you only need a thin layer of flux at the point where the two pieces meet, where the solder is going to be. It shouldn't really take more than 1min. to be hot enough if you are using map gas, which is the yellow cans. you can just tap the solder to the copper to see if it is hot enough, should instantly melt.

Great point im going to try re soldering again tomorrow. Also painting the rooftop video was a great idea im planning to do mine as well as my roof is 18 years old now. Also i heard that using white acrylic paint can drastically help improve keeping the temperture down. I forget the brand Its pretty pricey but i heard some makes it with ceramic mixed in which reflects the heat from the roof. Anyways thank you for the great contents and tip ! @@jimmylipps8845

I think the average gallon of paint is about 350/400 sqft. So divide your total square footage by 400 and multiple that number by the price of the gallon. I am sure the price per gallon has gone up since this video. That will be the cost of the total gallons needed. Divide by 12 to find price per foot!

It does the trick! its an old milwaukee secret.

The consistency is pretty much the same as any latex paint and as far as the wet paint color, it goes on a little lighter, more of a gray, then dries black.

I ordered it right from the Home Depot website. I don't think they have it in the store. You must order it to the store or your house.

That's an awesome deal! The first portion of the project is complete. A 7x10 concrete patio now sits where that sidewalk was. The rest will be coming out in the spring.

I am unsure why the paint would make them do dry out and crack. I have not read about this. So far mine still look good as new.

The benefit would be changing the color. If someone has a red roof and they want a gray roof, instead of spending $10k, why not use this paint specified for roof shingles to achieve your goals?

I would imagine it is different in various locations. In South Florida I had a green metal roof, painted it white and the house was DRAMATICALLY cooler in the summer time. We noticed a difference immediately

@@christopherjamesrussell Yes but metal and shingles are two entirely different animals.

@@texasRoofDoctor Maybe not Behr, but there are products that will extensively reduce UV waves hitting the shingles in turn keeping them cooler and reducing the radiant heat into the Attic/ceiling. As you mentioned Science. If the sun/UV rays can't reach the shingle it will keep the shingle cooler and everything else under it as well. Lighter colors help in doing this though not at the same level.

@@chrish7336 Yes, thermal gain is the problem. If there is a product out there that actually works I would love to experiment with it. I have just seen so many come and go as a failure with the most hilarious episodes happening when Obama told people to paint their roofs white to save the planet. If you do find out about a product that works or is purported to work let me know. I have several repair customers that would be good test cases.

Right! It does offer a degree of protection. Might make the shingles last slightly longer.

Honestly, I have not tried that. It did not seem too thick. In my opinion it would work. It is latex based so you could cut it with water if it is.

As far as prep, just hose them off and let dry. No undercoat necessary.
