We had a great day, as always! 🚂
wow
David, thanks for taking and sharing
Caught most of the afternoon's activities nicely.
Seems a shame that a working loco now becomes a static exhibit, but at least it’s being preserved for others to see and take inspiration from.
It is my understanding that this was the wish of the builder
Billy passed away and the locomotive, a good representation of narrow gauge engines that ran from Larne is now in pride of place in Larne Museum.
great locomotive. why is it its last run?
When u knew machines still made u lose fingers if not more <3 steampunk ftw
2:36 that’s my dads old engine. I climbed on it as a kid. He shipped it from here in the states over there and we haven’t seen it since. It’s crazy seeing that in a video
I know the owner, Martin Keelan well and I have lots of photos of it too. The ones on the engine in the video are not the owners.
It is also on th-cam.com/video/WNt6vX2N_S4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=deoe5vacnH8ljX8p at around 9:51
@@wizzweb i dont know when my dad sent it out of iowa. he has sent tons of tractors over to england and that steam engine was one of them
@@cambagonia I understand this one came directly to Ireland
I enjoyed the parade, Richard from Canada.
that was a great weekend well done all....
Thank you
WOOOOOO
Are you going to do a video when it is alight David? It will be an amazing sight to see!!
Weather permitting I’ll do some video and some photos
@@wizzweb that’s would be brilliant David..hopefully you will get good weather. Looks like a huge amount of work went into building it
I worked on headway with my father for George Bettison from cresswell Derbyshire . Graet to find her still steaming along . Brings back so many memories 👍👍👍👍
Looks lovely David 👍
Haha very good operator lol.
I think he was first class Ian. Do you think the company would like to be tagged in this? David
David Heatley I'm sure they wouldn't mind.
Have they a Facebook page I could link it to?
David Heatley yea. Glendale Tree Services.
Eric Hughes 1929-2014 85 Amazing Years
Lol
Preston Steam Services at Canterbury have the history. My son was kindly allowed to drive it from time to time it is very impressive!
Seen this loco for sale can you give me any history
Good man David! Well done again on the video! It was brilliant! Great memories watching it of the great weekend!
ye you made a bit of a mess on the footplate
good stuff, loco and track
this could solve the carbon crap
the only problem is the smoke directly on the face
Holy Cow she can pull!
hello is this the eric that use to go to the model enginereing at the old fose england
probably
@wizzweb How much did you buy it for? I'm interested in buying a Lion/Titfield Thunderbolt.
what is the top speed? :D
You can always trust Eric to make it work!
Could you direct the steam back into the water tank so you could use the water again? i don't see any problem with that..
" I never mentioned perpetual motion. " Then why did you post the stupid statement "electric element, alternator to re-coupe some of that expenditure of energy all you'd really have to do is top up with water" as that will only WASTE energy, By the way if you have a decent condenser/radiator there can be very little water loss in a steam car Steam car club of Gt Britain web site look through the forum. Getting a steam car on the road in the UK is exactly as I posted Any thing else?
"Hmmm, electric element, alternator to re-coupe some of that expenditure of energy, all you'd really have to do is top up with water" Wrong. perpetual motion doesn't work "despite the long start-up time to get the water hot enough." Wrong Monotube boilered cars are underway in less thsan 60 seconds "Just tricky to jump through all the hoops." Get a MOT. Get insurance. (The company may require a boiler certificate) Done
Hello is the loco lead lined for traction because it looks wet and it did not wheel spin
lol you could pass the speed camera yet they'd only see steam great idea
nahh, he got a firewall to protect the driver from all that heat from the boiler
unless he can redirect the steampipe upward, shouldn't be a problem making it road legal
Reliant made 3 wheelers from the '30s to the 90's, they basically exploited a loophole in the law that classed a 3 wheeler as a tricycle, not a car so you only needed a bike license to drive one. As standard these had an 850cc 4 cylinder ohv engine, good for 80ish mph, 60+ mpg. It must be said that handling was not a strong point though.
Awesome! Can I have a ride?
that vertical boiler loco is a strange contraption.
What a brilliant idea! I blew a piston on a Reliant and had a large quantity of smoke comming out of the oil breather. I temporarily ran a hose to the rear of the vehicle and it looked as smokey as this does steamy. Great fun.
I must get mine finished ( just the boiler test to do )
it's amazing that a wee small engine can haul most of the club members
Looks like a 5" gauge model to LBCS's "Titfield" design
Is it coal, oil or wood powered?
Looking at the amount of steam escaping, I assume you don't have a condenser on this engine, and that your engine could be much more efficient than it is. Also, that has got to be the craziest design for a car! Cars were meant to have four wheels, lol!
looks fun!
Pretty Cool, seems like the people riding could show a little more enthusiasm.
