I am originally from Brooklyn, so i'm an east coast guy. I Moved to san diego in 2015, and now starting to make plans to move back in 2025. California was cool, but east coast is my tribe, looking into North Jersey so that i can be close to family over in NYC.
I grew up here, and it was wonderful to be a child in the 1960's in this amazing unique place, with the Rahway River Greenway and Nomahegan Park to ride our bikes to, and a downtown area that was a kid's dream with toy stores, old-fashioned 1950's soda shops and an ornate 1920's art deco movie house that has now sadly been transformed into a triplex. One of the only businesses from that time left is Breem's Liquor, which is remarkably unchanged today, including its classic outdoor metal sign. I must say though that the rap-style music you have chosen does not seem to fit in with the quaint, classic antiqueness that is the hallmark of Cranford's town character.

I'm so glad I live in Weehawken! I live on such a quiet street and I get the perfect view of NYC.
Thanks for sharing @urlocalkoalanerd! Please share a highlight location in Weehawken that you would like to promote, perhaps a restaurant or social scene.
@@newjerseylivinggroup Well I live near Gregory Park on Gregory Ave. and I love the view of NY. Also I have a local deli called "The Oak Deli" on Oak Street. They serve such amazing food for breakfast, and lunch. I go there a lot so if you ever go nearby I would reccomend it!
Is it true you must speak Spanish at most of the stores?
Hey @thomasdixon-ir3ht, many of the stores located downtown are owned and/or operated by Spanish speakers. However, I have never had a problem with a language barrier in any of the stores I have visited.
I have heard the schools were bad!
They actually have 2 of the highest performing high schools in the state, and rank nationally as well. Of course there is specific selection criterion for admission.
Thinking of moving there from downtown Newark with my 2 kids but I hear the school systems aren't good at all! ... I really want to be in a diverse community that's affordable with a great school district. Any advice?
Hi @kimh9420, thanks for the comment. There are several high quality charter schools, parochial schools, and private school options in Newark for those who choose not to go with the public option. Please contact me directly for more specific insights.

How Is It Finishing A Cheap Decent Property?
Hi @maladyantique, thanks for the comment. The best opportunities in this market are with properties that are a bit distressed or in need of significant upgrades. Price can be negotiable and the equity gained once finished is usually substantial.

We moved to the Gregory area of West Orange right on the border of South Orange about 8 months ago and we could not be happier! There is no shortage of activities, great people, and great food right around us in West Orange, South Orange, Maplewood, and Millburn/Short Hills; and despite not having our own train station, getting to Mountain or South Orange station is a breeze making it so easy to get to the city. West Orange is in close proximity to anything you could want, whether you like the city, the suburbs, or the rural outdoors. I have lived all over the country and this area has offered me more than anywhere else and we love it! (painful to say coming from Long Island 😉).
Awesome @fleschnerj1! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.🙌💯
Not survive but thrive in nj.
Hi @ronaldedson496! It sounds like you’re thinking of relocating to the area?
Been going to the agrove since 1999 when I first met the wife. We found it on the internet, did not realize it was a quiet spot like that, but ended up loving it (helps that you can go next door to As Rut or Belmar if you desire a bit faster pace for entertainment. I recently retired and have been thinking about investing into a B and B in the area (we have stayed at the Ocean Plaza almost every summer for at least a couple nights for the past 15 years or so).
Over priced homes in an area close to IRVINGTON And NEWARK.
I appreciate your feedback @user-fq7nd7fh5e. Is there anything else you'd like to see more of in future real estate videos?
I though they were making something else but never mind

New Jersey. Free to drive in, big tolls to leave. Reminds me of the Roach Hotel. Easy to get in, hard to get out.
I'm sorry to hear about your negative experience @LawyerCalhoun1! What else happened?
Is linden a good place to live in NJ?
Thanks for the comment @nanylorenaguerro775! There are a few higher demand neighborhoods in Linden. The train station and proximity to NYC has made the town an attractive location for investors and city commuters. Please contact me if you would like additional info.
OMG The boardwalks of NJ are being taken over by the scum of earth. Pop up parties, young ADULTS behaving disrespectful to families of all walks of life trying to enjoy life at the beach and supporting the small businesses on the boardwalk. You would have to be crazy to take your young children there. I’m never going to Point Pleasant, West Long Branch or Asbury Park again. Woke thugs now destroying NJ. Telling family and friends to stay away
Anybody from Somerset? I lived there.
Hey @Scranton0. What’s your favorite part of living there?
@@newjerseylivinggroup I only lived in NJ from April 1971 to February 1973. Somerset was a nice town that I liked. I wish I would rode my bike more to see the place. It had to one interesting street patterns. And I had to ride a bus to Junior High. That was Sampson Smith on Amwell Road.
I lived at 421 Elm Street in Westfield until January 21st, 1974. My room was over the living and dining rooms, the driveway side, seen in The town that spawned The Addams Family (right or northside of the Victorian at 411 Elm Street). The town was also featured in the series Ed, in the beginning of each show with the Rialto on the left across from the Yesterdade that was The Play Fair originally. Music Staff was on Quimby Street and Hill's Ice Cream was on Broad Street. The town doesn't look all that different from when I lived there. I'm writing a series of 13 chapter novels about growing up there because 13 chapters = 13 weeks, a season, storylines interconnected, intertwined, 1 per day. Western Bay, OR where it takes place is the mirror image of Westfield pre-1974.
Awesome @gostreaks! Thanks for sharing your experiences. What are your favorite places in the city?
The places I mentioned no longer exist or the names were changed over the years but the library, Mindowaskin Park playground and train station still exist. What were the names of the stores on either side of The Play Fair, I entered & exited through the back door. What were the names of the stores that the hotel replaced? That hotel wasn't there when I lived there until January 21st, 1974. I know Ted's Smoke Shop was on the corner of Elm & Broad, Woolworth was on the other side of it on Elm & Broad. I know the Rialto closed. Why, I don't know. The same about Theodore Roosevelt Junior High becoming Roosevelt Intermediate School. Its it a school for the learning disabled now? I still can't believe it's been 50 years since I lived there! If you know anyone there in their 60s & 70s who lived there back in the 60s & 70s I'd love to email with them to reminisce. It would be helpful for my audiobook & ebook Western Bay for now, picking up/starting on June 9th, 1969. Western Bay, OR fictional but the mirror image of Westfield, NJ; same names of parks, public schools K-8, and so on.
thanks Corey! Was not even aware of the opportunity in some of thee towns, will definitely add them to our watchlist for open houses

Okay.

You have to be rich to live in that area.
Thanks for the comment @blackboxingkings2800. By NJ standards, Somerville is one of the more affordable locations to purchase a home. Most of the inventory falls in the $400-$600K range. That is modest compared to other locations like Summit and Montclair.
At 10:35 and at 18:48 Minute you stated that you were in EAST BRUNSWICK!?? This is an error, right?
Yes it was, thanks for pointing that out!

Yes, I couldn’t edit the Thumbnail once it posted.
Speaking of train stations, I've heard reserved parking lot spots are cheaper for residents, is it true and one of the reason you'd rather live in a town with one? Cheers Corey, awesome content as usual!
@Evenstar213, it really depends on the community. There’s a waiting list on assigned parking in some locations while others are a daily rate for whatever spaces are available.

Any apartments that take section 8 there?
Hi @lorena-OT7, yes section 8 is accepted. Landlords are not allow to deny applications based on section 8 status. Let me know if you need assistance with finding a rental unit.
I grew up on Prospect Street and walked or rode my bike to the park all the time. There wasn’t a playground, basketball court, or building when I lived there. At the farthest left side of the park, before the football field, the fire department used to fill a huge hole in the ground in the winter for ice skating. The river behind Corey was always polluted and we never got too close because there were always rats running on the banks. There was never a walking trail. Farther back was BAB, known as “bare a** beach.” Never went there as a kid, but the stories were legend.
That's awesome @bellydancegal! Thanks for sharing your experience 🙌 What are your favorite places to go and do in the city?
I'm watching Peacock's Elsbeth at the moment, and mate the Captain Wagner looks like you in the voice and elegance. I'm always waiting for him say stuff to help move in NJ 🤣 Anyhow, that was an awesome tour, and definitely a location to consider.
Thanks for the comment @evenstar213! I'll have to check out that show, never seen if before. Keep me posted on your transition date, I'll provide some updated inventory for you!

I'm from New Jersey I have 2 things to add 1 if you go to Pizza Hut or Domino's or Papa John's..... you suck There are SO MANY great pizza places/Italian restaurants that serve genuine delicious Jersey pizza leave those chain places for other places 2 LETS GO DEVILS!!!!!!!!!🏒
Thanks for the comment @anthonybeam8003! My wife and I often ask ourselves how the chain pizza restaurants survive in NJ, the best pizza in the world is right here in a 30 mile radius. Never was much of a hockey fan until I went to a Devils game...the live action is next level! I loved it!
Me personally I think chain pizzerias serve their own purpose even in New Jersey. After a drunk night out I don’t want a pizza from delucias or any of the other top hitters I’d prefer a pizza with more bread and cheese with some garlic sauce on the crust but to each their own👍🏼
My Guy. Black and Gold! Lots of Steelers fans here. I can't wait to leave though. Born and raised. 4 Million people living in central NJ and it takes an hour to go 20 miles at any time of the day. Not the NJ I grew up in and I'm only 40. Chain restaurants don't survive here because NJ natives are proud and don't allow it. Also has to do with connections. NJ has always been a great state to live in due to the education and that it has everything to offer. But NJ is no longer friendly to the blue collar workforce, thus pushing those that made this state what it is, out. If you can afford it, great, have fun and enjoy. But I'm finally out of here next year!
Hey @zline-sp2fs, great points here! It is indeed becoming a double edged sword when weighing the benefits vs cost of living & crowding. With that said, I can't see myself living anywhere else for now! The past 25 years of my life have been here and that will likely continue until I retire. Go Black & Gold!!!
It is perfect for those who want to walk a long boardwalk WITHOUT HONKY TONK. I have told many about it. You feel like you are really with the ocean…..and a honky tonk boardwalk destroys that feeling.
Awesome @snuggiema! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.🙌💯
My parents were born there. I was born there when my parents lived on Washington Ave. Then moved to Park Ave. Went to Washington school until 4th grade. Moved to Belleville until 7th grade ( Jr. High)Then moved to AZ in '74. I kinda wish we stayed. Hello to the Antonoccis, Carbones, Manns, Bartels,Kish(es), Gillies, Rossies ....... My uncle Rudy Kral went to school with Martha Stewart. My mother went to Washington school and we had the same 1st grade teacher, Mrs Jones.
Hey {@davidmeeker7481 can always come back. What’s your favorite part of living here?
I went to Washington School as well, then I moved to Maplewood for Junior High and High School then I moved back to Nutley and then to Florida in 94. You said you know the Mann’s? Which ones?
Tell them to move the trash can away from the flag pole its a disgrace.
I appreciate your feedback @user-zk4oe7mc8n! 💯

Love the video...please pronounce Warinanco correctly😂. I grew up on E4th Ave for 20 years and worked at the skating center when I was a teenager.
Thanks for the info! What’s your favorite part of living here?
@@newjerseylivinggroup I moved to south Florida 34 years ago in 1990. I was born in 1970 and lived in Roselle from 1970-1990 in the same house on East 4th Ave. Went to Harrison, Lincoln and Abraham Clark. I still have a best friend that lives on East 4th Ave. I spent 30 plus hours a week at that skating center working as a skating guard. Those were great times!!!
