    Thanks for your video...considering buying my first kindle. Couple questions. if you buy a book on kindle, is it always yours on your kindle? If you get a kindle unlimited book, is it on your kindle until it's no longer unlimited? Does the audio book also have the words and audio at the same time? And does the signature paperwhite come with the charging pad?

    • @girlvsplanet
      @girlvsplanet 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you buy a book on Kindle, it will stay on your Kindle and in your Kindle library to download on any Kindle device. Kindle Unlimited is more like a borrowing library. Books from KU will stay on your device, but there is a limit to how many you can have at once.

    • @girlvsplanet
      @girlvsplanet 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also, usually the audio book doesn't come with the ebook, it has to be purchased separately. There are some on KU that are an exception, but not a lot. I don't think the signature comes with a charging pad, but I don't have one, so I'm not 100% sure!

    • @girlvsplanet
      @girlvsplanet 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This isn't dumb at all! I've actually been thinking of making a video about this. So, you can go buy pretty much any book on Amazon, but there are definitely ways to get them for cheaper or free. If you have a library card, you can borrow and download books through the Libby app on your phone and send them to your Kindle, although a lot of times there is a wait and you have to put a hold on it if you want a specific book. Also, there is Kindle Unlimited from Amazon, where you pay a monthly fee (like $12) and there's a lot of books you can access for free on Amazon that way. Hope this helps!

      KU is awesome. I’ve had it for a few years, maybe 8 or 10. They have a lot of books. Not sure what’s your preferred genre, but they have a great variety of books. And I feel like most authors (at least romance writers) have started to publish their books in KU more than before.

    Good overview... I've Never had a e-reader(LOVE physical books) The Basic is out for me... the Water "Proof" / "Resistance" is a must for me. For $30 more its well worth it, along with the bigger screen I've noticed that I'm not buying books as much($$$) and not reading(or even rereading) as much, as a result Kindle Paperwhite(16gb) $159 CND vs Signature $209(32gb) CND... Still haven't made up my mind, although I DO like the versitility of the Signature. If you get heavily into Audo, or Comics etc. the extra memory may be something useful. The main issue with E-Books are that they are NOT expandible if you get into "other" things. You HAVE to upgrade, great business idea but... Now you do have cloud storage, but having my library elsewhere that I don't have control over isn't something that makes me very comfortable. For the extra price, I've got No intrerest in the Oasis... not to mention I've heard of many issues with the buttons either not working or turning pages at random(making it unuseable really). Although I DO like the extra space to hold it.

    I have a kindle fire 10th gen and the battery life sucks but the biggest reason I haven’t switched to a reg kindle is the text to speech feature. I do know there is an option to turn on a speaking feature but it reads everything you touch and do as well as read books. The fire doesn’t do that. It only reads the book. Enjoyed this. Just bought mine several weeks ago. I'm not sure I'll read much on it because for me it feels too big. However, I'm using it to journal. I've kept a handwritten journal for many decades, using fountain pens with a ton of colors of ink. So, I am using both - the Scribe for writing in bed and the hard copy journal for writing everywhere else. If I go out to journal, I'll just take the scribe, and have a journal and kindle with me. A few comments. When I close a journal, it shows up on the home screen, which I don't like. If only what showed up was the journal cover, not a handwritten page. Also, on the Library page, at the bottom is the thumbnail of the last book I opened. So for me, that is usually my journal. It means anyone looking into my kindle (say borrowing it or the person on my family library) can more easily tell I'm journaling. So on the library page, after I journal, I then open a random book, which becomes the thumbnail. I'm one who doesn't use a lockscreen on anything unless the app requires it. I reluctantly turned on the lockscreen. You might have found this by now, but if one goes into the kindle app, say on one's phone, and clicks "more", one sees "notebook", and it opens. The kindle premium pen seems to work on all android devices which allows handwriting. I've bought an extra for my Boox. It doesn't work for Apple/iPad. Another use someone might appreciate is having a sketchpad notebook. I'm have to fiddle around to figure how to move highlights & sticky notes into their own notebook. I haven't tried that since I hasn't basically journaled on it, not read. Nice review. I appreciate your clarity in speaking!

    • @girlvsplanet
      @girlvsplanet 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your comment. One thing I have done with the notebooks is that I always make the first page the cover page. Then instead of using that page for writing, I draw my own cover. Doesn't prevent someone from going into it on your device, obviously, but I do think it looks nicer than just having a page of handwriting show up on your Home screen.

    I have the Kindle Scribe and like it very much. As a reading device it lacks the ability to remove books from the home page to the library where the collections are. Organizing your books is important so the home page isn't being cluttered with new books you have purchased or books you have read but don't need them on the home page any longer. The Kindle App on the iPhone, iPad, and Fire have the capability to remove the books back to the library and into collections. Amazon software writers please help the reader have the control for a more pleasant reading experience.

    Two days ago, I fully charged my New Kindle Scribe, expecting its renowned battery performance to be on par with my beloved Paperwhite. However, after reading a book for an hour and utilizing the notebook feature for a similar duration, the battery level has already depleted to 80%. This significant drop has left me wondering whether such consumption is normal for this device. Having been accustomed to the impressive battery retention of Paperwhite, I would like to hear your feedback on the matter. Thank you!

    • @girlvsplanet
      @girlvsplanet ปีที่แล้ว

      My first thought is that maybe the battery depletes the first 20% or so more quickly and then slower after that? If it’s depleting a lot in just a day, I’d check with Amazon to see if there’s an issue with it. Mine can go for days or even weeks without a new charge so far.

I've also noticed doing a lot of notebook work will drain the battery more quickly. At the end of the day, I charge mine every couple of weeks, which is perfectly fine for me.

      Right now I’m traveling and don’t have mine with me so I’m not 100% about this, but I think when you are reading the book and touch the top of the screen for the menu, there should be a notebook icon. If you tap on that, it should bring up a notebook with your notes and highlights from that book.

Kinda clunky, and I’d still prefer it houses with the notebooks but ah well.

      As far as eye strain, I think it’s about the same as other Kindles, but since you can make the text bigger and fit more on a page, that definitely helps!

    Are you able to lasso specific sections on a page in a notebook and email it? Or are you able to email a single page in a notebook with multiple pages? Thank you for your time!

      I think so far I’ve only been able to email entire notebooks, but I’m not sure. I will check! I do know that just in the short time I’ve had the Scribe, they’ve released several major software updates to it that have continued to improve it, so I would expect these would likely be things they could add in the future.

    I think this would have been SUPER helpful in college. I always remember stuff better when I hand write notes and it would have been less distracting than my iPad or laptop.

    I went to Palm Desert in January to go look at a house for sale with my realtor. I took my father with me who lives in Orange County, California. When we went down Hwy. 111, He loved the view of the mountains when we were arriving to the house that was for sale, too bad that someone beat my bid for the house. My father has been to Palm Springs, Ca. but he thought the mountain views were beautiful compared to Palm Springs. Especially in the morning. Wish me luck in searching for the right house.
