Hi there Robert, wow....number 101...that is a very cool bike. You are right about the growl...unmistakeably Ducati. I have had more fun on that bike than any other one that I have owned in fifty years. You are very lucky living in Texas as the weather is always warm and its refreshing to go for a ride in the early morning or late evening. Keep your Duc clean and well maintained and ride it hard and fast!!!!!!

+88RunningRich Well...thanks for the kind words Sir. You are right about the 900ss being a sexy bike. It really is a good looker and in my opinion one of the best looking ones ever made. I have been around bikes for a long long time and have owned most makes and types...but that Duc was really a blast to ride. I am an Englishman living in Germany and used to work at the BMW Motorcycle factory in Berlin in the 70s. Amongst other jobs there I did a lot of test riding of their prototypes that they were developing. I have been riding bikes for over 50 years now and still love Ducati..... By the way...if you want that sound then just tear out the baffles in the exhausts to let that loud roar out...

Well you are definitely fortunate to have been around bikes for such a long time now. Getting to ride BMW prototypes and the such I'm sure was amazing. With that kind of history, if the 900ss made that much of an impression on someone, then you know it is a special bike. Thanks for the tip on the pipes, I'll remember that when I get one.

+Joey's Garage Yes indeed it was a pity that you could not hear it run. I had a test ride on one 20 years ago in Holland and it just blew me away. A very cool bike and it had a great exhaust note when accelerating hard....

+88RunningRich Hi there, I am back again on the tube after a long time. Yea...the 900ss is 1991 with a white frame. They did not make the white ones for long so they are a little rare on the ground. Its been "breathed on" and the engine was modified to go faster. Buy one....you will not regret it.

duci71k I know nothing about Ducati's, so I gotta ask you another question. Is there any particular year range or engine size I should look for if I want my bike to sound like yours? The sound I'm referencing to is the video you did backing into the camera showing off the original A /B04s. She sounds good loping at idle and when revved. And have you tried any other exhausts/did they change the character much? Or should I really try to find one with a factory exhaust.

+88RunningRich The years for the 900ss that you are interested in are 1991-1998. The exhausts fitted to my bike are a special set of A/B04s that I bought from a friend in Italy that works at the Ducati Factory. They are prototypes not usually for sale to the public. They are very loud and have an aggressive bark when on full chat on open roads. Dogs and conservative people don’t like them...but I do...You will have to buy one with stock pipes where you live...but if you can find one with loud customised ones... get it. No I haven’t tried any other than stock and these A/B04s.
