Please advise because I am going to have to do-it-myself; consequently, I will be punching above my weight class. I cannot get any help from the swimming pool industry businesses. While I was wading in the swimming pool at night in June 2024, I noticed a couple of pool tiles that looked different from the rest of the tiles: I inspected them and realized that three-(3) fell to the swimming pool floor and I am sure that the rest of the tiles are in the process of losing grout and dislodging from the wall. This is when I learned that the brown tiles were a veneer covering the original tiles. I have conversed with a couple of swimming pool companies, which most don't actually perform the construction they subcontract the work to mason companies and they are useless: they all want to demolish our concrete/gunite swimming pool and build a new swimming pool. I have conversed with masonry companies about repairing our stamped concrete pool deck, which essentially also serve as the coping area. I have conversed with bath and tub installers and plumbers about repairing the tile - CRICKETS! I found the old receipts and learned that the pool essentially received a overhaul in phases by two different contractors. The first phase was installing the brown tiles over the original tiles in March 2008. The brown tiles were an aesthetic preference because my parents did not like the original tiles. The second phase was servicing the pool deck slabs [Slate Stone Design] in April 2009: this phase was done for safety concerns because when the pool deck got wet it was slippery. Both phases cost in the thousands. I remember Dad telling me that it was the record-breaking rain showers in early spring or late winter of 2014 that caused the pool deck slabs to shift and crack. In May 2018, approximately fifteen-(15) tiles fell into the swimming pool and a local pool company reattached the tiles. I contacted these companies and I do not hear back from them. We live in the panhandle of Florida south of Alabama, so most of the swimming pool companies and contractors serve business-to-business.

No diverter ? Shouldn’t high chlorinated or shock treated water go directly to return jets ? Instead of going through the heater ? Confused ?

My Cynuric acid is through the roof. Do I need to drain the pool or just start using non-stabilized chlorine, not use any tabs until it goes down?

It can crack and flake. Better off getting pavers. They are made of higher psi concrete, and won't flake.

I have the same gas Hayward heater. On hot summer days when the pool is 90° plus I noticed that the settings on my app, I can adjust the heater temp to close to 80°. Will this allow cold water to flow into the pool?

Very helpful. I just started researching types of pools and am considering fiberglass. Seems like the most affordable option, with plenty of sizes to choose from.

I can not find any instructions on how to run a backwash on this model of Filter. Is it something that needs to be done on each cleaning and is it even possible.

VERY LOW jumping off point. If you want anything other than a very “BASIC” setup (especially where equipment is concerned) you better open up your wallet and face reality. At those prices you’ll get a cheap sand filter, single stage pump (if allowed under code) and a chlorinator or floater for chlorine. You will get 1 skimmer and the fewest number of returns that they can get away with. You WON’T get a heater (which in most places in the Midwest is a necessity). You won’t get a flow meter on the system or a check valve (to prevent chlorinated water from backing up into the heater when pump is off) nor will you get a heater bypass (for times when pool water chemistry is out of whack and you want to bypass heater to prevent heater core damage). If you want a salt generator, that’s extra too. Most companies use the smallest diameter PVC Pipes that they can get away with. Insist on a minimum of 2” diameter PVC. Any other “toys” like slides, ladders, steps, fountains, robotic or automatic cleaner/vacuum, waterfalls, etc are all high $$$ add-ons. BTW, in most US States there is NO LICENSING REQUIREMENT to be a Swimming Pool Installer. Put up an ad, hire some people and away you go!! No Experience Necessary!
