With rain on the horizon, we diverted off the Darling River Run to learn about Broken Hill and Silverton's mining and movie history. Although we'd heard about the region, we were unsure what to expect and found so much to learn and see in this Outback NSW region! After exploring the region, we encounter more problems with continuing our Darling River Run........ Music used in this video: Arm Ca...

The 'Mungo Man' and Mungo Lady are historically significant as they were the oldest human remains, estimated to be 40,000 years old, outside of Africa. Believe it or not, this is our first stay on the Murray River and won't be our last. We decided to stop and rest while Peter recovered from eye surgery and found a fab FREE camp at Horseshoe Bend, near Cobram. Yes, it got hectic for the 4 main days of the Easter Break and all bar one lot of campers were respectful of others enjoying the spot. We LOVED our stay and will return to this, and other...

Have you been considering a composting toilet for your caravan or RV? We installed one in our van 6 weeks ago and show you how we did it. No, we're not experts, just 2 full-time caravanners who wanted to change from the cassette style of loo. We show you how we installed our Nature's Head composting toilet, explain why we chose it over Ogo, and review it after lots of use, including emptying in...

Hi Guys, great video! My wife and I are looking at getting one for our big lap. Are you still using your porta bote or have you gone in a different direction?
We still have the Portabote but haven’t used it as much as we anticipated we would. When we have used it, we’ve loved having it. We’ve been reluctant in croc areas or when it’s quite choppy. A tinny with high sides would def be more versatile if you have the spare weight.
Thank you, great videio. It would have been a hard life in the shearing shed. Very interesting.
Thanks
What a great video!
its like living like Neanderthals going backwards--- ill keep my cassette, this is 50 times the work--- no hygiene at all and a filthy thing to do in van--
does the dish store flat at the top of box? What about the stand? Does a Gen3 take require much smaller box despite larger footprint?
The dish and stand store in the box, much like in the box it came in. We rarely put it in though, usually leaving it mounted on top, placing the box in the entrance of the van on travel days. We only put it in the box when we take the dish camping away from the van. I’m not sure re a Gen 3 as we don’t have one.
I’ve seen a few people with them on the ocean. Pretty crazy, but we need crazy people to test the limits of things.😊 Thank you for the video. Be careful with those crocs!!!
Was wondering where you got the cover for the bote from. Thanks
The one in this vid is just a length of ribbing fabric like that used for collars and cuffs on windcheater jumpers. We then bought a 12’ Sup cover which is much better.
Found this very interesting. Beautiful old homestead. 😊
The homestead is beautiful and the town really friendly 😁
Beautiful Warrumbungles, thanks for sharing this fabulous vid! Great work guys, loved it. 🥰
Great vid. ya use FREE music ?? what songs have you used in this clip ?
Song credits are in the video
Being an employee of WaterNSW I am very impressed with your knowledge of the lake system and your presentation. The grape industry suffered as you mentioned not from water management but from the Menindee variety being grown in other regions allowing them to bring the produce to market in the same early timeframe from my understanding and not so much a lack of water.
Another great video, thanks for sharing.
@@JohnnyD1305 thanks!
Nice, thanks
@@donfinch862 thanks
Beautiful lake . We just came back from broken Hill to Hill n while staying in broken Hill on last Sunday we planned to go to mendiee Lake for fishing but .. may be next time. Thank for update.
You made hard work of the removal. For anyone else doing it, you only need to remove 6 screws from the base, 4 of which are under the covers on each side. Then lift it off the wall bracket from inside the van and it's out. No need to remove all those small screws.
We realised that after we got it out.
Great Vid... One Day!
Thanks, enjoy when it happens!
We envy you guys, we have done Menindee Lakes and the surrounding area but the only water we saw was at Copi Hollow. Even the Darling River wasn’t flowing. Would love to have seen Menindee Lakes as you have witnessed. There wasn’t even a puddle to be seen when we visited, I think it was about 2014. Great Video!!
Thanks Bev, it was the main reason we headed in that direction, knowing the lakes are full and thriving.
after all the rain out there i thought the roads would be a nightmare
Up until Menindee the road on the eastern side is all bitumen,
Enjoying the video series. Good job, and perfect timing as we're planning to do the Darling River run in a couple of weeks time. It would be handy/interesting if you could give a bit of a review of the road conditions along the way, as we will also be towing a van.... looks like it's mainly bitumen so far. Really like the drone photography/video. What drone are you using, as this is something I've been thinking of getting in to as well.
Thanks for the feedback. Our drone is a DJI Air Mavic 2s. We’ve been trying to put some road feedback in either video or title feedback. I hope you enjoy your Darling River Run.
@@korkeradventures-biglapnom1669 Looking forward to the next installment. Safe travels. Might see you on the road.
Great vid. Lots of info... One Day...
great video well done!
Thanks 😁
We're doing this run with the kids later in the year, thanks for the info!
Enjoy. Conditions change on the run and roads close with rain. Keep an eye on forecasts and road closures
We mounted our paper towel holder vertically so it doesnt come off - a regular rubber band stops it coming unrolled
Thanks for that!
We take the paper towel off while travelling
Thanks
Use a peg to hold the end in place
Thanks
Comment for the algorithm. But that was a good vid. Cheers
Thanks! We appreciate the feedback and the comment!
What poles did you use and were did you get the fittings for the top?
We bought aluminium extendable tent poles and cut off the spike, replacing it with a c clip available at BCF, Anaconda and camping stores.
As well as the larger capacity, I like the simplicity of the Natures Head compared with having an electric motor to move the agitator on the Ogo. That's one more thing which could fail.
100%
Greeat vid.. One day... gottaa do it...
Thank you. There are heaps more silos too, make sure you check out Patchewallock and the Big Drift sand hills
Great vid and informative. We like your relaxed style. Some good shots you showed. The silo painting thing has taken off, a few here in WA too. Seems like you're having a great trip! Thanks for posting, see ya next time. Cheers, Don and Peta
Thanks for the feedback.
Looks good on the Murray. We have only seen it at Albury during our Tassie trips over the years.❤
Nice footage of the trip.Big cheers from both of us.❤
Thanks John & Fiona.
Done a good together
Great Vid... One Day...
Enjoy when you do !
I completely understand. We are only weekend warriors but my husband had]s just had a stroke so in unable to drive so if we want to continue our adventures it’s up to me which is a little daunting. Wish me luck.
Good luck!
Got you as a suggestion, seems alright. Subbed and will watch a few more. Cheers guys
Thanks for subbing
We are very fortunate here in Victoria to go camping up on the Murray for free. horseshoe Bend is not a bad camping ground, and keep exploring. You'll find heaps better. Thanks for video.
Good to know!
if youre heading west along the murray, google search glenos camp on goog maps, youll see it, near cohuna.. my fave camp. check it... gleno.
Looked like an amzing trip - great spot, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Good video Sharon and Pete. We wouldn’t be without ours. A couple of observations. We like the different approach to hydrating the brick. It certainly is easier than breaking it up dry by hand. Given that your ensuite is fairly tight, why not take the whole unit out in two pieces. It would certainly be easier than working in such a confined space. That’s the way I handle ours. Very easy and not too heavy that way. Interesting that you leave a bit of compost behind as an activator. We use the supplied liquid for activation. What’s gonna happen with the hole in the wall? Excellent info!
We had hydrated the brick prior to breaking it up, with the recommended quantity of water but it was till a touch dry when we separated the coir. As a natural material, it won't be an exact science. Thanks for the suggestion, we wanted to see if it could be done and the ensuite is more spacious than most. It is doable, but we were just rookies, with this being our first 'compost' empty.
Looks like a lot of work, I think we will stick to our chemical toilet. Thanks for the vid
It’s easier than it looks. We’re still learning, and it took less time than emptying the cassette overall. They won’t be for everyone, but for us as full time travellers, it’s a lot less hassle!
Multiple trips to the dump point for you then. Composting toilets are the way to go, no question.

Great Vid ... One day.....
The first time I’ve seen one of your videos! Just amazing! I’m hoping that I’ll be able to do this too but have a lot to learn about camping/4x4 driving. Where were the other extreme destinations on your bucket list you mentioned? Cheers
Thanks! We’ve visited the most northerly, southerly, easterly and westerly points of Australia’s mainland. The highest and lowest plus geological centres of the Mainland plus the most southerly, Westerly and geographical centre in Tasmania. Southerly- South Point Wilson’s Prom Northerly- Cape York Eastern- Byron Bay Western - Steep Point Geographical Centre- Lamberts Centre and Johnson’s Centre ( there’s more than one depending on how it was calculated). Highest- Mount Kosi Lowest- Lake Eyre Tassies Southern- South Cape, south of Cockle Creek Tassies Western- End of the World Tassies Geographical Centre- Brontë Park
Thank you very much for this video. I am doing exactly the same, even buying the same brand items as you guys have. Just to confirm - you use this set up whether you're off grid or on powered sites, with the inverter doing its job in either case. I like this idea because then I don't have to bother with power cords at all, just use the anderson plug to run it all through the caravan's battery.
Glad it was a help. Yes we do let the inverter run 😅n an off grid. It’s simple that way.
@@korkeradventures-biglapnom1669 And even when in a powered site using the inverter?
@@Peter.Mericka yep. We run it on power and off grid.
Excellent, just wanted
@@korkeradventures-biglapnom1669 Excellent, just wanted to confirm that. It does make it such a convenient way to use Starlink. Just one more question if I may; can you use the inverter constantly, having it all connected during the day and into the evening, or do you have to turn it off from time to time to give it a rest?
Just beautiful, loved it!!🥰
