Power flashes from a wedge tornado that passed around 3/4 of a mile southeast of my location. This tornado is forgotten among the violent tornadoes earlier that night in Mayfield and Edwardsville. Featured on CBS Weekend News. December 12, 2021. th-cam.com/video/bAhilWyUjW0/w-d-xo.html

I have always believed the meteorologists had important jobs. Gravely important at times. They certainly take a lot of heat from people who think all they do is cry wolf, but if I were in an area witha tornado warning polygon, I would rather be over-warned and had a chance to take shelter under ground, than complain that the meteorologist interrupted any plans or tv programs. Meteorologists save lives all the time and do not get enough credit!

My grandfather, my brothers & I made a side trip to Mayfield after visiting Murray 19 days after this storm went through. I’ve seen evidence of tornado damage in my home state before, and I’ve watched the coverage from the big outbreaks in the past, but all of that pales in comparison to what I witnessed when we came into town on the 29th. It was a very, very sobering experience that’ll stay with me for a long, long time. Kudos to Noah & Trent for keeping their composure under fire in this situation. They saved so many lives that night.

To all the people who complain about Mayfield not being EF5: It doesn't matter if it's EF4, EF5, EF3 or EF2. It's still a calamity that caused massive amounts of death and destruction and the debate over it being an EF5 or not is not important, this monster killed 57 people, injured 519 (some of these are life-altering injuries), destroyed entire communities, tore up people's lives and families and left everything unrecognizable in its 165.6 mile path.

This is very good coverage for a TV Station! They used all the capabilities of their TV station given radar, instead of just giving you reflectivity all the time. Here in NYC, ABC7NY Radar has the capability to show Velocity and Correlation Coefficient, Lee Goldberg uses those features when there is a Tornado Warning, but when another meteorologist from ABC7NY covers a tornado warning, they only show reflectivity. Its always nice when a TV meteorologist knows how to use his own radar.

I’m a Bowling Green native and this video gives me chills. I love keeping balcony door open during storms, but I remember hearing the sirens and feeling that this was more just a thunderstorm. The lights going out one by one is what gives me chills because when I saw that, it was terrifying.

I was in that Southeastern portion of Missouri when this hit. We knew it was coming in advance, and I was by myself at the time. My mom came over to help me with my animals through it. We took cover in my basement and watched the radar as it moved. I still have the video of my blanket setup...taken shortly before the power went out. Luckily, we were spared the worst parts of the storm. My heart goes out to those affected.
