Flying to the United States… for real this time
มุมมอง 2237 หลายเดือนก่อน
Well, this time we really did get to fly to the United States from Hong Kong. We started by flying to San Francisco; then proceeded to Portland, Oregon, where my parents picked us up. And that ends my time living in China.
Flying to the United States… or did I?

Our time to fly to the United States has finally come. We travelled to Hong Kong International Airport for a flight to San Francisco… but things got a bit off plan.

(3:53) The drive-in fast food place, the mall, the park, this could be anywhere in California and in nearby states. There are American towns with no pedestrian pavements. Nobody is supposed to walk. In the US, except for a few large cities, driving is a must. So is owning guns for many Americans. Planning to rename the channel?

Well, good to see the old stomping grounds. My dad and I built 20+ houses in and around Florence in the late 70's. Went to school at Reedsport High School when it was the home of the Braves, before it lost it's spine and didn't tell the state to bugger off about the name. My father retired from Winchester Bay's Salmon Harbor in 94. Moving back up A.S.A.P. I agree with you about Eugene. The joke when I was a kid was that Eugene was layed out like someone took a pot of cooked spaghetti, threw it in the air, then decided when it landed that that's the way the town should be layed out. Just ran across your channel. Have fun. Mike

love this very informative and educational other than just reading about it. the refugees went thru alot but guess you can say being here became their future away from the Nazis where in they might not have survived if not for this place as millions did not survive. After ww2 many lef tofr Israel, USA, Cnada, etc. but many stayed here as this esp if they came here young or were born here was their home. SHALOM. PEACE. ✡

Home sweet home, congrats. The end of COVID brings many changes as expected. The South China Morning Post published articles about an exodus of expatriates from China in the last few days. No worry, there will be a new batch of younger expats trickling in for business and job opportunities. 2024 is a big year of transition. If Trump is back in the WH come 2025, all those like-minded allies of the Biden admin will flip: NATO, Philippines, S Korea, G7. They better have a plan-B.

Hello, TH-cam recommended your channel. Dude, you look tired, like you haven't really had a good night's sleep. Are you feeling alright? I was wondering if you could make a video in which you do or don't recommend being an English teacher in 2024. Is it still a viable career? I'm from southern California. I have a degree and a clean record.

Unless they have recently travelled to China, or have been watching the expats' blogs from China, Americans and Canadians have no idea how dilapidated their transportation systems are and falling behind by the day. China's tier-1 cities are beyond their imagination. Ignorance about China is the oxygen that feeds American politicians during their incessant election cycles.

Construction costs of subways are hugely prohibitive, maintenance is expensive. That's why all the subways systems in North America are only found in major cities and they are all very old and some decrepit, like the ones in New York City. Just looked up that Huizhou is a second tier city. Thought it is third tier city. "Rafa Goes Around" reported on another tier-2 city's subway system, Harbin in North-Eastern China. Very impressive. Tier-1 Shenzhen's subway station looks more like an airport terminal. Breathtakingly beautiful.
