Welcome to Sun Coast Creations by Sheila! On my channel you will find informative videos on various types of art including flow art, working with resin, and making jewelry. Much of my work is designed and created as a result of my passion for Gulf Coast living. I am not an expert (yet), but am learning from some of the best. I hope to provide valuable tips to the beginner as they step into the world of working with resin. As a master's prepared Registered Nurse, my passion has always been teaching, and helping others to be their healthy best. Working with the various art forms and providing tutorials checks both of those boxes as art makes us happy! I hope you find something here that helps you on your journey. I am an Amazon Associate and earn bonus on products listed in my video descriptions should you choose to click on the link and order.

#226 Open Back Bezel Abalone Shell Jewelry with UV Resin and Gel Nail Polish
มุมมอง 216หลายเดือนก่อน
Welcome to Sun Coast Creations by Sheila! In this video, I make pendants and earrings using open-back bezels and abalone shells. The process is four steps long and takes some time to complete. While I use a high and low-viscosity UV resin, you can use one of either type to keep costs down. I used the following products in this video: Let's Resin UV Resin Low Viscosity: amzn.to/3MTnch7 Let's Res...
#225 Let's Make a Beach-Inspired Lazy Susan
มุมมอง 472 หลายเดือนก่อน
My obsession with beach-inspired home decor continues as we use epoxy resin to make a coastal-designed lazy Susan. This project takes approximately 2-3 days to complete, so the video tends to be a bit long (approximately 20 minutes). I use liquid latex to protect the surfaces I do not want resin to stick to. Do not use this if you have a latex allergy!!! You can use masking tape and cover areas...
#224 New Techniques for Making a Beach-inspired Charcuterie Board
มุมมอง 4543 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today, I am using new techniques to create a beach-themed charcuterie board. I typically apply masking tape to the back of projects where I know resin will run or accumulate. Rather than taping, I apply latex, making resin removal much easier. Please do not use this technique if you have a suspected or known latex allergy! Next, I am applying color over color for a more profound, more rich effe...

#221 Does this "Resin Bubble Remover" Really Work?
มุมมอง 5404 หลายเดือนก่อน
We have all seen the advertisements for the Resiner's Bubble Remover machine. In this video, I put the degassing chamber to the test. There are a couple key takeaways I want to share. First, follow the manufacturer's directions and recommendations to the letter. Resin with thicker viscosity many need to be run through the machine for more than one cycle. You may also need to use a 9-minute cycl...

Don't miss a single step of this fascinating process as we make a mold using Let's Resin Silicone Rubber and a delightful turtle figurine. I've constructed a frame from sturdy cardboard and a sheet of transparent paper, carefully placing the turtle within. Then, I poured the silicone rubber over the top, ensuring it covered the turtle's head by about 1/2"-3/4". The climax of our adventure was a...

#216 Trying Something New with Acrylic Pouring Paint and Epoxy Resin for Beach Coasters
มุมมอง 885 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I try 3 new things when making beach coasters. First, I use acrylic pouring paint in resin for ocean colors. Second, I make waves using a different technique. Third, I try out a heat mat to cure my project more quickly. This is a long video (about 32 minutes) due to the number of hours/days required for the work, so make sure to watch when you have time. You can always fast forwar...
#215 Getting Started with Epoxy Resin - Simple and Fun Soap Dish

Tips: room temperature should be 74-82 (follow manufacturer's recommendation in the instructions), when mixing the resin stir slowly in a circular motion keeping the stir stick in the resin, scrape the bottom and sides, and let sit for at least 5 minutes to let bubbles dissipate; ensure your surfac...

#213 Fun & Simple Coastal Giving Hands Planter/Trinket Dish
มุมมอง 406 หลายเดือนก่อน
This simple video demonstrates how to make a "dish" that can be used as a planter, trinket dish, or holder for anything you choose. I use a deep pour resin by Nicpro, metal copper paste by Baltic Day, Let's Resin bronze mica powder, and glitter dust. Because of the depth of this mold, I used a 2:1 deep pour resin to avoid flash curing. If you make this dish, please come back and leave your pict...

Loved the video, do you have more?
Yes! I have a whole TH-cam channel with them. Should come up under Sun Coast Creations by Sheila. Thank you!!
Hello Ms. Sheila, oh those are adorable! TFS! Blessings to you my friend. Have a blessed week. ✝🙏🏼💕
Thank you! You too!
Hello Ms. Shelia, WOW that was so cool! Love the large board with the 2 layer effect!! Are the shells sticking up over the resin? TFS! Blessings to you my friend. Have a blessed week. ✝🙏🏼💕
Thanks! Yes, they do stick up over the resin. Have a blessed week yourself!
Hello Ms. Sheila, I have been hesitant on making a beach theme project. I need to get some sand and give it a go. Love how your board turned out! TFS! Blessings to you my friend. Have a blessed week. ✝🙏🏼💕
It's actually not too hard to do but takes time for sure. Have a good day!
Hello Ms. Sheila, that's a cool idea. My son gives me fake flowers for special occasions. I told him I like those the best because the last forever. I might have to try this. Then I can have more flowers out.🤣🤣TFS! Blessings to you my friend. Have a blessed week. ✝🙏🏼💕
Use a deep pour resin!
Hello Ms. Sheila, This was very cool! Never seen this type of painting before. How long did it take for them to dry? TFS! Blessings to you my friend. Have a blessed week. ✝🙏🏼💕
It dries in about 24 hours but takes a bit longer to completely set. I would cover it with epoxy resin if I were using a different canvas but this one was an experiment.
Hello Ms. Sheila, Oh I remember taking Home Ec classes. My son did not have Home Ec classes. He also went to a special needs school. The one that you ran through the debubbler is definitely more clear looking when you had them sitting side by side. TFS! Blessings to you my friend. Have a blessed week. ✝🙏🏼💕
Hello Ms. Sheila, Oh that turned out gorgeous! TFS! Blessings to you my friend. Have a blessed week. ✝🙏🏼💕
Hello Ms. Sheila, Sorry I have been off YT for a couple months as my husband had a stroke. Thank the Lord he is doing better. He actually goes back to work tomorrow (06/17/204). I have put all your videos that I am behind on & given them all thumbs up. Whats the difference between the green & white? WOW that is awesome! TFS! Blessings to you my friend. Have a blessed week. ✝🙏🏼💕
Prayers for you and your husband. Not sure what you mean by green & white.
Not sure if you are aware, but the video is only filling half of my screen for some reason. Maybe it's just me?
It is OK on my end. Let me check with other users. Thanks for letting me know.
Beautiful!
Thank you!
how do you polish and seal and is it necessary
You do not need to polish and seal your epoxy pieces per se, but it is recommended. I like to do it when I have to sand edges or if I have small scratches. It is helpful for coasters, soap dishes, or anything that may come in contact with liquids. Polishing makes your pieces more shiny. Sealing may protect them so they last longer. Here are two different items from Amazon I have used: Premium Resin Polishing Kit, Epoxy Polishing Kit, Polishing Compound for Epoxy Resin High Gloss Finishes: amzn.to/3Xkl7RL NOVUS-PK1-8OZ-PM | Plastic Clean & Shine #1, Fine Scratch Remover #2, Heavy Scratch Remover #3, and Extra Polish Mates Pack | 8 Ounce Bottles: amzn.to/4dq2xgo
The boards are beautiful
Awwww. Thank you!
I Have been Dying to try this technique, but I know it’s gonna be a lot of trials and errors getting it to the Beaty They can Become.. I got to say your Very first attempt is absolutely love the red one also... Thanks for sharing this flower Journey and you have Inspired me even more to get in my Studio and Go to Flower Making. 💗💜🤍💗💜🤍💗
Counter clockwise?
?
@@suncoastcreationsbysheila239 You were stirring clockwise?
I always stir clockwise LOL. Sometimes I might go the other way but not usually.
Thank you for the demo, try using black card to show the bubbles. They show up far better with a darker background 😊
@@yvettecapuano2521 Indeed! Thanks!
Help. A friend from New Zealand gave me a big box of Abalone shells as a gift. The problem is most of the pieces are quite big and won’t fit very well into my bezels. I’ve looked everywhere for information as to how I could cut/shape them without buying expensive equipment, to no avail. Do you have any abide on how to cut them. Thank you ❤️🇮🇪
Greetings! I have never tried to cut them, but I, too, have some larger pieces that need to be cut. I purchased a Dremel on Amazon (amzn.to/4bMOelh), which has disks for cutting that could work. Consider renting a tile cutter or taking them to a store like Lowe's or Home Depot (or a tile store) to see if they would cut them for you. I read that abalone shell dust can be toxic, so you should wear a respirator or N95 mask (which we should do when working with anything with particulate matter :) ). Let me know how it goes! Would love to see pictures!
I find using a dowel or pencil and roll it over the bezels while pressing down ensures good adhesion to the tape without you getting stuck to it.
Hello Ms. Sheila, Oh that turned out gorgeous! Love the colors of the flowers! TFS! Blessings to you my friend. Have a blessed week. ✝🙏🏼💕
Thanks so much
Thank you!! As a beginner, this is exactly what I needed to see!
So glad! That's my goal!
Hello Ms.Sheila, I love the colors! TFS! Blessings to you my friend. Have a blessed week. ✝🙏🏼💕
Thank you! You too!
This is pretty. Your tape slipped around a lot. You can take 4 magnets in the corners underneath, then add 4 on top for a great hold. Since you are in the US, bezel is not pronounced like you say: use it like bed(short e or b+eh). Not long e. Only Aussies say it like you do. Thanks for the instructions
Thank you for the suggestion! My name is Sheila so perhaps there is some Aussie in me LOL. Yes, I discovered I pronounced it wrong within 2 minutes of posting the video, but once out there, there was no way to change it. Have a great day!
Hello dear, I have two questions for you by the time I get done there may be more lol I love your work. Can you tell me because I could see your iPhone in the reflection? How do I learn how to use my iPhone to make videos to put on TH-cam? My next question is how do you clean out that measuring cup that you use since it’s plastic?
Awww. Thanks for the kind words. I attach my iPhone to an overhead phone stand for recording (the one I use can be found at amzn.to/3UWf0Sf). I simply go into the camera on my phone, select video, change the settings in the upper right hand corner to 4K and 60 and hit record. I transfer the video to iMovie for editing, and then up to TH-cam for publishing. It's fun but a lot of learning and work! To clean out the plastic measuring cup I simply spray it with alcohol and wipe it out immediately when done. There must be some silicone in it because it does wipe out pretty easily. :)
Hello Ms. Sheila, Those turned out really cute! At the end you said you were going to seal the soap dishes. What do you mean by that, please? TFS! Blessings to you my friend. Have a blessed week. ✝🙏🏼💕
I use a polish to shine and seal all of my resin work. I use this product by Novus, but there are some specific for epoxy resin: amzn.to/4bCfVN2. Sorry. I misread your comment and didn't answer appropriately.
Hello Ms.Sheila, What a cool concept! Bummer that the middle petals turned brown. I like the design. Oh, I love the blue one!!TFS! Blessings to you my friend. Have a blessed week. ✝🙏🏼💕
I have a really good sized UV lamp however, your lamp is the business! I’m going to have to invest in one…
It's nice and big...does the job. Here is the link on Amazon: amzn.to/44E9Z3V
I personally think that using the black resin is a waste of money….. I use epoxy and black ink….the bottle of ink will give a lot more project
I have black paste on order to try that. I think it will also provide a deeper black as sometimes the black resin can look a little thin. But it is also so nice to work with. I literally do not have to worry about bubbles. Thanks for your comments!
Hello Ms. Sheila, Love how your planter turned out!. TFS! Have a blessed week.
Thank you! Have a wonderful week.
Thank you! Have a wonderful week!
abalone shells...we have a seafood here in new zealand called a paua, pah u wa. they have beautiful shells too and i think are in the same family except yours has white meat and ours have black/green meat so im told. would love to see the shells you have
Interesting! The company I order the shells used in the video is in New Zealand! It does say abalone/paua on the container.
Can you please zoom in more on the actual work? Such a small project and half the time your hands obscure the project. Less table top and more of the project. Thank you😊
Yes, thank you. This was one of the first videos I did so was a learning thing. Still trying to figure out what to do with my big hands and how to keep them out of the way.
I've used resin for some time but am not comfortable with the bezels.
It definitely takes a minute to get used to them. I think the JDiction tape makes all the difference in the world. The bezuls stick nicely and the tape comes off clean when removing. For me the trick is to not overfill them with UV resin. Keep trying! :)
Très très jolie est très mode encore une perfectionniste très bien exécuté bon travail félicitations❤❤❤❤😊
Je vous remercie pour vos aimables paroles <3
Any way you can get your camera closer to the jewelry you're making?
The camera has been a bit of a challenge for me as I have large hands, which get even larger. This was one of my first videos, and I think I have done a bit better with trying different angles and closeups. Appreciate the feedback.
Those are BEAUTIFUL ❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
Those are beautiful but I’m confused, are these flat then on one side?
Yes, they are flat on one side, which I wasn't crazy about, but it does allow for personalization.
So pretty!
Thank you! 😊
Maybe zoom you camera in when you record, can’t see anything.
Yes...thank you. I have big hands for a girl and need to find a way to work so they are not always in the way! A bit of a challenge and this was one of my first videos so I'm learning from all of you. Appreciate the comments.
Very pretty. Thank you for sharing. Going to be getting into resin will be trying to make the coasters
Good luck! Start simple and watch a lot of videos! I believe you can message me on my TH-cam channel. Would love to see your work!
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing
Pretty
Beh-zul
Yep. That’s why I put it phonetically in the title 😂.
New subscriber from Australia, this is my first video of yours. I really love your necklaces with the Abalone shells. They are very beautiful and yes you say the word with the E on the end, at least here in Australia we do lol. Doesn’t really matter does it cos we all know what you are using ands we all say things differently. I’m really. Looking forward to many more of your videos. I’m hoping to learn different things from each different video I watch. Im only just going to start with resin so I’m looking forward to it and I’m trying to take in everything you all are saying. Ive also purchased UV resin and am waiting for it to be delivered along whiten the moulds etc. thanks for sharing your work with us. I am going to try and watch some of your earlier videos too, there’s a lot to learn, for me, about resin and as I’m older my brain seems to take longer for things to soak in so I’m trying to watch as much as I can.
Awww. Thanks for your sweet reply. My goal is to help beginners get started and maybe avoid some of the mistakes I've made along the way! I'm fairly new to the video side of things so I'm still learning there. Appreciate your feedback!
It’s generally called abalone with the ee sound on the end here in the states, too.
Those are gorgeous!! TFS! Blessings to you my friend. Have a blessed week. ✝🙏🏼💕
First time watching your video. Just trying to get into using resin. Thank you for sharing.
Oh great! Watch a lot of videos! Start with something simple like a soap dish or coasters. Jewelry is fun with UV resin too!
BEAUTIFUL WORK! what is the name of the the tape you were using to hold the frame down with and where can Purchase some? please
Thank you! The tape is JDiction UV resin tape and this is the link on Amazon: amzn.to/3JmShZ8k. I just added it to the description in the video as I didn't realize I hadn't done that. I do like this tape much better than some of the others.
A very interesting process 👏👏👏Beautiful pendants 💐👍
Thank you so much 😊
These turned out pretty! ❤ I was nervous seeing your open abalone package on the edge of your desk. I know if that were me, they would've ended up knocked off and all over the floor. 😂 Btw, NE Florida here 😊
LOL...it's usually a cup of resin I knock over! Admittedly I have large hands for a woman so I can be clumsy working with crafts! Welcome neighbor!
Beautiful!!!
Why do you pronounce bezels “beezels”?
Because I was fairly new to jewelry making. I did comment about this in the description, and people have been kind enough to correct me. Thanks for your response.
Hello Ms. Sheila, Oh I love all 3 of those channels! I've done these pens for my son. He loves them. I have 2 of those mats. I love them. The pens turned out really cute! TFS! Blessings to you my friend. Have a blessed week. ✝🙏🏼💕
