How to run Hybrid Workshops w/ Remote Guests | ATEM Mini Extreme Setup
Every wanted to have seamless interaction between online and face-to-face participants? Join me as I break down a setup that can do exactly that!
The two cornerstones of this setup are the ATEM Mini Extreme and the Zoom Livetrack L-8. Using these in combination with some cameras (This setup shows the GH5 and G85, but the Sony a6600 or BMPCC 4k are also great options), microphones and screens you can create an experience that caters for those tuning on online, or who happen to be in the room.

In most web meeting apps today, 2024, I get audio issues when following this setup. However, if instead taking the audio back from the Atem via usb-c works perfectly fine.
3 x ZV-E10 and you have a super excellent quality 4k HDMI with 7artisans cine lens at t1.05. obviously with Atem at 1080p
90% of the videos I’ve seen on streaming have been made by people associated with a church. Weird.
Have you tried OBS Studio? It is free and versatile.
How much do you charge your client's for the job you do??
Bonus points for the 80:20 rule!
Hi.. the link for diagram and course are didn’t work
Cloud flare is saying the base site is down.
Can my output for the hybrid be Zoom instead of youtube?
Emailing list not working. Excellent video
Says the website is down.
could you please address this broken link issue? I’d love to join the mailing list and get the PDF configuration diagram!
How do you work with latency?
I found this solution Behringer Virtualizer 3D FX2000 Effects Processor time index 6 min 23 seconds in th-cam.com/video/GsnMWPz7RE4/w-d-xo.htmlm23s cheers
Great presentation, from Los Angeles…
Thank you for this video mate, this is really helpful !
How do we prevent video feedback loop in a hybrid environment? We have a camera that is pointed at a projector screen to show the large room but, it's causing a video feedback loop that shows up on the projector screen.
These are the exact type of events that we do all the time, except we use StreamYard instead of Zoom for more control
Hi there, really fantastic video and probably one of/if not the best that I've seen. Could you provide model/make details of the speaker/s and MIC's that you use please and also, do you have any recommendations in regards to the quality of the HDMI cables themselves? Many thanks :)
Great video, BUT when I plugged my laptop HDMI output (I have a MacBook Pro) to HDMI 4 so that it sees my laptop as another camera and started zoom (changing all the settings as per in the directions and changing video to BM from FaceTiime internal camera - it starts making multiples of the screen and keeps scrolling - reminds me of when you back up to time machine, and it is scrolling through all the dates. Tried moving to HDMI 3 and 2, but it does the same thing. The laptop is connected with USB C to USB C (A) on the Atem extreme ISO. What am I missing?
Where did you get your motion background?
The grain effect is a stock asset on loop. I created the diagram in Canva, exported it as transparent, then animated it in Premiere Pro over the top of the grain video. Let me know if you have any specific questions
Minute 14 - The other way to avoid them seeing a visual loop wouldn't it make sense to do a supersource? Do a zoom drone computer and your in room video. Idk if I missed that in your video but with the extreme that would be a good workaround.
Good idea. Super source is so powerful. Another great reason to go for the ATEM Extreme
Thanks a lot dear for such a wonderful masterclass. Regards
This is quite possibly the best video on this I have found. I work for an online university and we want to improve the production quality of our webinars/lectures and also have something afterwards we can repurpose, so this has been incredibly helpful. Thank you for making this (and feel free to make more 🙂)
Wow. That’s complicated but you did a great job explaining it
Guys you are genius OM how simple and yet brilliant it can be
Probably the best video and definitely my TH-cam Chanel creator of the week for me. Or perhaps even a creator of the month !
Can you explain the crowd camera and how that works. How do you set it so the Zoom speakers only see the crowd
Outstanding video. We’ve been wanting to integrate zoom with our livestream setup for our Sunday school and mid week Bible class. I wasn’t sure how to set it all up. This video has been very informative and helpful. I will come back hopefully later this week to let you know how it goes. Thank you so much.
It's been a few months but how did you go?
I think I’ve watched about 50 videos on the Atem extreme. This is the most useful and interesting take by far
Hi, I am a beginner. Need to learn setting up live stream using ATEM Mini extreme, rodecaster pro 2 combining stream with zoom, Facebook/TH-cam. Do you have any specific course or package? Thank you.
Bro this channel deserves waaaaaay more views. This video is exactly what I needed to see for a project I'm currently working on. I'm pretty sure the Holy Spirit is and will be using you. Thanks a lot!
i'm genuinely impressed with this video. nice job.
Great job. I'm currently designing a livestream for a client offering hybrid in-person/online training. I found your video extremely helpful. Thx
Hello bro, excelentissimo video. Congratulations. We are in the same branch operating in Angola. I'm sure we've had some knowledge of the excellent content trafficked here. Health.
Great video! Timely also. I run, to the little best of my ability for now, the visuals probono for my local church within the AV team or any Faith-based programmes any church member has in my state and this video has just made my day. Thank you so so so much Sir and may God bless you all immeasurably.
Fantastic video! I've now transitioned into this exact set-up for my organization's hybrid events. One big question, though: Do you have guidance on how to configure the L-8?
Hey Alex, thx for the awesome video. I really can not say how often i wtached it ofter last few months. But I just wanted to asure: I have 3 outputs i can control complety independant? So i can say the Atem that i now just want to switch the sources of the USb Output and so on, right? Because in many videos i saw the people showing the "outputs" menu button of the atem and there just appeared 2 soruces, the 2 HDMI's Thanks i advance. Cheers!
Thanks Flasch. I'm glad the video was helpful to you. The USB-C can only output the 'program'. It can't independantly 'preview' seperate sources like the HDMI output can. In otherwords, it can only see the final show. This can be an issue in some edge cases. I mention it in the limitations section of using it to feed the ZOOM chat, you can create a video feedback loop if you cut to them on full screen. You can't just keep one camera angle for them the whole time as they are seeing the final output, cuts and all. If you want that ability, you could instead feed a computer with one of the HDMI outputs and use a cheap USB HDMI capture card to plug it into the computer. Or use a HDMI splitter. Let me know if that answers your question :)
mahalos for the wonderful graphics and video . i was wondering about audio feedback when using a different sound board not so enabled for zoom as yours seems to be . it maybe safer to take audio from the camera shooting and then cut to the zoom with the sound from that computer whilst definitely shutting off the sound from all other sources . mahalo again
Cheers! That's definitely a work around if you don't have an audio mixer with a mix minus. It all just depends on the scale of your audio needs.
@@digitalministrymasterclass9421 this video and the graphics really helped to establish some basic foundations with regards to how we should set up; with of course the caveat of no zoom board . when we actually did the livestream i did get to delay the sound coming into the mix of hte cameras about 3/29.97 frames per second; about one tenth of a second with the ATEMmini extreme . this allowed for the hdmi camera delay of pic and audio . when zoom came into the stream picture i had no computer to take pic or audio from unfortunately . my friend then aimed the camera at the screen and we output the sound from the computer running the zoom directly to the sound system . it worked even with the mics on that same system going live, like a normal conversation on zoom . they had back and forths . i think this could be done sending the zooms picture and audio to the ATEM however we might have had to set up in the way stated previous or possibly have an awkward delay of 6 frames . not sure about that tho . in any case mahalos so much
@@digitalministrymasterclass9421 oh yes one more caveat . i think with some streaming services they can stream your output from the ATEM straight to zoom without the picture needing to go to the computer as a source then to zoom networks from that computer by adding zoom as a destination somehow on hte ATEM . this could make less of a delay potentially and sync the two up ..... maybe
At out contemporary arts Center we use Allen & heath sq5 for audio + vMix (vMix call for interviewees + can connect zoom audience & laptop presentation via ndi) + blackmagic television studio 4k. It’s not optimal bit this is what we had :)
Whatever gets the job done!
what is a TRSS ?
very comprehensive and relevent content. Thanks
It's the "new normal" sigh.
Thank you for the video :) I am practicing with a similar set up. One issue I am having is that when the presenters laptop sends a video the quality is very poor for the zoomers. Slides and PowerPoint with no sound are just fine. When a video is needed to be shared I am sharing from within zoom and the zoom participants get a perfect video. Any tips on how to improve the presenters laptop video quality that the zoomers end up experiencing on their end ?
Hi @CelloDan, it could be a few things. You can turn on HD quality sharing within zoom for video. Within Share Screen advanced you can change make sure the frame rate limit is unchecked. You can turn hardware acceleration on. It could be a limitation of the presenter's laptop. When a presenter goes to share a video there is also an 'optimize for video clip' option. Hope that helps!
Going live next week and practicing today with a couple of different configurations. I think I prefer the second on which starts at the 3:50 mark. Any comments or suggestions appreciated :) th-cam.com/video/nhCsw1tstm0/w-d-xo.html
Great content and nice touch of humor and very genuine
Great video, thanks for your effort!
Hi Mate, loved the vid, I almost understood it all! I don't work for a church, but a Veteran organisation. I am looking at putting together something like this for training and regular meetings of advocates around the country. At the moment we use Teams and workplace, which are great, but on their own using webcams, don't look as good as they could be. We currently don't utilise all their functionality, like integrating Microsoft whiteboard and other screens to show MyGov for tutorials etc. I'm considering getting an ATEM and a Rhodecaster pro for a proof of concept to show my boss (hopefully they'll reimburse me!). I'll think about your course to gain some knowledge. Thanks again.
Cheers Keith! Good luck with levelling up your meetings.
Can you explain how the L8 and a laptop (using Zoom) are specifically wired? My laptop only has a headphone jack.
Great video. I believe some church (the majority) don't innovate due to strong connection to tradition. But with Paul like mindset on becoming "all things to all people so that by all possible means we might save some".
Wow, love that set-up, just in time for my next client. One question, in the Zoom laptop, I Sign In Zoom as a Host or Join as a Guest?
I'd be signing in as the host to have more control. But if you were joining someone else's Zoom it would still work tuning in as a guest too.
Very good explanation of a hybrid setup. I wish I had the brain to fully understand it.
I have faith in you Pete!
This is incredible! As a pastor with limited time to edit and take things to the next level I have learned so much. Please keep making these. It’s also a great example of what can be. Many churches have no idea what can be. Well done
Hi, I like this setup and want to test this next time, using two Mini's since I dont have the Extreme. But I can't see how the sound from the laptop running the presentation (it could be a video with sound), will get through to Zoom since all sounds is taken from the mixer. Any Idea how to achieve that?
Good question. You'd want to plug the Presentation Laptop's audio output into the mixer. So the mixer is still controlling all the audio. That way you can pass laptop Audio to Zoom and the in-room amplification. I tried to think of a way to do it via the Laptop passing Audio to the ATEM via HDMI, but to avoid feedback that's more trouble than it's worth. The laptop should easily be able to route video via one cord, and sound through another. You may need a small audio interface, or just an adapter to change the 3.5mm audio jack to XLR or 6.35mm jack
@@digitalministrymasterclass9421 Thank you for the answer! Yes, that's probably the safe way around this. I did however make a test using the Sound Control Panel in Windows 10. In the "Recording" tab and "Properties" there is a "Listen" tab. I checked the checkbox called "Listen to this device" after selecting the USB from the Atem. This actually routed the sound from the Atem to the headphone output. I can't say this is a good solution yet, so I will have to test this more later on.
Hi, i got a sharp frequency feedback when i use the Master out or any of the 3 mix minus headphones out to the Atem Mini. Did you have this problem? or what cable did you use to send the audio mix to the Atem Mini Pro?
Sorry to hear that! What are you using for your audio mixer? Where is the feedback happening? If it's a feedback issue, I'd suggest drawing a diagram of your system to try and spot what is causing the feedback loop. Draw every input/output audio source on both the Atem and your audio mixer. It could be in the mix-minus routing, could be in the speaker/microphone placement. It shouldn't be a cable issue. It's a TRRS cable. Make sure the Atem audio inputs are set to Line In rather than Mic In if you are sending line-level audio from your mixer.
