Mini Cooper F55, F56, F57 arm rest install
This is a video that shows you how to install and arm rest into a Mini Cooper F55, F56, F57 model. The patient in this video is a 2015 F55. This video can also be used to remove the console if you choose to do an arm rest delete.

Does the original cover fit the new compartment
No, you have to purchase cover by itself based on dash pattern
Hi Bryan could you please advise what type of nut is needed for fitting the bracket for the stud that is not used before the bracket gets fitted? Thanks
I don't have one readily to check. My guess is that all the bolts in the area are M8x1.25mm so that's what I would guess. To check, you could remove one of the nuts from either the existing bracket or emergency brake to check it.

No. There is a natural void where the secret compartment goes.
This is a very nice video. I have a 2015 (S) F55 and my interior is quite basic and just black. I’d really like to add a wood grain to the interior of the car.

I don‘t get the middle console back in Place. Can‘t make it past the handbrake even with force. Help needed! Any advice?
Problem Solved. More force..
That and making sure the handbrake is fully up.
Now why would anyone want to do that to a perfectly fine car?

Brill, thank you. I'll be doing mine on Wednesday 😊😊 I completed this and it looks bloody awesome. Only down side was I had to disconnect handbrake as I couldn't get the console over the lever as it didn't go up very far. Other than that, brill vid and thank you... 😊 ☺️
I have an R56 type centre armrest in my garage. Looking at this video I have a feeling it might fit the F56. It screws into the rear screw holes of both front seat inner rail fixings. I'm going to have a look at this to see if it will fit. The R56 armrest is quite a handsome little beast. EDIT: Yeah it fits LOL!
I wouldn't bother - it's pretty much in the way if you have a stick to stir and *completely* in the way if you have BMW's control wheel in your mini...

Has anyone tried this on a 2019 F56 Cooper 2 doors base? I’d love to do it, it doesn’t look complicated. I’m just afraid of buying parts that wouldn’t fit my model year.
I do not know, but I have seen newer minis do other installs and the opening is still there. You can of course carefully disassemble to remove the panel and check. Remember that the panel tabs go under the air vent. Good luck.let me know how it works out.
hi! do you know how to remove just the lid? some coins got through and it doesn't fully open now.
I do not. You may want to remove the arm rest and then try to shake the coins out. Good luck.

Completed this today on a 69 plate Mini Cooper sport II 3 door, using the video in part and certainly beforehand as it gave me confidence in completely the task, it’s worth noting that this is quite difficult. Getting the centre console out is not so bad if your not too worried about the old part but getting the new part in is challenging and do mask up any gloss/shiny areas near the 12v and USB to avoid scratching when pushing the new one in. Also I had to put chucks on the back wheels and push the handbrake button down as this couple of centimetres was critical in getting the handbrake through the gap on the new part. Also not necessary to try and line up the front holes first near the footwell, just focus on getting the handbrake through first, the rest is straightforward afterwards!

I snagged a compartment off ebay used. Will the screws above work for the installation as well or just the decor trim panel?
Just fitted this following your video. Only thing I have to add is that I would cover the shiny black trim above the console at the front with masking tape as I scratched it whilst fitting the new console. Many thanks!

Do you think it could be done with the console in situe and cut the hole with a dremal then just lift the rear of the console up with out removing it and fit the lower bracket ?
Interesting thought. It's probably possible, but you need to bolt the bracket down and I'm not sure of the access to the nuts once the holes are cut in the console. Good luck

Hi how did you remove the original bracket from under the carpet ?
There weren't any brackets under the carpet. There was a small square piece of carpet the I removed around one bolt (bottom left of video, 13:08) in order to install the new bracket. No other brackets were removed. The bolt and missing carpet square are shown on the right of picture at 15:48.

Question for you. I ordered the hidden compartment, but I haven’t gotten the trim cover in the mail yet. Should the compartment close without the trim installed? When pushed, the compartment door doesn’t stay closed and it just springs back open again
Sounds like you have a broken compartment. The trim cover doesn't help it latch.
Not sure if you found an answer the door should stay closed without issue. Link's in description appear to be broken. Search for the part numbers and you'll find the parts you need.

Can you reuse the trim cover that is removed as the cover for the hidden compartment?
No you can't use the trim cover that you removed directly. It does have the screw locations to secure it to the secret compartment lid. I guess you could do some DIY to make it work.

Hi, thanks for the instructions. Is it easy to replace the trim at the steering wheel? I cannot find a similar trim to the one in the car so will have to change both pieces.
Cool, thanks. I have a problem thought with mine: i fill it all the way to the top until the pump "clicks" a few times. But if I then keep the fuel flowing slowly it keeps on filling for as long as I want (my patience runs out before I see the fuel pouring out). It feels like there's something wrong with the deposit air outlet. Have you had this?
I have a 2016, you are not supposed to top off, Mini's have a small gas tank, you can ruin your car by topping off. Not sure how, or why but I heard you can if you overflow.
If the pump clicks, you have enough fuel. It clicks for a reason, there needs to be enough room for gasoline vapors.
Great video! Do you happen to have any shots of the back of the radio? Or do you recall rather or not it had hookups for a reverse camera?
I don't have any pictures of the back of the radio and I don't think mine can accept a back up camera hook up.
Kelly Kimball did you add one? I have the same setup in mine with no camera currently.
I had to add a CarPlay box to get the backup camera. I hope to have a video out soon for that.
