Ignite your senses at the Winter Arts Festival 2024
The City of Casey’s Winter Arts Festival is back for 2024 offering an exciting line-up of arts, cultural and entertainment experiences to warm up your winter.
This year’s festival will run throughout June and July offering more than 60 events across Casey, including a curated program of winter warmers at the region’s home of entertainment - Bunjil Place.
Now in its 22nd year, the festival is the southeast’s largest annual celebration of the arts. From interactive experiences and workshops to engaging performances and immersive art installations, the festival program offers something for all ages and interests.
Bunjil Place is proud to be part of the festival with events and activations taking place across the precinct in June and July.
Highlights of the Bunjil Place program include:
• Hybycozo Deep Thought installation: Delve into the realms of geometry, math, and science intertwined with traditional pattern design when Hybycozo’s mesmerising installation Deep Thought lands in the outdoor plaza from Friday 28 June to Sunday 28 July.
• Hybycozo Launch Party: Be among the first to marvel at Hybycozo's five larger-than-life geometric sculptures at the opening night celebration on Friday 28 June. The launch party will be packed with entertainment to complement the installation including live, original music by Dave Prideaux composed specifically for Hybycozo, mesmerising performances by dancers in post-apocalyptic attire, local performers, and delicious food options.
• School of Rock presented by Windmill Theatre Company: This highly anticipated musical promises an electrifying experience that will have audiences on their feet. Based on the beloved film, School of Rock tells the story of Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star who poses as a substitute teacher and transforms a class of straight-A students into a rock band.
• Queers of Concert: After a sold-out triumph in 2023, local queen of drag, Brenda Bressed is returning to host another fabulous evening of song, laughs and dazzle on Saturday 22 June.
• The South East Area Throwdown: Back for another year, the Southeast Sessions are bringing an afternoon of vibrant and dynamic street dance culture for all ages on Saturday 29 June.
• Kids Dancehall Workshop: Join Jungle City on Saturday 29 June for a fun exploration of Jamaican Dancehall and Afro Fusion. Learn basic grooves, rhythms and fun party dance steps accessible to all age groups and dance abilities.
• Kids Breakin' Workshop: Join Demi Sorono for a deep dive into breakin’ for kids on Saturday 29 June. Designed for children aged 5 - 14-years-old, participants will earn basic popping, locking and fun dance steps.
• Escalate: Australia’s best jugglers will rip through an explosive hour of entertainment on Tuesday 2 July, pushing the boundaries of their art with a unique eye for musicality and timing. Effortlessly blending rhythm and movement with juggling, it’s stylish, playful and curious.
• Impro Workshops - In The Spotlight: Learn improvisation to fall in love with the spotlight! This improvisation workshop on Thursday 4 July will focus on being spontaneous using creative play, active participation, and lots of laughter.
