Looks to me like it's still a fudge which doesn't eliminate all of the existing problems! So glad I'm retired and not having to negotiate this nightmare(twice) on workdays!
Will be full & obsolete within 5 years. Way too many cars on the SE's roads now.
What is the red bridge?
New foot, cycle and horse riding bridge
I haven’t seen the drawings, but it looks like this project involves dedicated or free flow left turn lanes on all four corners of the junction. This and signalisation are the go to solutions for alleviating congestion at grade separated roundabouts. It’s nothing new and has been done in many places for donkey’s years. The only new thing is calling the segregated lanes ‘jet lanes’. The roundabout is already signalised. The left turn lanes will take traffic out of signal control, leaving the signals to deal with right turning traffic only. This will reduce congestion, but I doubt if it will eliminate it. Certainly not in the medium term and beyond since traffic will continue to grow. If the design year traffic forecasts for this junction had been anywhere near accurate, it would never have been built as s three level roundabout. A fully grade separated junction was and is required. In other words, connector roads for all turns and no roundabout eg a motorway to motorway standard interchange.
When I was a child I had a toy called the Gigant Construction Site were dumper trucks moved around a vac formed base delivering their loads of little plastic marbles into hoppers that automatically loaded the next truck... magic times.
I had an old tonic grader which I used to play at my great uncles in Frimley I love that toy :)
I Can't Wait To See What They Do When They Installed The Bridge
I am hoping to be there when they install it if possible.
Still long queues on the A3 N/B and I saw several vehicles queue jumping by using lane 1 of the off-slip and cutting in at the last minute
Looking at the video looks like only 8 cars get through the "right turn" traffic lights to enter the roundabout each cycle. (look at 3:12) Might explain the are long queues.
I think that was the problem, this will be the case until the new roundabout is in use and the jet slip roads fully opened any not signal controlled.
This whole junction is a disaster. It should have been built with continuous sliproads and not a roundabout right from the start. The amount of time and money that has been wasted is incredible and at huge cost to the nation.... not to mention the lost hours of many road users stuck in the huge number of traffic jams over the decades - and the loss of the Hut Hotel, Wisley
What’s the definition of a ‘jet’ lane?
It is a free flowing lane which doesn’t join the main junction roundabout.
Why are the New gyratory bridges not the same distances from the existing roundabout ?
I have been wondering the same thing.
@@aviewthroughthelens I imagine there will be a very good reason as to why
It's Nice To See The Left Turns On Each Corner Of The Junction And I'm Glad It Can Be Used
Is the bridge between Junction 10 and Cobham Services? Haven't been that way for over a year!
It is the other side of the junction between junction 10 and junction 9
Great to see how the slip roads are working, still seems a back up when coming in from Ripley. When we did it three weeks ago the lane changing coming off the A3 for the M25 was frightening, at least now the slip to Heathrow appears to be flowing quickly once past Wisley, however getting around the roundabout to go towards Leatherhead seems rather slow! Thank you for the update.
Agreed I think I'll still head across country South of Guildford. The flow A3N to M25E seems very constricted
@@colinshearring3934 Yes, we've been using the A246/A24/A25 to get to Reigate, though we usually come back along the motorway if the satnav says it's not too busy.
Is this where the new Frimley park hospital will be.
No it is going to be warehouses
Great video as usual - thanks for producing it. I'm slightly obsessed by your footage of this project! Are you able to share a source for the Wisley Lane bridge opening date announcement? I can't see anything on the National Highways website.
It came from Jonathan Wade the project manager who commented on one of my videos. Thank you for your views and comments.
@@aviewthroughthelens The opening date will be on the National Highways website and elsewhere quite shortly. We are cautious in putting too much up at once - the north facing jet lanes last weekend, installing Clearmount bridge scheduled for 2nd November and then targeting opening the new lane as Rob suggested. Just a small point though. Rob referred to speed calming bends. It was actually so the bridge was square on the approach to Stratford Brook, (an area which floods badly) and then further bends to keep clear of the heavily protected ancient woodland between the new Wisley Lane and A3.
Thanks Jonathan.
Number 1 from me.
Great update.
Thanks!
Very helpful… thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
The eventual roundabout is going to be a VERY weird shape - the southern overbridge is particularly out of alignment! I hope they tie it in a bit faster than the A46 Stoneleigh Junction near Coventry, where the new roundabout overbridge has been standing in position, orphaned for nearly TWO YEARS! They have blamed a lack of back-fill material to build the side-walls! Hopeless!
For me; either 1 or 2. The rest could be confused with the area you are filming as they are streets and houses.
Wisley Lane Diversion between Ockham Park roundabout, over the new bridge and to a point close to RHS entrance is scheduled to open 11 November. There will be temporary traffic signals in place outside the RHS Garden for a few days after opening as the tie in takes place.
Thanks! How do you activate these cameras?
Depends what you want to show the audience of what your business is. Personally I like option 2 as it gives photographic value with excellent lighting and the mist. The others show nice flybys.... But it is just that flybys.
Great for motorists, great for trains - it's a win win!!!
No 4
Option 1 please
Oooh this is like the Usa presidential election. Erm slight error after №4 you forgot to change №6 to №5. Erm... I kinda don't know I'm afraid... Cuz I have a memory of a goldfish.... 🐟
Option 2 for me thank you.
Thank you Results so far - Option 1 = 0, 2 = 1, 3 = 0, 4 = 0, 5 = 0
So looking forward to Monday’s video Rob! Can’t wait to see how it will have opened up. Excellent work as always, keep it up!
Thank you for the comment, it may not be Monday due to the weather, it maybe next weekend, sorry.
Looks horrendous. Used to use it every day - setting off at 6am to avoid the worst of the traffic. Thank goodness we moved “up north” almost 20 years ago!
Cool. Hey dude. Erm are you able to travel from Northamptonshire to Wiltshire's landmark stonehenge? Cuz I was thinking what would be your winter solstice intro & outro be? 🤨 I know your busy and some times uncommonly travel to the M25 J10. ;-;
That is worth a thought!
@@aviewthroughthelens oh. Yes exactly. 🙂
has to be completed after the closure, the last closure they done A LOT
Another great video, thanks. Both of the northern slip roads (jet lanes) from anticlockwise M25 onto the London bound A3 and southbound A3 onto the anticlockwise M25 towards Gatwick are due to come into use during the coming weekend 19/20 October. The following weekend from 10pm Saturday 26 until 10:00 Sunday 27, Clearmount Bridge, currently in a field beside the M25 just north of the junction will be jacked up and wheeled sideways onto the M25. Then all 450 tonnes will be wheeled along the motorway and jacked into position in almost the same location as the previous Clearmount bridge. The new one has a longer span to allow for wider sliproads. The new bridges over the M25 joining up the whole new interchange are due to be opened early 2025.
Shame I cannot get on site to film that bridge being moved.
@@aviewthroughthelens Installation delayed by one week to overnight Saturday 2 November
About darn time pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders got their access back to Wisley Common.
How long will it take to get completed
Sounds like youtube messed with the sound of the video, it sounds a bit muffled like they do when they think there is a licensing issue. TH-cam: guilty until proven innocent.
Another great update, thanks!
As someone who visits RHS Wisley, hopefully this will be open very soon?
Slow it down!!! What's the rush? Give us a chance to look at the details!!
You can change the playback speed in the options.
Absolutely enjoy seeing your videos, this one has been a year in the wait. We have so long been waiting for the turn left slips to open and they finally have, I guess next week they will open the other two that are still shut. Its amazing to see the progress from above. My dad was a CE and would have loved to have seen this type of footage when he was working his projects before he retired, but that was pre drone era sadly!
It's a pity the bridlepath is so close to the A3. I'm sure it'd be much more pleasant if it was further back amongst the trees, but maybe that's private land? I guess some new planting along the route would help.
I heard they are planting a tree barrier once the road widening is finished
Is it just me or does the new Wisley bridge look a bit too narrow for 2 lane traffic (presumably) and walkers/cyclists?
It is very wide there is plenty of room.
I thought that, the pavement/cycleway looks a lot wider!!
Had a near miss here today, had to go back just to see what madness this junction had become. The lack of traditional zebra crossing lines , no raised circle for the roundabouts and the ridiculous coloured leaves everywhere is a recipe for disaster. How this got approved is a mystery. Try negotiating this junction for the first time in the dark and rain, then tell me it's a good idea. The phrase " more money than sense" springs to mind. Hopefully it won't take a fatality to review this ridiculous design.
Great video. Work comng along.
Thanks
Work coming along. Great video.

Great video. Work coming along.

Surprising how quick they can take them down. Great video.
Any idea when the bridge is being put in place? I'm assuming not this year 🤔
Steve a Ockham Bites said the bridge is here being stored by the m25 but probably early 2025 I would guess v
Is the a3 through this section being widened and straightened towards the end of the work?
Yes according to the plan once they have finished the living bridge
Why does it need straightening?
All this upheaval to permit the building of houses in Wisley?
To sort out one of the UK’s most heavily congested junctions*
