Bang! just in the beginning wrong! Of course the Holy Spirit is proceeds from the Father and also from Jesus! Jesus Himself told his disciples before he ascended to Heaven that he will send them the Holy Spirit as the power from above. Most theologians are not even Christians, so sad!

If a child changes his faith from what they was brought up with you leave them alone faith is a personal thing and it's none of your business what they believe after they are of age unless they are in some kind of cult. Telling someone what to believe is akin to telling someone who to marry !

Hi Katie, I assume you are referring to our new website? The audio file for each week's sermon is found right above the sermon title on the page. You can either stream or download the file. If you are looking for past programs, you can use the custom search box on each page, searching by text or liturgical date, preacher name, etc. It helps to put the search phrases in parentheses, e.g. "Luke 4:1-12" . I hope this helps! Feel free to email us at info @ day1.org

If Christianity believed that, how could they have kept slaves? They lowered the threshold so low for women and slaves, that it is almost impossible for anything harmful done to them to be considered a crime. Look in the marriage, they made the husband a God and gave him the same exalted status as Christ. It is useless to speak of love or sacrifice from husbands. How does love subordinate its equal? What sacrifice? The wife does everything and it is taken for granted, but when the husband does the smallest thing, he is a hero, it is considered sacrifice! They were not consistent at all when it came to women and slaves.

While I can appreciate and agree with Borg’s criticism of various sectarian doctrinal disputes, he uses these valid problems to undermine essential doctrines that all Christians share and which do matter. As Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians, now if Christ is preached as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised; if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. ... If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and your are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If for this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all men most to be pitied. And when Christ talked to the Sadducees, Borg’s spiritual ancestors, they questioned him about the plausibility of a physical resurrection. He responded, ‘You are wrong, because you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God. ... have you not read what was said to you by God, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.’ And when he spoke with the Pharisees, Borg’s other spiritual ancestors, they agreed with him that loving God and loving our neighbor are the greatest commandments. ( ogives the Pharisees believed in Love but conspired to have Jesus killed). So because this was not enough, Jesus asked them, ‘What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?’ They said, ‘the son of David.’ He said to them, ‘how is it then that David, inspired by the Spirit, calls him Lord, saying, The Lord said to my Lord, sit at my right hand, till I put thy enemies under thy feet’? (Psalm 110). You can poke apart at the gospels if you like but the question is still there from the Psalms. If you don’t believe Jesus was raised from the dead then just move on. Call yourself new age or whatever but don’t confuse people, or yourself, by referring to yourself as a Christian. Better to be cold or hot than remain lukewarm.

very simply sold out to religion and has no first hand knowledge of God himself..so sad, no wonder so many have left the religious, it fails to give results that an encounter with a living God does.

Believing in and worshipping a supernatural god or deity IS religion. Believing and living the doctrines of a holy book you believe is inspired by god IS religion. Christianity perfectly conforms to the very definition of religion.

Public libraries are facing similar challenges. How to get people through the doors, and how to update collections and programming to meet changing demographics. I'm always worried about churches that only hold "small groups" for women during day time hours - as if the women in the church are all stay at home moms. That was true in 1970, for my mother's generation. It is not true for Generation X women, and it is not true for Millennial women, but so many churches want to die on the hill of women not working outside the home. It makes it *impossible* to get younger generations of women connecting to your church. Period. Same holds true for younger generations of men.

In the process of my writing a book about "Keeping Faith when Beliefs Change", I have discovered the wisdom of Dr. Marcus Borg and of Dr.Bart Ehrman and others a wonderful help in my keeping faith even though I cannot really believe some parts of our Creeds. The answer comes from LOVE, forgiveness and many other qualities of the nature of God. I am thankful for this help, rather than giving up on my faith, I can grow in the 21st century thinking and still love the God of my growing up years, with some modifications. God is Love.

Dr. Craddock is correct, the preacher should take a course in Speech, outside of homiletics to help him in the act of preaching. Men and Women are dying going to a Christless grave and the preacher is responsible to God to exposit....explain...delivery God's saving message. It's a life or death situation when ever that preacher stands in the pulpit. It is no playing matter. He is to preach as if its the last day before the congregates ....he is to preach as if the hell is burning below the church steps.
