The Unit - Air Quality Comic
Enable closed captioning for French language subtitles.
As the rate of forest fires increases with each passing summer, families across Canada are more likely to be exposed to dangerous levels of smoke. Families like Zoe, her brother Garret, their Naaáhsa (Grandmother) Rose, and Izzy, their dog can be affected. Poor air quality is no joke. It can have a serious impact on one's health.
One summer morning, thick smoke from a forest fire travels through their region and Naaáhsa Rose quickly falls ill. With their mother away on a business trip, the responsibility now falls to Zoe and Garret to keep their family unit safe.

this experience was built using "colonizer" technology btw. Why don't you make something similar using Indigenous resources? I think that would be more authentic.

I am looking to understand and speak Blackfoot in memory of a woman I met in the early 80's in Great Falls, Montana. I nearly left the British Army, went AWOL for her but, she told me to go back and not be looking over my shoulder for the rest of my life. \i am both glad that |I did and sad that I did at the same time. I believe she is now passed and I wept for her. All I can do now is honor her by learning her Native Language.

Wow, wonderful, an actual Blackfoot learning post. All the others just say the words and move on with not explanation or proper pronunciation, or how it works in a sentence. I hope there would be more and that the introduction of vocabulary along with a story would be great.

I believe putting macron's over the vowels instead of writing 2 of them can really help convey the language more effectively and efficiently. For example, instead of writing "Niitsitapi" it would be Nītsitapi. And for Bison/Buffalo it would change to īnī instead of iinii. Just my thought as I study multiple languages and this format is understood worldwide, which would ensure consistently accurate pronunciation, no matter the native language.

That makes sense! I was wondering why we weren't using that method for accents. On my dad's side, his grandma was full Blackfoot, and his grandpa was Scottish/Irish. So basically, I'm mixed, but trying to learn more about my Blackfoot roots.

ᑯᖳᒧᔈ Piatis maybe. It wouldn't mean anything in Blackfoot but it might mean something else entirely if it happens to sound like something else bh coincidence, it's from the Latin Beatrix

It's creation was headed by a white missionary but he did have at least one blackfoot collaborator whose name rarely gets mentioned & on top of that it's partly based off of the Cree Syllabary. Some blackfoot acquaintances of mine have amended the Syllabary to finally be able to write long & accented vowels By adding one new final , -a ᐩ & ̇ ̈ dot, & double, for accents on the top of the character the system becomes fully usable Some examples Naato'si ᖻᐩᒪᑊᓱ Kokomi-kisomm ᖾᖾᒍ ᖽᓴᐢ Iiníí ᖱᐟᖹ̈ Imitáá ᖱᒍᒣ̈
