Aspects of early universe cosmology: gravitational waves and cosmological model selection
Sydney CPPC Seminar 14th November 2024
This talk will be divided into two parts. In the first part of this talk, I will discuss the recent evidence for a stochastic gravitational wave background (SGWB) as seen by pulsar timing arrays (PTAs) and its interpretation as a signal of early-universe origin. I will highlight the role of SGWB anisotropies, focusing in particular on kinematic anisotropies, as a diagnostic tool to identify if the observed SGWB is of early-universe or astrophysical origin. The second part of the talk deals with the issue of cosmological model selection in the framework of Bayesian inference. This requires the computation of the Bayesian evidence, which can be highly challenging if the underlying cosmological likelihood is expensive to evaluate. I will discuss how a technique called Bayesian Optimization, based on Gaussian Process regression, can be used to calculate this evidence in far fewer likelihood evaluations, offering a much more efficient approach compared to traditional methods.

Hi, i also want to work in this area, could u plz guide me?
Dark matter is dilated mass. Mass that is dilated is smeared through spacetime relative to an outside observer. It's the phenomenon our high school teachers were talking about when they said "mass becomes infinite at the speed of light". Time dilation is just one aspect of dilation. Dilation occurs wherever there is an astronomical quantity of mass. This includes the centers of very high mass stars and the overwhelming majority of galaxy centers. The mass at the center of our own galaxy is dilated. This means that there is no valid XYZ coordinate we can attribute to it, you can't point your finger at something that is smeared through spacetime. In other words that mass is all around us. The "missing mass" needed to explain galaxy rotation curves is dilated mass. Dilation does not occur in galaxies with low mass centers because they do not have enough mass to achieve relativistic velocities. It has been confirmed in 6 very low mass galaxies including NGC 1052-DF2 and DF4 to have no dark matter. In other words they have normal rotation rates. All binary stars have normal rotation rates for the same reason.

Studying neutrino is a study of low energy
Hello Monica !!! 🎉🎉❤
Dark times require dark matters.
Казахстан. Who will help create a working group involving students to work on new experiments? It is necessary to conduct direct experiments with direct proof of the constancy of the speed of light. For 119 years, by determining the constancy of speed of light, all experiments and Michelson-Morley experiments are indirect and incomplete. If the Michelson-Morley experiment was carried out on a bus or airplane and was used to determine speed. only then will this experience be direct. Therefore, Einstein does not rely on the Michelson-Morley experiment. Question. Do you have an example of such direct experience? New technologies, new research tools Let me suggest for schoolchildren and students on one's own to measure the Universe, dark energy, black holes, etc. To do this, I propose two practical devices. «laser tape measure *+reference distance* 1,000,000 m”» and «Michelson-Morley HYBRID Gyroscope». I am writing to you with a proposal for the joint invention of a HYBRID gyroscope from non-circular, TWO coils with a new type of optical fiber with a “hollow core photonic-substituted vacuum zone or (NANF)” where - the light travels 500000 (In a laser tape measure, the length of the optical fiber is fixed at 1000000 ) meters in each arm, while it does not exceed the parameters 94/94/94 cm, and the weight is 94 kg. Manufacturers of “Fiber Optic Gyroscopes” can produce HYBRID gyroscopes for educational and practical use in schools and higher education institutions. Einstein dreamed of measuring the speed of a train, an airplane - through the Michelson-Morley experiment of 1881/2024, and only then would the experiment be more than 70% complete. This can be done using a fiber optic HYBRID gyroscope. Based on the completion of more than 70% of Michelson's experiment, the following postulates can be proven: Light is an ordered vibration of gravitational quanta, and dominant gravitational fields adjust the speed of light in a vacuum. you can make scientific discoveries; in astronomy, astrophysics, cosmology, higher theoretical physics,... (We are not looking for ether, we will see the work of gravitational quanta) The result is a «theory of everything» in a simple teaching device and a new tape measure for measuring the universe.
The fundamental phenomenon of dilation explains dark matter/galaxy rotation curves. Mass that is dilated is smeared through spacetime relative to an outside observer. It's the phenomenon behind the phrase "mass becomes infinite at the speed of light". A graph illustrates its squared nature, dilation increases at an exponential rate the closer you get to the speed of light. A time dilation graph illustrates the same phenomenon, it's not just time that gets dilated. Dilation will occur wherever there is an astronomical quantity of mass because high mass means high momentum.

13:16 On the “dark” invariance. 0.Comparing with Einstein's equations of 1915, we find a=-c^3/16πG. Strictly speaking, in order to determine the constant a, it was necessary to make a transition to the Poisson equation. Thus, a rigorous derivation of Einstein's equations can be given. 1.The transition to the non-relativistic limit allows us to determine a constant factor for the integral of the gravitational field according to: R(0)^0=(4πG/c^2)p; Δφ=-pc^3/4a=4πGр, where a=-c^3/16πG. 2.Therefore, the Poisson equation can be written as: ∆g(00)=8πGT(00)/c^4, where g(00) is the time component of the metric tensor (for a weakly curved metric the time component of the energy-momentum tensor: T(00)~=pc^2). This equation is true only in the non-relativistic case, but it is applicable to the case of a homogeneous and isotropic Universe, when Einstein's equations have only solutions with a time-varying space-time metric. Then the energy density of the gravitational field: g^2/8πG=T(00)=pc^2 [~ħ/8πc^3)w(relic)^4: bye the way]; where the critical density value determining the nature of the model is: p=(3/8π)H^2/G. Hence it follows: g~πcH. And according to the strong equivalence principle: g=|a*|=πcH [~r(pl)w(relic)^2]. 3.However, а*=-2πcа/M (universe), what is F=M(universe)а*=-2πса=-с^4/8G=-(⅛)F(pl). Expansion is a special kind of motion, and it seems that the Universe is a non-inertial frame of reference that performs variably accelerated motion along a phase trajectory, and thereby creates a phase space. P.S. 0.From Kepler's third law follows: M/t=v^3/G, where M/t=I(G)=[gram•sec^-1] is the gravitational current. By the way, in SR: I(G)=inv; this follows from the Lorentz transformations: m=m(0)/√(1-v^2/c^2) and t=t(0)/√(1-v^2/c^2). Hence, obviously, we have I(G)=m/t=m(0)/t(0)=inv. 1.In the case of the Universe: I(G)=M(universe)H=m(pl)w(pl)/8π=c^3/8πG=-2a (~ the "dark" constant~inv), where M(universe)=E/c^2 is the full mass of the Universe, and the total energy E is spent on creating a phase-quantized space-time: m(pl)w(pl)=8πM(Universe)H; { w(relic)^2=πw(pl)H. H=c/L, where L=8πn’r(pl) is the length of the phase trajectory, n'=4*10^61. 2.H=1,72*10^-20(sec^-1). By the way, it turns out that the universe is 1.6 trillion years old! The area of the "crystal sphere": S(universe)~n' λ(relic)^2~n'S(relic). That is: Δφ=-pc^3/4a=рс^3/2M(universe)H^2; and intra-metagalactic gravitational potential: |ф0|=πGm(pl)/λ(relic). 3.The critical density value determining the nature of the model is: p=(3/8π)H^2/G. And Δφ=4π[с^3/Gm(pl)w(pl)]H^2=4πH^2; which is evidence of a phenomenon: spontaneous Lorentz transformations. 4.Thus; Δφ(0)/Δφ=w(pl)^2/H^2~6,4*10^121, where Δφ(0)=4πw(pl)^2; the “best” prediction. Addition On the self repel. 0.“Giving the interval ds the size of time, we will denote it by dт: in this case, the constant k will have the dimension length divided by mass and in CGS units will be equal to 1,87*10^-27", Friedmann, (On the curvature of space, 1922). 1.[The ds, which is assumed to have the dimension of time, we denote by dт; then the constant k has the dimension Length Mass and in CGS-units is equal to 1, 87.10^ ± 27. See Laue, Die Relativitatstheorie, Bd. II, S. 185. Braunschweig 1921.] 2.Apparently, the following expression takes place: μ(0)ε(0)Gi=1, which means that Gi=с^2 where i is inertial constant, i=1,346*10^28[g/cm]; or k°=1/i=7,429*10^-29[cm/g]: k(Friedmann)/k°=8π; where k°=r(pl)/m(pl). 3.For clarity, let's draw an analogy. In electrodynamics, a circular conductor detects the properties of two conductors with currents flowing in opposite directions, since for each section of a conductor with a current on the opposite side there is a reverse current flow. Thus, the conductor is self-repelled by the magnetic force: F(m)=μ(0)I(e)^2, where I(e) is the electric current. 4.Then the force of inertia is: F(i)=(1/i)[I(G)^2], where I(G)=mw. That is, the expansion of the mechanical system is due to the inertial force of self-repelled (it is clear that this is not an anti-gravitational force). 5.In the case of the Universe; the gravitational current flowing along the phase trajectory: I(universe)=MH, respectively, the inertial force of self-expansion: F(i)=(1/i)I(universe)^2~F(pl).
give me $40 I'll solve it.
A significant part of a "Superconducting SuperCollider" was built in Texas in the early '90s. The politicians lost their nerve and the project was cancelled.
Hey maybe a dumb comment but since the facilities are under ground even though they are quite controlled environments is it possible there is an unaccounted for base line of radon already present due to the difficulty of detecting ultra trace amounts of radon and that the facilities were likely recently built meaning in the last ten twenty years or so resulting in more radon in the environment knowing the family breakdown of it no matter how well thought out the lab was the actual building and possibility of human error leaks into the environment itself could be a main cause elevation and possibly even in a space environment could allow for better circumstances.

We truly dont know the age of the universe. Rhe cmb keeps being revised when proven false by a new telescope and more excuses given. The jwst again requires that date to be pushed back. The sad thing is that all of this is based on a false concept of inflation. Hubbles observation makes no sense for the expansion of the universe, unless we are at the center of the universe. Because the expansion is based on proximity to earth. So there must be another reason. But if you look from the other side of light. Its travel to us, not our observation of it, then it makes sense. At this point you are saying light doesn't slow down according to Einstein..the trouble you then have is that C is also supposed to be the max speed anything can go. But Hubbles constant shows that the expansion is faster than C. As such Einstein's model doesn't work. We also know with refraction that light does slow due to different medium it travels through. And as you know space is not empty. As a result if you then consider the slowing causing redshift, and calculate it with regard to some of the furthest galaxies, we get an avg of 4.6mm/s/year. A decrease we would not detect from experiments on earth or measuring to planets in our solar system. Then as the universe seems not to be expanding or contracting significantly , we can let go of the dark energy and much of the dark matter theories. Which would explain why we keep not finding it despite all our efforts, and the fact that we should because we can detect gravity. It is the primary functions that are in error. One simple one being that if you look at an expansion from an explosion, all the matter expands from a central point. So given we are not the center of the universe, most stuff we see should be travelling relatively the same as we are away from the center. Not as we aee it, expanding in relation to earth. Our observation should not affect galaxies so far away that the earth did not exist when the lught we see started. So why would our observation of it 13 billion years later make any difference to it? That would be like us going to a nazi death camp and it cganging ti being a place the jews were cared for and granted wealth and prosperity because we went there last year. So the entire model is the problem because all us based on the falacy that light doesn't slow(in a vacuum). Ignoring that even in space is not a pure vacuum. Relativity itself is also flawed from the perspective that qe are not in our won universe but on the same planet affected by significant firces. But that is another situation.
Fascinating. Well done.
8:50 “This new type of universe in its other properties resembles Einstein's cylindrical world." (A. Friedmann, "On the curvature of space", 1922).} Developing Einstein's hypothesis of a cylindrical world, Einstein's theory of gravity "migrates" into phase space: due to this, it is quantized. Expansion is a special kind of motion, and it seems that the Universe is a non-inertial frame of reference that performs variably accelerated motion along a phase trajectory, and thereby creates a phase space (according to general estimates, this acceleration is: |a|=πcH)*. Real gravitational fields are variable in space and time, and we can now talk about the fact that it is possible to generate a gravitational field in a non-inertial frame of reference (|a|=g).That is, finally achieve global (instead of local in GR) compliance with the equivalence principle. {"Giving the interval ds the size of time, we will denote it by dт: in this case, the constant k will have the dimension length divided by mass and in CGS units will be equal to 1,87*10^-27", Friedmann, "On the curvature of space". You can also use the Unruh formula, but with the addition of the coefficient q, which determines the number of phase transitions of the evolving system for the case of variable acceleration: q=√n'=λrelic /√8λpl , , where n'=L/8πr(pl) is the number of semi-orbits; L=c/H, is the length of the phase trajectory.*** Thus, T*(relic)=[q]ħa/2πkc (=0.4K), which is in order of magnitude consistent with the real: T(relic)/T*(relic)=2,7/0,4=6,7. {However, there is no need to have a factor of 1/2π in the Unruh formula in this case.} ------------------- *) - The equations of the gravitational field can be arrived at based on the Poisson equation: ∆ф=4πGp, and for a weakly curved metric, the time component of the energy-momentum tensor: T(00)=pc^2. Therefore, the Poisson equation can be written as: ∆g(00)=8πGT(00)/c^4, where g(00) is the time component of the metric tensor. This equation is true only in the non-relativistic case, but it is applicable to the case of a homogeneous and isotropic Universe, when Einstein's equations have only solutions with a time-varying space-time metric. Then the energy density of the gravitational field: g^2/8πG=T(00)=pc^2, where the critical density value determining the nature of the model is: p=(3/8π)H^2/G. Hence it follows: g~πcH. And according to the strong equivalence principle: g=|a|=πcH. **) - w(relic)^2=πw(pl)H, |a|=r(pl)w(relic)^2 =g=πcH, intra-metagalactic gravitational potential: |ф0|=(c^2)/2(√8n')=πGmpl/λ(relic)=[Gm(pl)/2c]w(relic), where the constant Gm(pl)/2c is a quantum of the inertial flow Ф(i) = (½)S(pl)w(pl) = h/4πm(pl) (magnetic flux is quantized: = h/2e, Josephson’s const; and the mechanical and magnetic moments are proportional). Thus, the phenomenon can be interpreted as gravity/inertial induction. {Final formula:ф(G)=-[w/w(pl)]c^2/2, where ф(G) - is Newtonian gravitational potential, w - the frequency of the quanta of the grav/inertial field (as vibration field); according to QG/GR. The grav-inertial field is characterized by a spontaneous flow: J(Gi) = (v'/π )(1/4π) g^2/G, where v'/π- phase velocity of field evolution [v’=r(pl)w] is determined from the relativistic expression of Kepler's second law: сr(G)= v'r = const. Can be tested experimentally in the laboratory at the moment.} m(pl)w(pl)=8πM(Universe)H; { w(relic)^2=πw(pl)H. From Kepler's third law follows: M/t=v^3/G, where M/t=I(G)=[gram•sec^-1] is the gravitational current. In the case of the Universe, I(G)=MH=c^3/8πG (~ the "dark energy" constant). ***) - n' =4,28*10^61; w(pl)=(√8n')w(relic)=8πn'H; where H=c/L. H=1,72*10^-20(sec^-1). By the way, it turns out that the universe is 1.6 trillion years old! The area of the "crystal sphere": S(universe)~n' λ(relic)^2~n'S(relic). r=2.7*10^29cm, L=2πr. The phase velocity of the evolution of the Universe: v'=πcr/L=c/2, where c=√2(v): the "second cosmological velocity" in relation to the proto-universe. {In general, the masses of galaxies should be estimated as follows: M=tv^3/G=(c/2G)rv', since the evolution of the system makes an additional contribution to the overall picture, and thereby clarify the problem of "dark matter".} Addition In an arbitrary non-inertial reference frame, the equation of the total mechanical energy of a particle system is: ∆E=A(internal)+A(external)+A*, where A (internal) is the work of internal dissipative forces, А(external) is the work of external non-conservative forces, А* is the work of inertia forces. In order to preserve the mechanical energy of the system in a non-inertial frame of reference, it is necessary that ∆E =0, however, in an arbitrary non-inertial frame of reference, it is impossible to create a condition for fulfilling this requirement; that is, ∆E does not =0 in any way (by the way, in system C, the condition for fulfilling the laws of conservation of momentum and angular momentum does not depend on whether this system is an inertial or non-inertial frame of reference).
In the beginning there was no advertising. Now there are too many abusive, _sovereign cult,_ advertiser interruptions. Abusive advertisers don't offer a way to say 'no' without a monopoly payoff. Abusive advertisers profit from militarily enforced Exclusive Economic Zones, monopoly currency and Apartheid concentration camps full of brown people with black hair. Remember that a statement of sovereignty is not secular.
I think I'm in love (With this content) Question1: have we experimentally gotten to energy that was present at t= 10 to the negative 13? Of a second (can't find scientific notation on keyboard) Question 2 have you seen or plan on incorporating AI code enhancement tools like nvida voyager? (Can figure out Minecraft, may eventually figure out the figure-out-able)
Dang, Anne-Katherine doing all that talking bout helium-4 abundance got me all excited ! she is sexy ! w00t ! w00t ! LOL
Keep up the great work Cliff
Great talk! Really enjoying this video. about ten minutes in as an "armchair scientist" (so its probably not valuable to say much more) 😂 but... Very interesting stuff!
Dude Seth Koren is awesome
Hello, this might not be on topic as I am posting this to a number of channels but it is something that I have considered but not seen mentioned in any videos or books before. In relation to electrons and photons and how they can sometimes show particle and wave like properties there is something which I think would make for a great experiment if we can in fact trigger a single photo to be fired. If one photon is fired off then would two observers see it? Is it just one particle that flies off in one direction or does it emanate from the source as an expanding sphere? If it is a single particle emitted from the source then how is it possible there are so many of them, what I mean is that if we can see light from a star that is 10 million light years away then someone that is another 10 billion light years past that object can see it as well which means this light can be seen at any given time from the parameter of a sphere with a 20 billion light year diameter. if you were to consider the amount of atoms it would take to cover such a sphere, even just one atom thick that 20 billion light year sphere would contain more atoms than that of the light source and yet it can be seen from any given point on that sphere considering there is no obstacle blocking the photons path. So then how it is that a photon is just a particle, if that were the case there wouldn't be enough photons coming from a source to allow it to be consistently visible from any point. Just quickly I want to add that I am having trouble getting some communications because of some of my work and research being hijacked by some departments in Melbourne Australia and I have been attacked and people given the run around and diverted, Identity theft and all sorts of fraudulent activities and it has cost a lot of people a lot of time and wasted a lot of opportunities in order to claim my work and research is someone else and giving them the credit. It is a big problem which has stopped me from doing anything worthwhile and instead of any support they tear me down as though their yelling and screaming trying to discredit me will be foiled if any credibility is given to me. I cant find the right people to work with in order to get some things started. It is a big problem. I don't work or associate with anyone because most are constantly trying to run off with my work and ideas and claim it is theirs as it has happened many times over and I know it happens because it is unique and original. This video seems to stop after about 38 minutes - is there an issue ?
Waste of time and money. Change focus from atomic particles too create an energy model of the universe instead of Einsteins creational blunders. No big bang, no muon's. It 's only faulty math.
Perhaps *all* movement is teleportation. If so that would make the transfer of all information, in matter and radiation in spacetime, an emergent property of the evaporation of Planck scale primordial gravitational wells. It also means that everything, even every thought, is recorded.
Hey, shout out to the lithium problem! This is way above my level as someone who is just starting to really grasp the fundamentals of group theory, but even so, I enjoyed this talk quite a bit. Thanks to Dr. Koren for explaining all of this, and thanks to Sydney CPPC for sharing the video! It is incredible that educational content of this level is available and accessible, and I really appreciate it.
In a world where a couple billion people lack fresh water, there is mass starvation, weather catastrophes, continents of plastic killing ocean sea-life, deforestation and massive species loss, 1,000,000 new humans added q 4.5 days, this man's impressive intelligence could come under better utilization. Research in particle physics at this point in time makes as much sense as going to Mars.
I think the speaker has done far more toward the intellectual public good than you might imagine---supererogatorily, and at a great personal cost---and their privilege of thinking about theoretical physics has been well-earned.
Dr Turner, cute af!
I kinda see what youre saying here, but I think Jesus would disagree.

It is a lie you have evidence for dark matter. You have good data, but not the intelligence to correctly interpret them because over 90% of standard model is wrong. Chinese scientists are as stupid as western ones. My Grandfather told fritz zuicky, there is no dark matter. Dunkle materie was ignored in Europe. Fritz went to America. Anglo American admiration for Nazi science embraced his idea as American science. Especially after Robin’s result. Soon conmen started scam to capitalise from it. Now it is multi billion Euro international scam Stealing public money looking for non-existing matter. I have told major western leaders and universities. They are reluctant to consider the fact, as it will end their scams also will show they have been coned over a century by a conman. It is hard to fight the powerful people behind science scams. There is no dark matter. I pay £10,000 + interest to any one proves me wrong. Last leader Angela Merkel and her administration like American and British did not have the intelligence or comprehension to appreciate my offer. She did not give me permission to release correct science publicly. Now that privilege goes to Chinese or Russian leader. Due to my treatment in UK, I gave very little important science to them. Sine I stopped, they give disinformation about me to prevent other nation receive it. For example when Germany asked UK for some clarification, they only received disinformation. They failed to say I was here by Churchill and Eisenhower request to complete my grandfather unfinished work with Max Planck, Nikola Tesslka and others. The only way you can find evidence for dark matter is faking it or manufacturing lies. West is very good at it. look at particle matter
Talks too fast slurring words. Plus poor audio. Hard to understand everything being said. Pity.
Good talk!
i have few questions
An intlagent person make sure dark matter exist as first step. if Man knew correct evolution of galaxies they would know dark matter do not exist and speed of stars in galaxies and Galaxies in clusters should be faster than ignorant scientist expect. I know dark matter do not exist. I have on offer £10,000+ interest past 10 years for any one to prove me wrong. so far no top American, European universities or scientist had the ball to take my challenge. you should make sure dark matter exist by proving me wrong before continuing to look for it. I know you will not and continue with your scam looking for none existing matter, Ferydoon Shirazi. MG1
