I am a composer and professional musician. My focus is mostly jazz, but I've also worked in music theater and composed and arranged for symphony orchestras. I play sax, piano, and sing and am available for bookings in the Boston area.

Merry Christmas Mark!! Thanks for all the nice music

Hello Mark. I have a suggestion(s). At about 11 your music is bogging down because it is so repetitive. So, starting at 11 what you might consider is turning your first and 3d notes in the bass line into dotted quarters, with a breather eight rest between. Then take your beats 2 and 4 and transpose them in the treble line in 8vas in the E 2/E3 range (starting between the 4th and 5th lines on the clef). At ms 16 you can alternate your 8va's on beats 2/4 by dropping beat 2 down and keeping beat 4 high. That gives you a considered bit more variety, and does not clutter your textures. If you want to go further, I suggest a hairpin cresc. for your voice in ms. 3. THen decresc. ms. 4/5 starting on the word "fish." Because your voice does not precisely begin with the piano I would also suggest adding a dynamic (maybe mp). Place above the voice. At ms. 7 I think your "f' is a bit overzealous. Especially for such an understated and small piece. Anyway, as your voice line descends it looses a bit of it's innate power due to the descent, and the fact that your melody hit it's height on beat 1 of ms. 7. You might consider a decresc. early in ms. 8 to reflect that. I like your little tune! But I have news for you. Your writing is BETTER than Ives'. I don't think he ever wrote anything worthwhile. I think Musicologists just like reciting his life's story. Your piece here presents far better! I hope you have subsequent songs to follow this song . . .
Love it Mark.
Nice job!
Thank you for setting the mood while I last minute wrap gifts! 🎄🎁

Thanks Joseph. This year it's been tough schedule-wise finding a good time slot. Other people have been asking, so I will plan something soon! Right now, I only have one single for sale, but I am trying to finish the album this year. You can get the single I have out on Amazon, iTunes, etc. This page has all the links in one place: marksensinger.hearnow.com/oyes Thanks again for your support!!

Lovely! I have Jobim’s “Wave” and “Urubu” on vinyl, and hadn’t heard of this track but I like it! Well played! 🎹❤️
I had never heard of it either before coming across it in a book of tunes. Now it's one of my absolute favorite Jobim tunes.
