Bressingham Hall Farm Pigs
From our farm to your table, experience the essence of pasture-raised perfection. Our Gloucester Old Spot pigs are nurtured on a diverse diet of winter cover crops, ensuring each mouthful is packed with flavour and care. Taste the difference of true free-range pork!
We chose Gloucester Old Spot pigs, known for their docility, intelligence, and hardiness, to revive abandoned land and restore woodlands.
Our pigs graze freely on a purpose-grown field with crops, equipped with an insulated arc and water dispensers between October and April and in the woods in the summer.
Resuming the long-lost Bloom tradition of rearing animals alongside plants, Matt aims at creating a sustainable ecosystem that not only benefits the environment but also provides a steady supply of locally-sourced meat.
By introducing these heritage pigs, Matt hopes to increase biodiversity, control vegetation, and enrich the soil. This project is a step towards a more sustainable future, and it is a testament to the power of nature and its ability to heal and regenerate.

The creation of Bressingham Hall cut Flower Garden
มุมมอง 1762 ปีที่แล้ว
in March 2022 we started our own Cut flower garden by Bressingham Hall, a Georgian Manor we have weddings and holiday guests at. Absolutely organic, it was enriched by a wagonload of well rotten horse manure form our neighbour, all flowers were started from seed between October 2021 and May 2022. We had a minor black aped problem on Amaranth, Fennel did not like manure and did not perform, but ...

I disagree with you. To get flowers again, you need to cut above a double bud.

Good to see Adrian Bloom looking so well. I haven't seen him since he was on Gardeners World with Geoff Hamilton. We did visit Bressingham steam museum and gardens one year, possibly 20 years ago now. We decided to concentrate on seeing the steam stuff first and going on the various trains, as that was what we were mostly going there for. I think there was some kind of steam gala on too, as there was a field full of traction engines there too. So in the end we didn't have time to see the gardens, but it was a great day out.

i would like to create the effect of tier upon tier of hills/mountains receding or fading into the far distance. i could simply get someone to paint a mural on my garden boundary wall, but i'd like to try and create the same effect using plants. the thing is, i would like to do it in such a way as to minimize the loss of valuable planting space. which conifers would you suggest that could be pruned to be almost flat-screen or fan shaped? eg: at most, maybe just a foot 'thick', but many times that longer/wider and taller. one deficiency i've noticed in all the gardens at chelsea and on tv programmes is that none of them have or explore the idea of looking OUT onto a vista or create the effect of looking OUT onto a distant horizon. most people live in cities these days and are hemmed in in a small cramped garden. maybe lots of them would (like me) like to create the illusion or impression of far distance, either using a wall length mural or plants, unless they already happen to be lucky enough to live in a situation where they can take advantage of a real 'borrowed landscape' that they can look out upon. if you look at photo's of receding hills, you realise they fade to lighter and lighter shades the further away they are, ending in almost silvery grey, or bluey-grey. lots of conifers are smokey pale blue or light grey in colour, but i dont know which species is which. lastly, receding hills and even most receding mountains (when seen from distance) have smooth rounded edges, so the conifers i am looking to find, would have to have a smooth non-spikey outline, or be able to be clipped to a smooth continuous (moss-like) surface appearance: think japanese karikomi, but instead of spherical balls, think hill-shaped and very flattened - like a slice of toast placed upright - no more than a foot thick/deep at any point. any suggestions? (this whole idea was inspired by seeing a group of three (4 foot) roughly conical shape box plants planted close together, overlapping each other creating that tiered receding-hills effect.

Absolutely love your garden. Especially the winter garden and the use of conifers. I am gardening in Zone 8b in the rainy Pacific Northwest of USA, very similar climate to yours, except longer growing season. Because we don't have any snow cover in the winter it is really important to have enough conifers, evergreens and other winter interest in the garden. I am being inspired by your design. I am making a public 4 season garden out of the area that used to be all blackberry brambles and vinca major; both major headache to remove. It has been a lot of fun nontheless, and a great learning experience. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, both in the book and on youtube. God bless you!
