Taken on 04/05/24 First time I ever took a long distance Amtrak ride to Chicago. Also appeared to be #312’s inaugural run after being repaired due to hitting a car in Mobile that caught fire.

F40PH-3 #135 was the primary power on this trip. Also most of the shaking was caused because of a yellow jacket getting too close to me.

Yea, Metra had plans they were going to reuse 611 and 614 to test new prime movers and control packages.
@@chicagolandrailfan1550with the SD70MACH locomotives now around, that’s becoming a lot less likely now, but I hope both of them will go to museums.

I’m coming here soon. What times do buses arrive at the transit center? Or are they just coming in and out constantly?
There are maps at the terminal in downtown south bend for more clarity. But most buses on the weekdays operate every 30-60 min. On Saturday they operate by the hour. There is no service on Sundays

Overall I think the ride on the TRE was great. WAY better than metra's outdated cars. (except for the select few 7400 cars) Getting around the Dallas-Fort worth areas is way simpler than Chicago's system. $12 for a regional fare in Dallas-Fort worth is a good price. Will be coming back to take the TRE again in the near future.

P42DC 181 is now on the East Coast as a Washington DC area based unit. Today 12/21/20, he was on 67 this morning and now he's leading 66 heading North
Metra 217 was actually from a virgina commuter rail before Metra had 217
Right and wrong. 217 is ex amtrak. It operated at the Virginia railway express after they purchased it from Amtrak.

Nope. She's deemed a total loss. Plus why rebuild a burned engine when your getting like 40 new to metra locomotives with 8 possible tier 4 locomotives f125's
One of my buddies who is a Metra engineer and has run 215 many times, said it was one of the worst units on the North Central Service and Milwaukee District. He told me it would break down or have issues all the time.

Ty Hik it would be nice seeing it rebuilt and properly this time. Patterson is doing by far a better job than Mayfield did with rebuilding the F40s. A lot of the engineers seem to like them. Only issues they have are with then loading a little slowly but that can be easily fixed.
