This was a live performance from the 9th of March 2001 in Hall "Bulgaria" with the Orchestra of the BNRadio and the conductor Milen Nachev.

Beautiful tone!

This is probably the greatest live performance of Bach's Chaconne. The mastery of chord technique is astounding as is the perfection and beauty of intonation. However, this piece is notoriously difficult because of its profound musical content. It has a unity of pulse to be maintained as a throbbing leitmotif and most players do not even attempt this piece obviously written by a master of keyboard compositions due to the near insurmountable difficulties. Milanova succeeds in showing that it is possible for a violinist to play with intellectual and musical integrity notwithstanding the difficulties. In other words master pianists and conductors would applaud as well as violinists. Finally, the mood contrasts, the choice of vibrato or non vibrato sustained melodic line and separated bow strokes all contribute to the understanding that a modern violin can show the baroque style without having to resort to becoming a baroque player. This is a magisterial performance and I recommend any violinist simply to copy it as much as possible.

Georgi Badev was amazing! One of the greats of the 20th century. Even more amazing was the fact that in his youth he had a mishap which cost him the first phalanx of his left hand fingers. A victory of mind over matter if there ever was.

Great playing in every way! Musical with the wit and joy of Rossini; virtuosity outstanding! I love the orchestra accompaniment; bright breezy messy in an authentic way. I think this was part of a tour of South America in the early 90's.
