What's the business you'd like to grow with a children's book?
How did you find an illustrator? Was it expensive?
I'm not sure about Ashley, but I found both of my illustrators by searching hashtags on Instagram. I also recently posted a video about a new app called Cara that might be perfect for searching for illustrators, no account required. Expect to spend on average $3-5K USD. It's possible to find good illustrators for less, but not easy. Beware of those claiming to be illustrators, but using stock images or AI instead. Who does your printing and book binding? What are the costs?
Ashley had her books printed through Babooky, which is an American company that prints in China. The cost will vary widely by project and quantity.

Thanks for sharing the video. You mentioned PDF format and dimensions. What is the recommended dimension needed for illustrations in PDF format children’s books?
You'll want to add .25" or 6mm to the height and width of your desired book size. And all artwork needs to be 300dpi or higher before exporting. The pdfs also need to be exported in high or press quality and in CMYK.

1st time listener of the show! The title caught my attention as it is very timely for my family. We are walking through our 4th major loss in 3 years. Grieving with children and talking to them about death can feel so difficult and overwhelming. It's hard for the heart to catch up when it feels like the loss is all happening back-to-back. I was trying so hard to protect my kids from the big feelings of grief and the hard questions in the beginning. My focus has now switched. It has become an opportunity to teach my children to walk with God through the trials and grow in them. We're learning to extend grace to each other in this season as grief doesn't look the same for everyone. We talk daily about the important people we've lost. We cry and even laugh together as we remember them. My kids will know God as their comforter. They will know of His faithfulness. They will know of joy in God's presence. They will know He makes all things new. I'll be purchasing Eric's book. Thank you, Eric.

In relationship to email lists, don't people get perturbed getting unsolicited emails? My email inbox gets so many!
Yes! That's why it is important to grow an email list only from those who request to be on it, such as through a lead magnet on your website. But email lists can be much more valuable than social media for multiple reasons if they are built in the right way (meaning solicited, not unsolicited.)
The reality is, frog button are cute on amphibians and humans! Most newborn babies have frog butts. 🙂

I’ve searched so long for this video. Everyone else is just doing print on demand!! I’ve got a printer lined up and plan on selling it on my own website but I’m having trouble finding out about listing online at places line bookdepository without a traditional publisher
Hey, Mark! Glad you found this one. :) I agree, POD is taking over, it seems. The trouble with getting into places like Book Depository is you need to either have your books available via a distributor such as Ingram, which I believe is the largest distributor, or through IngramSpark, which is Ingram's POD service. And to get access to a distributor like that with traditional offset printed books that you self-published means that you need to show them that you are capable of selling the books by the thousands. It's not an easy feat. You could sell your book on Amazon via FBA, but that's still only Amazon. This is why I recommend a hybrid approach. Keep your board books or other offset books on FBA and personal/local sales, but offer POD options as well for the broader, international market. By using IngramSpark, the book (hardcover, paperback, or ebook) would be pushed to websites such as Book Depository, Barnes and Noble, Walmart, Target (to name some US chains), as well as others worldwide. I also find it helpful to offer the paperback and ebook formats on Amazon KDP because although IngramSpark will push to Amazon as well, you'll get a better profit margin directly from KDP. And as much as I want my hardcovers that I have printed traditionally to sell faster, unfortunately it's the paperbacks on KDP that sell the most-probably 10 to 1 or better.
BTW, a book published by a large publisher would easily get into a large distributor such as Ingram. But again, better said than done.

Can you create endsheets if you’re self publishing in Ingram sparks?
Unfortunately, no. They use blank, white end sheets in the hardcover books.

I was an architect, I told my kid to not being architect.. its hard live like less sleep, low income, competition, regulation, hi cost in tool and application mostly live to pay app licence... If you live in third country.. architect sign noot needed to built.. less job.
That's really interesting! It can be a lucrative career choice in the US, resourcing of you specialize in a specific area of architecture.

For those who don't know there is a Little Free Library app to find all of the libraries near you.
We do State parks and National parks stamps too. I thought you could also collect LFL stamps or draw stamp in book.
Do LFL stamps exist? That would be really fun to use like the geocaching game. See how many stamps you can collect in a book. Or each LFL could offer stickers that are specific to their library? Fun ideas!
Some places have their own person stamps, but I think it would be amazing to have them in each LFL!
