Thanks for the explanations. That gave me a lot confidence in order to check the air filters. My filters only consist of a mesh with an additional fabric(?). There is no foam. I own a 749s built in 2003.

My friend gave me his 2017 gti alternator. I’m trying to fix it by regulator also.. not available on net where did u cross reference it

Good detailed analysis. Proving the plugs with OHMS testing was a good learning and testing after drying them out also. I expected them to come up fine once they dried out, but no...... What kills plugs?

Were you able to refit the tail piece etc? Build quality? Cost?

Yeah. I need to pop open both of my XBoxes open and take a look. They are working fine at the moment. I suspect the Halo XBox I have has one of the gold capacitors that doesn't need to be replaced.

How has this rebuild kit held up since? Trying to decide whether or not to rebuild or just go 1098 cuz that's a direct bolt up and from what I understand a better design.

Sounds like PSU problem.....its not providing the correct output voltages.

Good work , my advice though , crack open the oil filter housing first , as this releases more oil to the sump.
