Round N Shiny
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 5 ก.พ. 2023
Hello, my name is Michael (roundnshiny). Join me on my adventure collecting, buying, selling, and hunting for old rare and interesting coins and currency. I collect mostly US coinage old and new as-well as world coins, currency, bullion, and anything coin related I find interesting. I also enjoy coin roll hunting from time to time. I have been a casual collector since childhood when my grandfather introduced me to the hobby. Now my casual hobby has turned into an obsession. My goal is to learn as much as I can, grow my collection, and meet likeminded people.
Did I meet my goals for 2024?
Collecting coins is a long but rewarding hobby. Last year I set a few collecting goals for myself to try to really dig in to a few specific sets. Now 1 year later I share how I did.

Nice job in 2024
Thank you very much
Keep collecting, 24 was a good year for me, completed me first ounce of gold... I love walkers..
Congrats man! I think 2025 will be a gold accumulation year for me. Did you buy fractional or save up for the full ounce?
@roundnshiny 1/4 ounce fracs
Impressive on the Canadian large cent and thanks for sharing. Cool to see the old and new coin books -
@@PolarCurrency thank you for watching and the support.
You did an awesome job! Can’t wait to watch how you grow in the next year
@@alphabudgets thank you. Slow and steady.
Nice job!

Nice custom work on the Dansco. Congrats on the set.
@@CoinsMakingCents thank you, I would love to take credit for the Dansco, but it was actually made by DanscoDude on instagram.
Excellent video sir. Very educational. Something every coin collector should see.
@@CoinsMakingCents thanks man! And thank you for sharing the video.
Fractional currency was a substitute for a lack of coinage during that time.
@@StarATL great info thank you
I found another Numismatist that enjoys currency like I do. I thank you for posting this video. I collect currency as well. Take care.
A great collection with some classic notes! Love the album. First off way to bury the lead! That Johnston. PA $5 1902 National! That is fantastic - especially from your home town. (Sidebar I'm super jealous as my home town national bank did not issue currency.) If you only had one note - that would be enough! AND you have a $1 1896 Silver Certificate - pair it up with an 1896 Morgan - because that's what that note was backed by. And the note lists famous "Americans" - the U.S. was coming onto the world stage so they wanted to brag a bit. The note is part of the Educational Series titled "History Instructing Youth" and was an attempt to bring art, knowledge and culture "to the people". Call it the reverse or back - either term works! Speaking of there was some controversy to the back at the time - the general public didn’t approve of how the back of the note was set-up. They complained saying “no one should come between George and Martha Washington.” The first family was so revered that it was an insult to place a large “1” as the center piece of the note. Don't know if that's a real thing or a real bad pun! You have a great collection started with the MPCs and Fractionals. The Postage Currency was the first "fractional" note and was used for coinage because all metals were being hoarded by the public during the Civil War so they still had to make change. The laws couldn't change fast enough so stamps served as "coin currency" the Postage Currency was made to get around the legal tender laws until Congress could pass new legislation. And a WWII $1 Hawaiian! Completely agree with collecting Canadian coins and notes - the 24 cent "Shinplasters"! I have the same story as you - not from there, no relatives but love collecting Canadian Currency - and they have some great large size notes from the 1920s. You could continue your $1 Canadian Collection with their 1935, you have the 1937, 1954, 1967 Commemorative and 1973. Inexpensive and a good representation of beautiful currency. As you are primarily a coin collector I would suggest you get at least one large size Gold Certificate and another Silver Certificate. The Series 1922 $10 and the Series 1899 $1 "Black Eagle". Both were backed by gold and silver, etc. Another note for a coin collector is the 1891 $1 Treasury Note, also backed by silver/gold - it has "In Coin" printed right on the front. Thanks for sharing Round N Shiny - fun to see what a coin collector picks up for currency!
@@PolarCurrency Awesome information thank you! You are an endless fountain of information. Both useful and useless lol. I will take those suggestions to heart for sure. I also would love a $5 Morgan back and I have my eye on a different Johnstown National.
That graded note is pretty cool, especially with the hometown connection for you. Very nice.
@@shawn951951 thanks man! I was excited to get it. Johnstown has a tremendous amount of history is this note is just a small part of it.
Love the Franklin FR2 - that's awesome. Seems like pretty good results (coming from a currency guy doesn't mean much.)
@@PolarCurrency thank you! I find it quite awesome myself, and yes I was very pleased with the results. If CACG ever gets into currency grading I would highly recommend you to give them a shot 👍

@@larryvercauteren22 you know I didn’t even think of that 🤔
💯 solid take ! Very nice p/u ! I heard you say ! Morgans out ! I'm new to collecting ! Very new. You seem very seasoned and very knowledgeable in the collecting realm . Where would you advise someone to start out today on collecting / investment grade coins ? Any books you suggest on this awesome hobby ? Thank you for your time and share . Idk what your using for camera but dang good zoo. Quality. ✌️
early Canadian silver is very interesting. The 1921 silver is the big one and, by our prices, is quite affordable for a rare coin. ICCS graded coins are quite desirable. Makes the old PCGS look liberal in grading.
@@Alan1234x I agree… Canadian coinage as a whole can be quite interesting. I don’t pay too much attention to graded foreign coins, especially if they are not in a top 3/4 grading companies holder but I just might keep an eye out for that. Thank you.
nice
@@smitchlego thank you my man!

We went to this show
@@Dr650rob how did you like it?
@roundnshiny we liked it but we can never make it early enough on Saturday and dealers are leaving before we hit all of the tables
What’s the silver content in those Canadian 5 centers? 80%?
@@alwaysseekingsilver they are sterling silver (.925)
I agree that Franklins are underrated and undervalued. I’m working on a PCGS graded set in all MS64FBL or better (except for the unattainable’53-S which I have in MS65 without the FBL). I have 7 left to get, just like your Walker set. Nice pickups. Good luck on completing your Walker set by the end of the year.
@@alwaysseekingsilver thank you, fingers crossed I can complete it. That is going to be an awesome set when you complete it! I’d love to know what your favorite Franklin in that set is?
@ Of the ones I have currently, it’s between 2. First is the 1948 in MS65FBL due to being a first year of issue. The other would be the 1952-S in MS64FBL just based on its value.
@@alwaysseekingsilver Awesome!
Nice pickups but we need to get you something rectangle and dull...!
@@PolarCurrency I tried collecting cardboard boxes but just didn’t get any joy out of it. I’ll have to show you my currency collection instead 😂
@@roundnshiny Smart Ass huh!? I really appreciate that!
your welcome 👍 In all seriousness I do have a small currency collection I will have to bring out for the camera soon.
Nice selection of coins you submitted. The ugly franklin is the most worn one I've ever seen. Glad you rescued it. Could you put a link to your ebay please? I couldn't find it in my search. I don't think their "search" engine works very well.
@@vinnieg.6746 thank you 🙏 www.ebay.com/usr/roundnshiny let me know if this works… you may have to copy and paste as I have not found a way to easily add clickable links. Otherwise there is a link on my channel page.

Well thank you
That Franklin lowball half is awesome, I really enjoy lowball coins so much history! Anyways following you here and on eBay

Beautiful coins. Thank you for sharing 👍
@@silverpatriotLoveGodLoveMan and thank you for watching me share my good sr 👍
Love this. Wish you had a longer version that’s not a short, so we could study it just a few seconds longer for each slab (maybe you do?). Would be great to see a similar progression through the NGC holders too.
@@alwaysseekingsilver thanks for watching. I do have plans to do a video for both NGC and ANACS aswell. I may do a long form video for ANACS (lots of progressions and history there) 🤷♂️
Nice selection! Gave you a like and sub.
Awesome! Thank you so much
I learned the trick to Walking Libs, sometime ago I heard to look for a complete left hand (the one over her body). I have yet to receive anything below a 65 since, and I’ve had several graded.
@@Juan_Doooh thanks for the info. That is helpful 👍
Four weeks? I got my membership, but haven’t used them yet. Maybe on my next submission.
@@Juan_Doooh yep they were very quick comparably. Keep in mind I selected the standard grading category which is faster then Economy, and I live one state above their grading center. Any questions that have AMAZING customer support with a real person.

@@A.M.T.V. thanks for watching. I find it pretty cool and unique aswell.

CACG is so hyper conservative on grading. If you send the au58 to ngc or pcgs itd likely be ms62/3
@@tomsrandomness I knew they were conservative and I am no amazing grader but Holly buckets! I couldn’t believe this did not get ms. O well it was all for fun anyways and I learned a lot.
@@roundnshiny the good thing is that we buy the coin not the holder haha best looking 58 on earth ha
Stop farting
I thought PCGS was wayyyyy older than that
@@smitchlego nope… 3rd party grading as a whole actually has only been around since 1979 with ANACS.
Very interesting to see different process for coins and CACG - thanks for sharing.
@@PolarCurrency thank you for watching
This is very awesome! Also very helpful as you could see in my last video i have a hard time identifying what green holder is which haha
PCGS has a great little showcase of the generations of holders and how to tell the difference (PCGS Museum of coin holders). It’s a great little resource.
