You are really lucky you didn't get hit by lightning. The higher up, the easier it is to be struck. You should have been taking this from inside. It's an incredible video, but no video is worth your life.
Lightning seeks the quickest route to the ground. The higher up you are the greater the risk of being struck. You look like you were pretty high up. Pretty risky, especially as the strikes got closer... but... cool video. I'm glad you took the risk. LOL
You did an awesome job really caught some great pics the one at the end was really Awesome so big... Great Job I just love 💕 it. You had a beautiful spot too.
A supercell is in general a bigger thunderstorm cell caused by an updraft so deep and powerful it starts to rotate.(mesocyclone) They're the king of thunderstorms, and can be very dangerous. Mostly because of they're assosiation with severe winds, intense and frequent lightning, large hail and tornadoes.
Supercells are indeed caused by strong updrafts, but shear is a key ingredient. Shear is when winds blow in different directions at different levels of the atmosphere. The shear cause a spin to occur between the 2 air flows, then the updraft distorts that spin and makes the cloud rotate. The updrafts need to be powerful to do this, which is why supercells are so intense.
This was filmed from a very comfortable 1 bedroom 1 bathroom plus den apartment in the 50 Biscayne tower. Amaizing location and views...when the weather it's clear ahaha. You can buy it and live there or use it as a temporary rent unit. If you are interested contact me
just to give yu a warning please be very cautious when filming lightning especially on balconies i had a friend just recently got struck by lightning he is ok but has horrible nerve pain and sleepless nights because of it dont be stoopid
Very awesome storm!!! I imagine you see a lot of storms of that intensity in Florida. I love storms, however I don't know if I would want to be outdoors during one like that.
I too live in the UK and to be honest I'm glad we don't get storms quite as bad as this. I love watching it on videos and such but I'd be very uncomfortable if I was in it. Kudos to all of you who enjoy witnessing first hand the real deal.
I am English. I would love to witness this. I love thunder storms. We get at best...Iddy, biddy, tiny pathetic ones! I would pay good money to go through this. Luck, lucky people. A tornado, i would love to view from a distance, as long as it hurt no one. The power, the feeling of how small and indefensible you are against nature...wonderful!
I grew up in Miami - it's EVUH-REE-DAY from May to Oct. It's 'off the hook'. There's an ole saying in Miami - 'If you're struck by lightning once in Miami, you're gonna be beautiful. If you're struck a 2nd time in Miami, you're gonna be insane. If you're struck a 3rd time by lightning in Miami, you're gonna get the heck out of Miami'. I don't reside there no mo!
I echo all the UK folks who have commented we never see anything like this. Amazing and thank you for sharing and staying brave and capturing the moment.
Everything is bigger in usa, including the storms which is the thing i envy you guy the most with shooting ranges ! jaja. i'm from France and i violent storms are pretty scarce here...
9:51 gorgeous

Hi I'm from London England, excuse my ignorance but what is the difference between a supercell and an ordinary storm. Thanks.

Mostly because of they're assosiation with severe winds, intense and frequent lightning, large hail and tornadoes.

what kind of camera is used, it keeps getting EMP distortions so we see no bolts until 9:51.
This is Miami Florida!!!!!
If that's what Florida is like in the summer then all I can say is you can have it. More power to you folks who experience that regularly.
Intense
Lot of lightning in that storm and the lightning seems to get worst when the rain leaves.
That was one incredible storm!
OK, turn off the TV and let's go for a boat ride.
Thumbs up from me! A good one...lucky you!
