Pather Panchali(1955) : The Selective Detailing(Video Essay)
มุมมอง 29K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Pather Panchali is regarded as one of the greatest Indian films ever made. In 2010, The Guardian ranked the film 12th in its list of 25 greatest arthouse films. Soon after Its release, it was categorized under Italian Neorealism. However the details are not used here for the sake of information, it communicates with us profoundly. Details have been used very selectively. This is our attempt to ...
Buddhadeb Dasgupta : Poet Of Cinema(Video Essay)
มุมมอง 3.9K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Buddhadeb Dasgupta is one of the few Bengali directors who used magic elements extensively in his films. Over the years, he had developed his style of filmmaking, which he preferred to call 'Extended Realism'. This video essay examines his style of filmmaking in detail. Movie clips: Dooratwa (1978) Neem Annapurna (1979) Tahader Katha (1992) Lal Darja (1997) Uttara (2000) Mondo Meyer Upakhyan (2...
damn i had only seen the first movie so those spoilers for the later 2 films gave me a whiplash. great video although id suggest adding a spoiler warning for those films as well at the start of the video next time.
Beautifully crafted essay amritendu.. thank you
I find this scene is very similar with a film called mirror by Andrei tarkovsky
Why tf would you spoil the next two movies ?
Hey is it possible that we could connect someone. I have a business prospect.
Keep up bro🤍🫡
Excellent video and what a loss for a cinephile like us. Very well-researched and scripted. I wish more Bengalis understood him and his work and that he gets the same level of appreciation as Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, or Ritwik Ghatak. I see a lot of inspiration in his work from Tarkovsky another maestro of cinematic experience and visual poetry. The opening scene of the room reminds me of the room in "The Mirror". Anyway, keep posting such videos so that future generations can learn from them. Set aside the deeper meaning, his films are astonishingly beautiful and should be watched on big screens to remind us of the essential qualities of good cinema.
leftist moviemaker greatest western slaves brown britishers
I could and never will consider a leftist view of Bharat greatest . Because it's heavily demeaning. Film id great director is great but I don't consider it to be a Greatest Bharatiya or a Hindustani film at all it's anindian great movie director but not greatest indian either
Waah kya baat hai
Don't get you;. What do you mean.
Reality is demeaning, unless you accept that you rightoids will have a soft double digit iq limit
This movie is for Bengali people, not for Indians
Please don't consider...your opinion doesn't matter...world has already recognized him as greatest Indian director
Thank you very much for this informational video ❤😊
The bgm is so celestially fitting
In tears...you reminding me of its greatness...

These films should re realise in the theatre now
Totally agree.
Great great great work....
Great analysis. I can understand why Satyajit Ray is known as one of the greatest.
He is an institution. So much to learn from his cinema. We're happy to hear your feedback. Will try to capture more South Asian cinema in the future.
A seminal and formative film, not just for me, but for modern India. A great analysis. Thank you.

Once more Amritendu has shown us the details of Pather Panchali in a subtle way with a valuable description in the centenary year of Satyajit Ray. Thanks to all the members of Cine cat worked behind the video. I want more video on Ray's productions.
How beautifully and gently Amritendu explains and analyses everything. I now have a newfound understanding of one of my favourite movies.
