Nicely done! How has your Bluetooth Range been with the Smart Shunt? Various postings I have read they reported poor reception from the Bluetooth after like 10 feet, don’t know why since Bluetooth is suppose to have range of 10 meters or 33 feet. I have a 36v 63AH Dakota Lithium for my 36v MinnKota Ulterra trolling motor. It has worked well for my limited fishing, however would like maybe a better monitoring of the battery since it did not come with a Bluetooth feature build with the battery. Looking at the 300a version in the waterproof model IP65, since that version uses M8 bolt connections. Thanks Have a good 2025!
I have not officially checked the range but.... I can be in my second floor bedroom and still connect to it in the garage and that is at least 20 meters through walls. I hope that helps. I may have to make a video on that. Thanks for the idea!
@ You’re welcome! They have a new version coming out this month Smart Shunt IP65 300A which is waterproof and slightly cheaper than the 500A version. This version has M8 bolts versus M10 on the 500a and should not need to cut wirings to place larger eyelets to fit. Have a good 2025!
You need to slow the video down or at least let everyone know your measurements on you cuts and openings.
tambien... Mira este video: th-cam.com/video/g7HYvDdBXHY/w-d-xo.html
Please continue showing your kayak. As I too have a autopilot that I'm trying to improve
Thanks! I hope to be back out there soon!
Hi, I completely overhauled an engine, I wrote to you and I did as you told me, the monoblock is ok, I continued to do the rest, almost everything changed. There are two sensors in the box, why two? The one connected with the eyelet is ok, the other one broke the male for the cable connection, I should change it but is it necessary?
Can you send me a photo of the sensors? philfry1964@gmail.com
These days I can’t disassemble them, the only thing I have are the codes 872066 872068 3852029 It gives me this three codes in the engine exploded, but I don’t understand the last 2 I have to put and if they are needed
Ok... 872066 = Temperature Sensor 872068 = Temperature Sensor 3852029 = Temperature Sensor They are all three temp sensors. I remember that my exhaust elbow temp sensor was broke off and I had to replace it. Part Number (3862500). I don't think my boat even looks at the exhaust temp anyway. I would only think that your motor has the Water Temp Sensor and the Exhaust Elbow Temp Sensor. I doubt that you would have three sensors. If you google search the part numbers you can see that two of the sensors are for a screw on nuts and one is for a slip on wire lug. My Engine had only the two sensors.
Hi, great video.. nice and simple. I have an 100ah lipo battery coming for my watersnake trolling motor.. it should last me hours on full speed.. my question is can I use the smart shunt while using the motor to monitor battery life, amps used and perhaps how longs left in the battery, running at the amps I'm using. Can't find info on that... everyone has the shunts set up to solar panels..
Phil, muy buenos los videos. Yo tengo uno del 2008 y me han ayudado mucho a entender el funcionamiento y diagnosticar algunos problemitas. Muchas gracias y saludos desde Minnesota.
Muchas Gracias! Que bueno que mis videos podría ayudarte! Cuando yo estaba haciéndolos tuve muchas dudas... jajajajaja Saludos!!
Love this idea however I had to stop watching as I was getting motion sickness from the fast movement. I'll give it a try - Thanks 😞
Thanks! I have to work on that part for sure!
@@PhilFryOutdoors The feeder Block Box turned out great, now I just need to get the deer to eat the blocks 🙂
Could’ve still helped out with just one just like they do in canoes 🛶😂
Oh, I did.... eventually 😂
Is there a torque spec on the manifold and riser?
Sorry for the late reply... Manifold is 20-25 ft lbs and the exhaust elbow is 12-14 ft lbs.
Hey man, you did it very well, I watched the videos, I have the same problem, could you help me with the total $ cost of the entire repair, and how many hours did you finish it, or are you interested in repairing mine, I think you would do it perfectly.
Hi! I think I had around 3k invested in it. It took me about 40 hrs of labor but that's because I was going at it pretty slow. 😂😂 I wish I was in the position to do another because it was fun but I have many projects backed up that I need to complete. If you need a good machine shop referral in the Atlanta area I can suggest a good one.
Awesome videos! I just bought the carb kit. Quick question, I am having issues that my engine idle high after running but will go back to normal if re start. Any idea? Checked carb wire and spring
It could be that the carb is dirty and playing havic with your idle mixture. Some of the carbs come with a cap over the idle mixture screw that you have to pop off. Apparently the EPA doesn't want us playing with it... LOL. Also, you may want to take a gander at your automatic choke and maybe your fuel as a long shot. I am kinda leaning towards that dirty carb however. Hope this helps!
@@PhilFryOutdoors thanks Phil! would you think the carb cleaner can could work or recommend taking it apart and clean it?
@@tomexplorador855 You can try the easy route first and then if that fails tear it apart and put a kit in it.
The power pole should be connected directly to a battery and NOT the Yak Powerx box. Your asking for problems.
I just have one going through the yak power and no problems... The other has it's own battery.
Hey new subscriber here great video mate catch you on the next one buddy 😊benny
Thanks!
Did you record the part where you attach the riser elbow to the manifold? I did this on mine but it’s spraying everywhere, I did something wrong or missed a step.
Let me see if I have pictures or some video of it. Did you install the gaskets along with the restrictor? I have a drawing that shows how they are placed. If you email me I can send it to you: philfry1964@gmail.com
How do I hook up the victron smart shunt using (2) 12v batteries in series for 24v ? Thank you
This is directly from Victron: community.victronenergy.com/questions/59286/smartshunt-installation.html Let me know how it works out, I am curious too!
aaaaaaaaaaaahh!!!! you skipped all the stuff i wanted to see lol
Darn... sorry about that! I think what happened was I got behind on time and had a bad case of "get her done".
you could pull the distributor and re align the pointer and oil nipple to get pointed at the right spot on the cap
i laughed when you said please dont leak, i just did mine and was thinking the same thing. i had no idea that these are the 3.0l gm motor. i need to see your other videos to see what sea water pump you have
I was pretty worried about the oil pan for sure! Funny thing is that I had an oil leak when I ran it.... turned out it was just where I had the test oil pressure gauge screwed in. 😂
Good afternoon, where can you buy a set of pistons with connecting rods?
My machine shop acquired them for me but I think you can get a kit through Michigan Motorz.. One thing to keep in mind is the clearance on the crank journal for the connecting rods. It seems that some rods are a fraction wider at the crank and can cause wear and friction on the edges of the journal which can cause a failure like a spun bearing for example. My machine shop had to modify my journal width ever so slightly to prevent that.
Enjoy the project Phil, thanks for documenting it.
Thanks!
Hi, I've seen all your videos on this engine, very good, great job. I have a boat with 2 engines the same as yours, I'm from 2006, one has plugged the cooling water circuit for rust, they tell me that it's a risk to repair it and they don't give me a guarantee on the operation, if I disassemble everything and sand the monoblock, in your opinion I'll solve it? Thank you.
Is that what the machine shop says? If it was me, since something has to be done anyway right... can't use that engine with the cooling all blocked off.... I would disassemble it, try and assess just how bad the cooling jackets are and determine if it's worth the machine shop trying to dip it and clean it out. If you had them dip it and clean it and it's too bad off, then you are just out the cost of dipping/cleaning. If it's so eaten up that the walls are too thin then I would look at getting at least short block or and new engine from someplace like Michigan Motorz.
Have been trying for 2 years to straighten my round tabletop. Thank you for showing me the process. Great success.😊
Wonderful!
looks good but had to leave early the music was to much
Great job on your table! I like to purchase a dry brush similar to you the one you used. Can you include the name or a link to where it can be purchased? Thanks much.
Thanks! Honestly, I think I got mine at Harbor Freight, but these would work well depending on the size of your project. amzn.to/42zwJBg
I recently checked out your TH-cam channel and noticed that it has an appealing design. However, I also noticed several areas that require attention. One of the key aspects that caught my attention is the lack of optimization for search engines (SEO). It seems that your channel's tags and ranking tags are not properly implemented, and there is room for improvement in terms of tag volume. Additionally, there may be other areas that need addressing as well.
Lol I removed it ...not needed then ...don't need it now
For trucks it’s more of a guard for rocks and shit like that from hitting/piercing you’re oil filter/pan.
You are right! I should have mentioned that.

Elizabeth Warren is more Indian than you are Amish.
Do you think that maybe a heater fan blowing on it would've sped up the process?
I think the steam is the real secret in this. If you can produce more steam the better and possibly like you suggest adding some more heat.
what adapter did you use to power your fish finder? Doesn't it have the twist type connecter like the power splitter?
So, on the fish finder cable, on end has a screw connector for the fish finder and the other end you have to either directly wire it to a terminal or you can put your own end on it depending on what your power source requires. I am using the Yak-Power system and all I did was install the plug, ( amzn.to/4aEcN3O ) on the other end.
Has water gotten in the usb port? Being in that position would make me concerned of water damage or maybe a fire.
So far it hasn't been a problem. However, I fish on lakes and have only been in rough waters very few times. Even in rough water when everything was wet and with rain, I had no problem. It has a rubber cover if it gets too rough I wouldn't use that port I guess
Hermoso!!!!❤

Oh boy
Wonder how that happened 😮
I bet a cell phone and alcohol had something to do with it.
@@PhilFryOutdoors was there a car?? I couldn’t see that 😱
Yup... crashed into the tree
So who keeps on driving past..?!
@moniquemannaert3468 I understand but it's not exactly a good area and there were about 4 stopped on the side road.
Put your fishfinder screen on left if you are right handed
I may just do that... I am ambidextrous but cast mainly with my right arm.
Good afternoon, please tell me how to properly connect the switchboard (pinout of the wires), where to put plus and minus so that there is a spark?
When I return from traveling, I will send you a diagram.
Do you have a video on that double power pole install? I just subscribed.
Sorry for the late reply. I didn't make a video on the 2nd power pole install because Casey Reed has a really good video out there on his channel. Check it out here: th-cam.com/video/LBhuEE7hOwk/w-d-xo.html
