Thank you. This gives me hope❤
This is just incredibly insightful. You just gave me the gift of awareness of something I was definitely experiencing, but had not consciously recognized the pattern yet. Thank you!❤❤❤
I just found you on Oct 28th and have been going through all of your videos starting with the oldest to now. Missed the workshop! When’s your next one planned? ❤
Loved this❤thank you
Thank you for this video ❤
Thank you!
💯 FACTS Gwen 🙏🙏
Lies...
I’m ready
I LOVE this, Gwen! I needed this today. It's only reinforced what we talked about yesterday. Continue to be a blessing to others. You are making a difference. Most of all, thank you for simplifying the program of recovery ❤❤❤
Just subscribed your channel. Found some insight in what you said. Do you by the way have any specialty in psychology or psychiatry?

You mentioned in your previous video that you prefer AA over OA book. Would you suggest that we attend OA then instead of AA group? Thank you!
Oh ok...now that I've listened to your video, you don't sponsor. But, I understand why and it makes complete sense. Thank you so much for these videos!
I'm looking for a mentor. Would you be able to be mine? I'd be so honored.
great message, guidance, and easy to listen to! thank you very much 🙏🏽 going to listen to all of your content. much appreciated!
Do you sponsor?
I asked her the same. I'd love her as a sponsor.
Thank you, so good ❤
Perhaps sugar is not alcoholic food for you. Your alcoholic behavior is emotional eating.
Thanks for sharing this video. Unique introduction followed by a neat addiction/burst pipe analogy. I must admit I've got a few leaking pipes I need to sort out (fix) that I keep putting off.
Any other advices that doesn't include religion ?
@@sne299 yes, if you’re ok with the idea of a Higher Power. (I just happen to call mine God) If that whole idea makes you uneasy, then I would also recommend DBT - dialectical behavioral therapy. It does a good job teaching people how to regulate their emotions, which can help a lot with addition recovery.
I talk about this so much in my newsletter! You can sign up for it at liberatedbylight.com
I’m so glad!
I’m so sorry I missed your comment! I’m just now seeing it. How’s it going?? You can email me directly if you’re still looking for some help! Admin@liberatedbylight.com
Thank you. Im on the 3rd step right now and needed to hear this.
Thank you so much. You have no idea how helpful this video has been for me:)
Whats the difference between OA and FA
Honestly, not much. In my opinion, they both get it a little bit right and a little bit wrong. They’ve both built programs around the 12 steps . The 12 steps themselves do not require restriction of any kind - they work to change you from the inside out. But OA and FA both add additional tools and suggestions, on top of the steps, and those tools and suggestions are aimed at changing you from the outside in. So, they both get a little removed from the spirit of what the 12 steps were going for.
Thank you for this video. I want to get started with OA, but I was so concerned about the food plan. I thought it was all about the food plan.
I mean I always heard you have to cut out flour and sugar. I don't know if I can or even want to do that for the rest of my life.
@@kathycrawford4719OA might require it, your sponsor might require it… but the 12 steps don’t, and neither does God. I recovered without giving up those things! I’ve lost 120 pounds and enjoyed some birthday cake tonight at my friend’s celebration. Life is good!!
Once one realises that there is no god, there is just reality, then self accountability grows.
For me, I’ve never been able to do it without God. So I can’t even imagine what that would be like.
❤❤🎉🎉🎉
The old saying is true, there are two dogs in you, the one you feed the most grows
4:28 Yes! This really resonated with me. If I have to do a food plan, it's too much like a diet which just consumes all my energy and focus. Common sense approach to focus on the steps to help regulate emotios rather than focusing on tracking foods.
Amen!
7:40 I hope you talk more on this! "I don't have trigger foods, I have trigger feelings." Aha moment - I binged on a package of celery - just celery - so sugar is not my problem but whatever it is that drove me to the fridge.
You make a great point People are asked to freely share their phone numbers during the telephone meetings but some seem to be struggling as much as me so I question the value of this connection.
4:00 great advice!
6:48 marking my spot to come back and finish listening
Hi Gwen, thanks for this! I've been curious about your comments and looked into it - it's from the Big Book, which says "once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic" page 33, Jim's Story. Hope that helps!
Are you still in the program?. I need a sponsor.
You both look so happy! It makes me happy.
It's good to see that y'all are back at it! Congratulations on your marriage! That's awesome!
I'm looking to find the detox recovery center I can't stand the way I live anymore
Love this so much. I needed to hear this today so badly.
This was really helpful to hear, thank you so much!
Great video, guys. The other part of "Russian Roulette" in the rooms is that you may be made to feel as though your objection to something your sponsor wants you to do is evidence that you are not ready for the Program. So, I believe that you are emotionally blackmailed into doing things that are "extra" because not to do them, or to think you need a different sponsor, is to admit that you are "not ready," "not willing," or "still sick in your disease." What a relief it is to find that these accretions are not essential -- just the 12 Steps are.
Perfectly stated!
all it took for me to stop my addiction is when my mother broke down im 6 years sober i stopped at the age of 13 I won't take programes i walk through the woods back on the path i fell off of
