What If SEBASTIEN LOEB joined BTCC? | BTCC What If…? Series 2 #5
Welcome to BTCC What If…?
The series on my channel where we take any possibility within the BTCC world & see what would happen…
BTCC What If…? Series 2 Episode 5:
Sebastien Loeb has pretty much done it all in motorsport, a multi time Dakar winner, a 9x World Rally Champion and arguably is THE greatest driver of all time, however in 2014, the Frenchman decided to take a dip in the crazy world of Touring cars, racing with Citroen in the WTCC for 2 years alongside Yvan Muller & Jose Maria Lopez, while Loeb never won a championship in WTCC, he did take multiple race wins throughout his 2 year tenure.
But, What If Sebastien Loeb chose another touring car series instead? What If he joined the BTCC in 2014? How would be he perform? Would he have won a championship?

Ngl. I wanted this to happen. The hybrid systems are just too expensive for some teams. I heard that teams were dropping out of the series because they couldn’t keep up with the cost of hybrid, which of course led to less cars on the grid
Congrats on 300 subs

What If Alan Gow and the TOCA Stewards DID THEIR JOB and DISQUALIFIED Hill after us true BTCC fans caught him red-handed for what he did in the Silverstone Reverse-Grid-Drew?
@@johnwilkins275 It’s been nearly a full month since the Finale. Move on.
@@ElliotWebberYT I really am so sorry, mate, but facts are facts and the truth is the truth. Hill should've had his Silverstone points taken away from him after that dirty-stunt he pulled. Therefore, he DOESN'T deserve to be the 2024 champion and I refuse to acknowledge a dirty-driver like him as 2024 champion. Tom Ingram, a clean and respectful-driver, is the REAL 2024 champion. But he and Excer8 got screwed, because Gow and the Stewards did nothing after Silverstone. Even my driver, Ash Sutton, another clean and respectful-driver, got screwed too, because of that new black-and-orange-flag-rule in Race 2 at Oulton Park. Trust me, 2024 was the darkest season ever for us real and true BTCC fans.
@@johnwilkins275 I’m not interested in your conspiracy theories or whatever. Whether you like it or not. Jake won the championship. Please don’t post anymore negative comments on my videos thank you.
will be great if you can add some of the original videos visualisation helps a lot liked 👍👍👍👍

100% Naturally Aspirated sounds very good to me
@@MrJoshiej the BTCC cars haven’t been naturally aspirated for years, they’ll still remain with the 2 litre turbocharged engines
The flashing lights in the side windows will remain. The extra boost will come solely from the turbo now, like a scramble boost function. So we’ll still have push to pass/push to defend. They are removing the boost deployment from the live timing screens but the ITV stream will still show it.
Hybrid costs haven't helped grid sizes, hadn't improved the spectacle or results compared to success ballast. There's a chance hybrid may go from the WRC as well. Be interesting to see what cars NAPA run next year, Ash had terrible luck this year, double DNF at Oulton, taken out at Donnington GP and Brands GP.
@@tangerinedream7211 NAPA will still be running the Fords next year, they plan to have new cars for 2026
I get why Alan Gow tried it for BTCC. With what the Car makers were going to do and getting subsidies from Governments to try to push and pursue in Electric/Hybrid, but after seeing nowhere near the progression once thought of, Hybrid is being taken away. Plus for BTCC, the costs were getting too much from what I have read. Hence this year, lowest grid sizes in 14 years.
Soooo.... we're going to see the bmw's even more OP than before then? Mr gow doesn't make it too obvious he's on their payroll does he 🤣
Alan Gow's definitely not messing around. Will be interesting to see what other changes he'll make in the coming months. And for a new fan myself it'll be strange but exciting to see the drivers battling and overtaking using pure skill alone.
Sounds like BTCC is going to be 1 year ahead of formula 1 in regards to introducing synthetic fuel.
Great fantastic. Pure racing from the drivers it's still a fantastic championship
Coming from a new fan who started watching in 2023, at best he might've found himself a midfield team drive for this year as his talent would've been massively clear. Or if Jake and Simon didn't have the funding to compete in the BTCC, Jake may well have followed Stephen Jelley, Daniel Lloyd and George Gamble to Porsche Carrera GB.
I got an idea for a what if: What if Eurotech had stayed? I thought Jack Goff was really coming good with them and Brett Smith looked to be on the up.
He wouldn't be the 2024 Champion, that's for sure!
Andrew Jordan has 26 wins.
Being a Mat Jackson fan growing up, I still wonder what he would have accomplished if he drove for a WSR or Team Dynamics.
I like to think he would have finally won the title.
Love john , Got a lot of time for him Spent a lot of time / miles at tracks in the 90s, Always give everything, including finger signals, 56 now miss those days, a true legend of my life, John cleland & del trotter.! Hope your ok john. Still have the models in the cabinet.
I'd love to meet you one day!
Sorry I've not left a comment for a long time. I strongly encouraged you to continue what you do and you have with such passion. You have grown in confidence so much. You are a remarkable young man who I admire so much. Loved the interview with Dan lloyd last Saturday. You should be very proud of yourself. I see big things coming your way! X
Svg is weirdly connected to most this list lol. he taught Max how to drive the V8supercars and apparently how to heel toe and they're sim racing team mates. He currently races against Kyle. He competed in the NZ round of the WRC-2, where Kalle won the main event. I don't think he's competed against Conor, Svg hasn't done competitive drifting since 2018 and even then only in NZ and Aus, but they do have the redbull connection. If there was a guy from a top series to randomly jump into BTCC it would probably be Shane.
The BTCC could have had a NASCAR driver briefly in 1995 as Mark Martin was linked to a one-off outing with the works Ford team.
HILL IS THE 2024 CHAMPION!
I'm rooting for Hill but I think it's going to be Ingram.
Love your channel and can't understand why you don't have more subscribers, also agree with everything you have said about the driver's and about Jack Hill been a excellent driver. I'm am completely Nutural on who I would like to win maybe would like one of the Toyota's because im a Toyota fan have a few old Toyota's, but I have to say I watch Jack Hill video clip about 50 times and I am 💯 satisfied that he did cheat, and I honestly think that he will not win on Sunday. I know you disagree with this point but that's just my opinion let's see dose anyone else agree with me or not. Keep up the good content on your channel and looking forward for your video when the championship is over on Sunday
@@brendangallagher6224 Thanks for the support Brendan! I’m also neutral going into this because no matter what we’re in for a great finale!
Wouldn't say John Cleland was dominant in 1995. He had a run of 4 straight wins mid-season but that was about it. He was more consistent than dominant (he only non-scored 3 times in a 25 race season) and his rivals just had more than their fair share of bad luck (especially Rickard Rydell in the Volvo, 13 poles and only 4 wins, 3 of which came in the first 9 races) and the Williams-run Renaults took too long to find their feet. Case in point, Renault won 10 races to Vauxhall's 7 in 1995 and won the manufacturer's title and Alain Menu won 7 races to Cleland's 6, yet was 43 points behind Cleland in the final standings and was realistically out of the title fight with 2 meetings to go (though he still had a very slim chance) and Renault only beat Vauxhall by 5 points and probably would have fallen short if James Thompson hadn't had his season-ending Knockhill crash.
The current era is hardly anything to sneeze at. We've got Hill and Ingram tied for points with 1 meeting to go! Even the Supertouring era never managed that! Let's not forget, 2004 was settled by a bonus point for fastest lap, otherwise it would have been a deadheat!
Was something wrong with the camera?
The Supertouring era was brilliant and I love those cars as much as anyone else, but I think the excessive nostalgia for that era is kind of damaging the series' reputation at this point. It feels like many racing fans act like the BTCC died in 2000, and don't give the current era a chance. 90% of BTCC content online is about the Supertouring era. It's a more extreme version of the WRC/Group B situation. I'm sure if you edited the current races after the fact and brought back Murray Walker with semi-scripted commentary like they used to do back in the day, you could make the current racing seem just as exciting as that era.
@@NurburgringMascotThirstA-is6gl Very true, there’s a ton of people who simply refuse to watch modern day BTCC because it’s not supertouring. One thing they can’t seem to accept is that had Supertouring remained beyond 2000, the series likely wouldn’t have survived.
@@ElliotWebberYT Yeah, I also see that all the time with WEC fans who want LMP1 back. The thing about super-expensive, technologically innovative, manufacturer driven regulations is they never really last that long outside of F1
Hi Elliot interesting video this isn’t really a hot take but a personal pefence but I would love to see even if it’s one season/meeting/race but would love to see Ben Edwards back on BTCC commentary in the past that was a massive pleasure I had browning in the 2000s and 2010 and 2011 I remember Louise Goodman interviewed him at Snett and that was phenomenal 👍
@@scottbarnes3116 100% agree with you there. Ben Edwards was the ITV commentator when I started watching BTCC, imo he’s the GOAT after Murray Walker
IT'S SOUNDS VERY BAD
Ahead of the Cupra's, avoided all the chaos, decent start.
Good enough, I would have thought, scored in all three races at least.
We were in the Vauxhall grandstand at duffus dip. Despite being in a BMW, within a few laps Colin had lit up the grandstand by taking a lot of kerb on the inside and basically flying down duffus dip on 2 (or less!) wheels, every lap. Can still picture it to this day…magnificent!
It’s a shame he’s left the team, they’ve had a good group of drivers recently. Hopefully there is a return next year and in a good car
Only for donny

Mikael Sundstrom wasn't a legend in WRC circles as such (he won the Finnish Rally Championship 5 times) but he did score Peugeot's first ever outright podium at Brands Hatch in 1986. He drove a converted 205 Rally Car.
