RIP Fou Ts'ong (10 March 1934 - 28 December 2020) Celebrated Chinese pianist and pedagogue, also the third prize winner at the 1955 Chopin Competition. I remember hearing that Martha Argerich played for Fou Ts'ong in preparation for the 1965 Chopin Competition, which she went on to win. I've listened to many recordings of this piece. I don't think there are any better. This interpretation is brilliant and the performance is perfect. The conductor is pretty darn cool too along with the whole orchestra. This is one that people should be watching a hundred years from now.

It can be heard that Martha Argerich, while adhering to the healthy and bright style required for the Chopin Piano Competition, still subtly conceals her personality. If she were to perform etude op.25 no.6 again in other live concerts after the competition, we might hear an even more exuberant and unbelievably fast interpretation.

Chopin's heart is preserved in an obelisk in Warsaw. At some point they removed it and refreshed the brandy in the jar, and put it back for the next century. Talk about a fan base.
