, the Japanese version of each episode is far better - naturally.
IT DOES APPEAR IN THE US VERSION. Unless you're thinking of the prior Robotech version rather than the Uncut ADV dub, in which case it was put back in in the remastered version.
Well, they also removed the "dee-AAAHHHHHHH!!!" at 5:49 so I'll have to disagree with you. Also the background music was done better in Robotech. The Japanese version is choppy and at times too extreme for a particular scene.
I always wanted to follow the story of Macross from before they explored the galaxy, the first time I followed from Frontier to Delta, if there is time I want to follow the previous generation
You really should start from the very beginning. it never disappoints. it holds up and may exceed even today's mech stories, and that includes macross' own current iterations.

今見ると機首フェアリングが分離後、すぐに反転したり（速度差考えるとあれはね）、翼端車輪がジェットエンジン内に引き込まれるみたいな構造で デザインの甘さはあっても、地上で組み立てされて行く描写は当時はテレビにかぶり付きで見てましたね
この影響が無ければウルトラホーク1号の分離合体は存在しなかったかもしれないし、後年のアニメにおける合体ロボットの発想まで至らなかったかもしれない。

That's pretty much any Macross game except Robotech Battlecry. They use the same engine.
