Logging in more than 4 decades as a graphic designer in this industry, I’ve experienced the evolution from what was once considered “conventional” design application to what is now identified as “digital” design application.
My strengths and skill set as a designer lie almost exclusively in “InDesign.”
As a former “Quark” user, it was a “hard sell” to get me to move over to InDesign back in the early 2,000’s as Quark was the industry standard at the beginning of this whole “desktop revolution.” However, in very short order, it became apparent to me that the “winds of change” were blowing, and I quickly realized that if I didn’t want to be “left out in the cold,” I’d better make the transition (sooner versus later) … Truth be told, it was probably the “best” professional decision I’ve ever made in my professional career.
Most of what I publish are “trouble shooting” techniques and “work arounds” in InDesign, Acrobat and a little Illustrator.

Jerome Duran with real-world examples! 💯 Thanks so much!
Only if you have Acrobat Pro... However, you'd be better served if you make copy edits in the "native" application.
Does the text remain editable after the import?
How we can edit the text?

I have one more case for export pdf files to Indesign This script can export pdf (after opened in Illustrator) to editable Indesign file (only as non formatted text) th-cam.com/video/k5ucrQPPyEo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=v-r_0orDCaTTXvT2
Thanks dude, this really helped :D
You’re welcome
@@JeromeDuran55 I tried to do that and for some reason, when I double click (on a mac, held down the option/command) it didn't go to photoshop?
@@bcherish1 Hi Ms. Young, I will reply to your comment with a quick video I'm in the process of making... Stay tuned
@@bcherish1 As promised... Click on the link below to view a "quick" explanation as to what I believe the problem could possibly be: th-cam.com/video/LV-4lA4t8nA/w-d-xo.html
omg thank you i love this video keep making more
Thank you... If there's anything else you'd like to see, just let me know.
what page size we should Create in indesign to import the pdf
It can be any size you'd like because you can increase or decrease the placed file much like you would do an image... I typically do it on a standard letter size document as that's the size most of my clients typically print out.
@@JeromeDuran55 thank you, you are awesome
@@JeromeDuran55 sir how to set the new document in indesign when i import a pdf, marks and bleed should be set in indesign document?
@@ozonelayerhole1371 If I understand your question correctly, the "imported" document (the PDF file you're trying to place in InDesign) should already have crops and bleeds built into it. The placement options that InDesign gives you are options for "you" to decide if you just want to place the file at the "trim" size, at the "bleed size" and (or) at the "crop" size.
@@JeromeDuran55 sir why they bring a pdf with crop and bleed inside indesign? when we import a pdf it already has crop & bleed, when we save the imported pdf we can turn off the crop and bleed marks in export option?
Dude any suggestions how to import a illustrator (graphics and texts) into InDesign and also edit it?
Thank u very much. It so helpfull... Good job! Tq again
Good tutorial, thank you
thanks Jerome, useful stuff :D
Thanks. Great video. I have been looking all morning on how to create this in Indesign, and yours is the only one I had found. :)
You're very welcome
First of all, thank you so much for making this youtube video! That's what I want right there at 3:24! I get the pinning. To confirm about the Y-axis placement: what you're saying is that I should space it down using a transparent rectangle?
This was so helpful thank you so much(: I'm so proud of myself I got this now lol.
Thank you sir!!!
Thanks Jerome, how would you deal with an ad being brought into a 2 page spread? e.g. where the ad is to be placed on page 2, with page 1 containing simple text. I don't want to see the bleed appearing on page 1.
Ok... There are several ways this can be done. But I would recommend dropping the "spread pdf" on our spread InDesign layout, then do a "step and repeat" setting both the horizontal offset and vertical offset to zero. Once that's done, I would collapse the frame on the text page to expose only the text, and then collapse the "ad page" to expose only the ad, and not the text next to it. Ultimately, you would end up with 2 image frames on your page versus 1.
