I had the same and lost a 10 year eBay account with over 700 positive over a fraudulent buyer…

It happened to me back in 2021, I would sell vintage guitars all over the world. From Australia to Poland. No damages or returns. This fraudster with no feedback from NYC owner of a roofing company purchased a high valued guitar, the package got there in 2 days fully insured, after 21 days he made a claim that the guitar was ruined! No proof of damage to guitar or packaging. Ebay sided with the buyer returned his money. He didn't return the guitar. I stopped selling and buying on Ebay. Ebay wants to follow Amazon's no hassle return policy. Ebay doesn't value their sellers, I had been with them since 2005.

SPRINGVILLE, AL, 35146... it's funny on the tracking it says it's from ROCHESTER, WA, 98579, yet it was shipped from JERSEY CITY NJ.

Sometimes It takes a minute to get ebay on the phone but I have always gotten them after a bit. Also I have had 0 issues with ebay not protecting me from fraudulent buyers. I'm not questioning your experience though, just wanted to share my experience. (Not been nearly as successful as you on ebay though so I have fewer instances to speak of)

Sounds like a dropshipper scam. Using your inventory to stock their business. Does the shipping address come up on Google maps? By the way if I was you I'd get rid of that evil elf thing hanging on that shelf behind you😂

File a complaint with BBB I've heard you'll get a call within a day or two.

Always take video of you opening the returned package. Show the address, clearly state in the video it's the return and your opening the package in the video showing it contents. Treat it like a police report...then ebay will back you.

If you’re a top rated seller and offer returns they allow you to keep up to half the funds and you can report the buyer for scamming. Its not perfect but its something.

Does Ebay allow you too block buyers with less then 10,,20 or 30 feedbacks? i would say block anyone with less then 20 positive feedbacks if possible....

Only way to get ahead with these returns are to give a partial refund of 50% without shipping, report and block the buyer.

I was a seller for almost 20 years...The last 2 years or so; there's been an explosion of 3rd worlders, buying and doing returns...Block anyone with less than 20 deals and 100% positive...If they have a foreign name; block them . I just lost 500.00 to a scammer...I'm officially done with ebay now...I like facebook/craigslist, local pickup only.

eBay just wants money they don’t care.. that said don’t offer returns problem solved

I remember receiving the same poly mailer but instead of a thank you card it was a paper that said something about one of my items being shipped soon. The paper looked like it was copied in a cheap printer and had no information about who they were.

Ebay needs to either allow negative feedback on buyers or allow sellers to filter out accounts with less than say 50 reviews.

I bought something and I got the item and then like 3 days LATER I got a package like that one you have from the SELLER with like 5 mini zip ties in it and a card that says, you'll get your order ASAP. Weird.

This is why I no longer sell on eBay. I spent more time disputing fraud and appealing cases then creating listings etc. eBay needs to allow sellers the ability to block guest checkouts. Also, nobody at eBay has 1/2 a brain cell. I used to report scammers, but since eBay doesn't do anything about it I stopped and shutdown my account.

I have been selling and buying on Ebay since 2000... I will tell you what you already know, Ebay doesn't care!!!! Their customer service is horrible at best!!! Whenever you can reach them by phone, you get someone from India that talks like they are reading out how to manual, and you can't understand half of what they say. 10 years ago, Ebay had good customer service, but now it just seems like another lazy corporate company that's just about the dollars. I mean the charge tax on shipping fee's, is that even legal? They allow sellers to send Ebay standard envelopes without enough postage on them, and the buyers have to pay more shipping costs to their post office. Also, the mysterious .29 cent fee on each and every order. Is that the founders cut? I wish somebody would come along and topple this big fat greedy company....

This is a shame. I used to sell an item here and there on eBay but found the fees getting too high.

The to and from weight alone should have convince them.

After 24 yrs of buying and selling on ebay about ready to leave. I have never had a neg in all those years. Had 2 in the past month! Both were what ebay used to remove per their own policies. "Doesn't fit" even though size clearly listed and Buyer sniped and paid even though at the time they were a zero bidder clearly not allowed as per my TOS all caps. I rejected the order they got instant refund and still left neg calling me Dishonest! Ebay refused to remove the negs against their own policy. Mercari here I come.

I put in my description that "I do not sell to new buyers with no feedback". If there is a purchase, I reach out explaining the situation and ask for confirmation of their address as well as a short explanation for their purchase. If I don't hear back, I cancel. If they seem out of the ordinary or I don't get a good feeling, I cancel. My fraudulent claims have dropped 99%. If this happens again, file a mail fraud report with the carrier, and file an IC3 report online. Do this before contacting ebay. This way you have case numbers. Ebay may ask you if you filed a theft report with your local law enforcement. Say no. If you filed the IC3, it is now a federal case and not local. Provide ebay with the case numbers and photos. Send the photos to the BUYER! Ebay will see that you spent some valuable time and will refund you. What becomes of the buyer is unknow.

I always video any returns. Showing the received sealed package/envelope, address label. Videoing - I then open it and show everything inside. You can also take note of the weight on the return, to see if it matches the same weight as sent. Disgusting that we have to go to such lengths. I did have a scammer write and say that the item I sent, wasn't what they ordered and wanted refunded. On looking up, I had never sold that item to this ebayer. He also stated an incorrect pricing of the refund that he expected. I laughed at him and told him that I would let ebay take care of it. They had hacked someone else's account and ebay could see numerous fraudulent activities, I spoke with ebay under the contacting an assistant virtually, it will show the conversation on the bottom right corner.

This is why I don't accept refunds, I take multiple pics of the item, leave clear descriptions and if it's a high value item, I require a signature. I don't accept offers from buyers without an ebay history and block these fraudulent buyers. I rarely have any issues.

Make sure the money is in your account before sending..

The death of Ebay will be the inability to properly contact them to resolve issues bc on the flipside as a buyer I could not for the life of me find a way to contact ebay for an item that fell defective 3 months later while under 1 yr warranty in listing. After the buyer just stopped replying to my messages, there was NO WAY I could even create a dispute with Ebay. I tried everything but since it was past the 30 day return period there was no "contact ebay" tab... Is there a way that I did not see can anyone advise because like this video states thete is no such thing as getting Ebay on the phone in 2024!!!

This is why you don't accept returns. No automatic returns.

Easy fix. No returns accepted unless received different then description.

You are not the first time get this card. There are sites that teach people how to do this.

The exact same thing, exact same thank you card, exact plastic envelope happened to us except eBay sided with us as a seller. Probably July of 2024 and it’s currently September of 2024. eBay is the one who should file mail fraud not the buyer. They should work with local law enforcement to clear out the most egregious of violators.

Yes eBay does not care. Fraudulent buyers can just open new accounts all of the time. eBay take massive commissions but do not vet the buyers properly.

So do we as ebay sellers have to cancel orders when it's purchased by a sketchy buyer now. That's ridiculous. Im sorry man.

I have called Ebay many times and they have always been very helpful. Start at help at keep going with all the questions. It definitely is not easy but you can get a call back.

I bet the scammer is going to resell those items.

If you allow returns you are asking for trouble.

Ebay isn't what it once was. In the past you could get a live person on the phone not anymore! I just went through this a couple of days ago when FedEx delivered to the wrong address. You do need to file a complaint with the attorney general's office. You'll get no where with postal authorities.
