They never worked right. The only reliable pattern was all rotate. Everything else was hit and miss at best.

At least half have a halogen bulb. I'd have a halogen bulb in all of them. But great video. I have red, green, and blue. My power supply cannot run more than one, and doesn't last long before it gets too hot and shuts one down.

Exact same car and lightbar as the sheriff car in motel hell. That one was two toned brown and tan with generic county sheriff badges on doors.

these were late 80s like 1987-88'ish when Indiana moved to the red/blue. (before then Indiana was red only) I wish ISP would bring these kind of lightbars back

Cool retro light bars! My hometown of Kingman Arizona had red and amber globe light bars on their police vehicles in the mid seventies. On Halloween, the department placed pumpkin covers over them and patrolled the neighborhood, handing out candy to all of us trick-or-treaters. A unique childhood memory for sure.

Indiana State Police use to run with these all the way into 70's. You never missed a ISP car. You could land Aircraft with this beacon.

No center rotator is very annoying

They were great light bars because they put out a lot of unobstructed light. Too bad they weren’t very aerodynamic.

Hi mate. Brilliant Vid. I've just managed to get myself an Amber "Dietz 7-40" and it's brilliant. One of the bulbs is out but the motor is working fine (it seems to be turning slower than yours) although I am using 12V with a 60W transformer. Is that sufficient do you think? Do you have any idea where I might get a red and a blue? Any tips? Please PM me if you can help! Thanks so much. Dave

I have a 044 in my collection and am finally getting around to rehab the chromium lamp holder plate. It came equipped with a Tridon EL13A electronic alternating flasher. Unfortunately, its hangs up on one cycle lighting the two opposite bulbs and buzzes. You don’t by chance have the wiring diagram do you? I have the Federal 044 parts list and exploded view. Any help is appreciated.

Back when yellow was yellow. Not that horrible amber orange crap. Also LOVE halogen. Not that horrible LED crap they have these days.

What is the amperage rating for the beacons?
