Yes and no. In theory it’s possible, in reality it’s not practical. There’s a reason why hydraulic oil is used as a medium in place of air (gas). I won’t be explaining it here as there is a lot online (google) A Pneumatic cylinder in place of a tipper hoist like in this video would not be practical

Almost at the end of this video,, how can the guy apply air into the cylinder to suck the rod all the way into the deep cylinder ?? why not use a hammer pound it in ???
