Building a Bolt Action Rifle - Pristine Actions
มุมมอง 88K2 ปีที่แล้ว
The Pristine Actions duo Charles and Dre put together Pristine Bolt Action Receiver. No need to go to the Local Gun Smith. You should already have all the basic tools at home if you are working with a prefit Savage barrel. Pristine Technologies, Inc is a Bolt Action Company based in Chilliwack, BC, that launched earlier this year at Shot Show 2022. We have developed an amazing R700 footprint ac...
How to Swap Bolt Heads on a Bolt Action Receiver
มุมมอง 102K2 ปีที่แล้ว
The Pristine Actions Team Shows the benefit of owning a Pristine Bolt Action Receiver. We work with multiple calibers, and with the simple swap of a bolt head, you can go from shooting .223 Remington to 6.5 Creedmoor. No need to go to the Local Gun Smith. You should already have all the basic tools at home. Our .378 bolt head is compatible with 17, 222, 223 Remington, 204 Ruger, and 224 Wylde. ...
Charles must be part gorilla because he makes popping the shroud off look so easy. I’ve got 2 bolt assemblies on my bench and I can’t get them off anywhere near as easy as he shows
have two of these actions and neither shroud comes right off
Hi Could you make a video on replacing the extractor.pls
Question. Peopel say you need to keep your rifle straight and level when shooting. Other wise the bullet may not reach te target. Nou my question is while he is holding the barrel in his hand plz show me where is up ore down
You did the right thing
What’s with the mystery suspense background music? lol. This was difficult to get through.
The background music is super annoying!
This is why we have gear queers. Anyone who can actually appreciate a precision rifle will figure out how to assemble it
I bought two Pristine actions and after having one returned and replaced I can only make one complaint and that is it's to bad they installed a cheap cap that rattles and sometimes falls off the end of the bolt. other manufacturers of rifle actions install a nice heavy cap that fits well.
Hahaha, I am guessing you guys get your licenses from cornflakes boxes. What you are doing is assembling a rifle from manufactured parts. Building a rifle requires cutting and shaping raw steel and wood to fit together. haha, got me with the clickbait.
Great 20min video! Great information given well!
Is the correct term building? or assembling?
If only they made an updated version of this rifle: th-cam.com/video/9mbaO7qLzS8/w-d-xo.html
Get a defiance action and a proof research shouldered prefit barrel. You don’t need a ugly barrel nut . You torque it to 90 lbs and your done.. no recoil lug needed, it’s machined into receiver with picatinny rail , no screws or pins.. far superior to this! Plus you get a solid bolt handle, throw it into a chasis.. built mine and have a 5 shot one hole group, first time shooting! 2 parts not 5 .. less stacking of tolerances! These actions are over priced! A defiance ruckus action is 1300 and nitride coated, it’s 2 pieces, this is 5 pieces!
if u guys are gonna charge 1300$ for an action, why don't you offer any decent calibers? If the barrels are easy to swap out, barrel life wouldn't even matter as much
Hi there, currently we offer a short-action receiver, which is compatible with all short-action calibers. We achieve this through three different sized bolt heads to cover the array of caliber choices. We will also be releasing a long-action receiver within the next few months so Pristine customers will be able to continue shooting all sorts of great calibers for a long time to come. Personally, I really enjoy the 6MM ARC, which uses our .445 in. sized bolt head.
I've never heard of pristine... Defiance for me but nice video.
Well now you have, but you also really need to shoot one to know what we're all about :) It really is a great time to be a precision bolt-gun shooter as there are certainly a few really nice actions to choose from. While our action is certainly something special, what sets us about is our customer service so feel free to be in touch if you'd like to connect with us.
Just bought a Pristine bolt action from RDSC and it wasn't until I paid for it and searched You-Tube that I found out Pristine is Canadian. This made me very happy as I want to buy as much as I can made-in-Canada
Hi Sandra, yes indeed we are! Thanks for supporting us with your purchase. The crew at RDSC is amazing and I'm glad they have you all looked after.

I'm waiting for a long action from you all ......please soon lol
This summer. Almost there :)
Just checked and they updated their website, when you click proceed to checkout it gives you the option to add the bolt action receiver wrench! $199 CAD!
Sya dari indonesia apa sya bisa memesan kah..
We call them clamps barrel vise or action wrench !!
Yes indeed! Thanks Danny.
😀
Intristing this matter bicause,i"am,wmt of ,the, gun refer ,,,
Great video and a great action
I didnt know building bolt actions was a thing, awesome video.
Glad to open up a whole new segment of the firearms world for you. Feel free to be in contact for ideas on building one.
Yawn. I'll take a Mauser in 7x57 and do it all with the one.
What is the matter of the back of the bullet
Super excited to do one of these builds!
We're honored to be working alongside you, Arm&Gun. We know the rifle you'll build with our bolt action will be Phenomenal!!!
I got my GO/NO-GO gauges from Brownells and my action wrench from short action customs. I already had a barrel vice and torque wrench.
That's Wonderful News. Let us know if you have any questions or need help with your Pristine Build. All our clients have access to Charles and Dre and would be more than happy to help you.
I built my first "custom" rifle ( I use the term custom very loosely) recently. When I shot out the barrel of my Howa 1500 Varmint I swapped the barrel, put the barreled action in a new stock, and added a AICS compatible mag kit. Swapping a barrel on a bolt gun is quite simple if you have the proper tools. I hope videos like this one become much more popular.
That's awesome you could do that by yourself. We bet it probably took you a few tries to get it to fit the way you wanted. But thanks for your feedback. Dre and Charles have been busy keeping the business running, but they plan to make more videos soon. Be sure to subscribe and click the notification bell so you'll be notified whenever we post a video. You can also follow us on Instagram and Facebook. There you'll find all the rifles the boys are working on.
@@pristineactions Actually a lot more barrel makers are selling shouldered prefits for a lot more actions. A custom one like your pristine action should be easy as pie to get one for. Spin it on, check the headspace, and torque to spec. It's literally that simple. Getting the mag kit to fit right took longer than installing the barrel. I have to admit the barrel nut system is VERY ENTICING though. I will be looking forward to more videos.
How about the accuracy on each calibre?
There are a lot of factors to consider with that question. The type of barrel used, caliber used, grain, and the companies that make those products. We know through our test you can easily have an accurate, reliable, and consistent short-action rifle that shoots past 1000 yards. But it all comes down to the parts used, how well the rifle was put together, and the end user. For more information on what components we use, follow us on Facebook and Instagram. There you will find builds done by us and some of our clients.
Could extending the receiver and barrel threads by 2 - 4 inches assist with barrel harmonics? Do they take AR 15, AR-10, BAR, 30 carbine, Barrett magazines? Does a bullup bolt action or pump action rifle exist? Do you make a chassis stock or traditional stock with a thumbhole? Have you thought about making A BOLT ACTION AR Variant? Can you guys make an updated version of the Nosler Model 48 pistol into a bullup bolt, or straight pull, pump action rifle that also takes AR15, AR-10 BAR, 30 carbine, and Barrett magazines? Could you make a rifle that uses updated M60 barrels and M240? barrels
1)Is it possible to make a straight pull bolt rifle? 2) Can you make the rifle magazine feed that takes AR15, AR-10, Ruger Mini magazines, BAR Magazines, 30 carbine magazines, and Barret magazines? 3) Can you make a pistol version that takes M17/M18 magazines, MP7 magazines, Tommygun magazines? 4) Is it possible to make a left handed straight pull pistol that has the bolt handle moved forward closer to the barrel? 5) can you make a version similar to the Nosler model 48NCH but add a pistol brace just to piss off certain members of Congress?
This was hard to watch. I get explaining it like you are walking someone that has no clue through the process but dam. You guys should atleast know what parts/tools are called.
I get what you’re saying, but as a total newbie, this video was perfect for me. I got the information I needed to get myself started on looking into these things so that’s what mattered.
Pristine should make a receiver rod for their action that would grab in a bench vise like a Midwest Industries AR15 Receiver Rod, this would be great for Savage style pre-fit barrels. It should also be designed to be used with a barrel vise to allow for a shouldered barrel fit up. I am a gunsmith, I would not lend out my headspace gauges, but would check headspace for the builder for a fee. Keeping the Gunsmith out of the loop may be cheaper up front, but may get expensive if there is a problem with your home built rig. Fit on pre-threads are generally pretty loose also, I have found. Also, the ejection port does not match a standard Rem 700 ejection port, at least on that Bell and Carlson stock, which would drive me nuts.
Hi @x20020x thanks for your feedback. Soon after the video was released we thought about ways we can improve our receiver wrench. Your advice to build a receiver rod similar to the Midwest Industries Receiver Rod is most welcome and something we will look into.
I just subscribe to you guys take a look on my channel at my 270 AI. It's built on a Remington 721 long action threaded barrel free floated glass bedded. The only gun I've ever been able to put holes in holes with. Just needs a triggertech trigger and custom 26 (27w/break) barrel. My channel is Thecheapshot and I would love your input on the gun
Great Video. Very interested now
Thanks for your feedback, Bob. We're working on more videos and should have something posted in the next week or two. If you have any questions please reach out to us at sales@pristineactions.com
He allied his Go Gauge to fall; now it’s ruined!
SO IS THIS PARTICULAR RIFLE CONSIDERED A REM-AGE RIFLE... REMINGTON FOOT PRINT ACTION AND SAVAGE STYLE NUT
Good question. In some ways, yes. Prefit Savage barrels are the preferred method of many of our users as it allows users to swap calibers more easily without having to go to a Gunsmith every time. You can check out our other video, "How to Swap a Bolt Head on a Bolt Action Receiver," to find out how th-cam.com/video/MfflZmoA28o/w-d-xo.html But our Bolt Action will also work with shouldered barrels as well.
@@pristineactions thank you for taking the time to reply.. I have wanted to get into a custom bolt gun for a very long time AND IT APPEARS "YOU" HAVE MADE THE DREAM EVEN MORE ATTAINABLE... THANKS AGAIN AND I'LL BE LOOKING VERY HEAVY AT YOUR COMPANY FOR MY NEEDS AND DESIRES
Feel free to message us at sales@pristineactions.come for a faster reply. Lead time for our Bolt Actions is 3 to 5 Business days.
Please more videos very interesting and yes I want to build a rifle
What kind of videos would you like to see? Dre and Charles would love to shoot more videos, but we need your ideas. Let us know!!!
Maybe learn punctuation first sweetie
You should have explained the proper orientation of the torque wrench on the barrel nut wrench so it’s not adding extra torque. Some people don’t know and make this mistake.
Hi Spud, thanks for your input. We will be sure to add that to our next build.
Action looks nice! Great video.
Hi Ralph, thanks brother. Dre and Charles worked really hard to make a video that really showcases our bolt action. Look forward to new videos and posts on social media real soon.
Looks like a cool action. I haven’t tried a Pristine yet, but I’ll have to check them out.
I’ve been waiting on the aero precision receivers to be released but this looks like it will fit the bill.

how about iron sights?
We haven't worked with iron sights personally. But there is nothing stopping you from mounting iron sights on your action and barrel. It's a personal preference.
@@pristineactions they keep stating its an accurate rifle when its not.
@@johnsmith-by3yg how would you know. The didn’t shoot it! I do figure with the solid action and a good barrel and ammo tuned for it that it will be extremely accurate
@@billylee2312 you go figure some more
@@billylee2312 I have to agree with John Smith. Accuracy involves the monkey pulling the trigger. You can have the worlds most precision built rifle with the best target node ammo tuned, but in the hands of a monkey pulling the trigger? Figure out how accurate the rifle will be.
That looks like a composite from stocky,s with the Obendorf style trigger guard,
The arc barloc is the way to go, do it right in your living room.
Hi Shelby, thanks for your feedback. we haven't tried it ourselves but that is a very interesting concept. Who knows maybe Pristine could offer this option one day.
It's always nice when parts are machined to fit so nicely (and no springs to go flying across the room).
We thought the same thing, John. We try to go above and beyond with the end-user in mind. Working with experienced shooters, custom rifle builders, and new enthusiast, two things we wanted for our clients was ease of use and customizability.
