      Buddy, car straight off the highway. Took forever, I literally left it alone. 15 minutes was still draining. Garbage, but that’s my opinion. It’s cool if you have a different one.

    I do my own oil changes. After dealing with everything being overly tightened to the point of near impossible, I won't put up with german torque sabotage to keep my vehicle slave to the shops. I have a nice new drain bolt and hand tightened oil filter with my personal choice of oil. The jack and stands were worth it. 'German torque' spec shops are the reason he put that on there. Put the blame where it belongs.

    Got myself Fumoto valve for my 4Runner. Share my plan to install it with my friends, who is factory trained Toyota tech. He was adamant not to do it and got the pump instead, saying that it is much better and that he had seen this type of valve leak or fail. So I am kind of torn right now...

    I use the EZ-drain valves. Oil shops overtighten drain bolts and filters. In the video, I can’t tell if the drain valve is fully open or not. I like being able to attach a hose to the end and direct the oil right into the drain pan.

  • @JamesSmith-uc8tk
    @JamesSmith-uc8tk วันที่ผ่านมา

    I've used those on my other vehicles and will likely get one for my latest vehicle. Never had a problem with them. While they may take longer to drain, they don't make a giant mess like the drain bolt does. For a guy in a shop, those valves may be an annoyance, but for the guy doing oil changes in his driveway, they are worth their weight in gold.

    The number of times I’ve had to retap an oil pan drain/plug makes those god tier. Of all the points of the oil change you can save time. Always zipping the damn Drain bolt 😒 The only gripe i have is that you can’t tell if you completely drained the oil if something clogs the other side, and need to pull the dipstick. Checking oil level *BEFORE* an oil change is 2-3 minutes wasted in a quick lube shop. Regular shops part of the multipoint.

  • @walrus_man

    Thanks for the video. Did you have to hold the transmission using a jack underneath during the mount replacement?.

    • @maxsmoviechannel
      @maxsmoviechannel วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great question! Sometimes I do however this time I did not (it was being used by someone else). Having a jack underneath will make it easier to line up the holes upon re-installation. However it is not necessary. But if you have one, it is a good idea to use it. Just make sure you use the seam on the bellhousing as a lift point, not the oil pan if possible!

    My sister bought a Subaru Crosstrek with this drain plug. It hasn’t had any issues in the 2 years of owner ship and the original owner had it on for longer than that. I didn’t trust it at first but hasn’t let her down yet.

    I had a 2006 Cummins. First gallon would come out nice the other two would spread out all over the bottom of the pan and shower down. I put a fumoto valve on all my cars and haven’t minded much about the time. Usually if you change it hot it drains a lot faster. Bought a 2024 gmc 2500 and took it in for recall. Has scratches on the fender dent on the hood chip in the door edge. I will prob putting a valve on that truck too. Save me some body damage.

  • @thereviewer4173
    @thereviewer4173 วันที่ผ่านมา

    The previous car owner probably did their own oil change. The plug is actually a brilliant idea. It cuts down on time needed to put used oil from a drain container and into a bottle to then be recycled. With this plug you can open the drain and pour it directly into a gallon bottle or two. Also no mess at all. It’s a nuisance for you because you are in a shop designed for speedy oil changes.

    Why did you replace the filter while there’s still nasty old oil draining from the motor? Maybe it’s just me, but I wait until the oil is done draining before I install the new filter just on the off chance old oil could contaminate the new filter. And like someone else said, why not inspect the rest of the vehicle while you wait for it to drain? You’re missing out on potential work that the customer didn’t even know they needed. Just my 2¢

    • @maxsmoviechannel
      @maxsmoviechannel 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@TheTutorialLevel OK so the oil filter sits higher than the oil pan. So once the oil filter is finished draining, there is still the remainder of the oil in the pan, which is what you’re seeing draining out also make no mistakes, full MPI was done. And the video took 20 seconds.

    • @052RC
      @052RC 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Most "customers" have a mouth wrench that fixes everything perfectly, and arm themselves with information they got from Scotty Kilmer. Then they try and act smart in conversations like this. Lets take you, for example. Why are we loosening the fill cap and/or dipstick? Airflow so the oil can drain faster? Motors are not air tight. They can't be. A "common sense" solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Hmm was the car warmed up? I assume that was in reference to the oil draining so slow. How can someone with your level of common sense not see not see that tiny little hole the oil is pouring out from? Even the smallest drain plugs are at least 2x to 3x larger than the one on the valve. Instead of making fools out of yourselves, why not check your facts before you make a post? Its not like any of this information is a secret.

    I don't know what's worse that drain plug or having the drain bolt labeled on the bottom of the pan... Mike, I'll tell dumb people are these days though. Even the young mechanics need a f****** label going to the drain plug.... Remember the Subaru Simon drive event signed and drive well. Let's just say they used to do that on those commercials. Oh, sign then drive. All you need is your license blah blah blah and then now when that commercial comes on at the end it says in reality you will need more than your signature and license. That's the world we're living in that you have to have a oil drain plug labeled and commercials have to say at the end in reality. XYZ
