that makes me happy that other ppl other than americans enjoy these cars. they are very underated. they got a lot of shit but are actually really reliable and really quick cars for their day. My 1st car was a 1994 camaro z28 which is the chevy version of this car. it had a 350 v8 lt1 corvette engine and a t56 6 speed manual with t-tops. they are great cars! back in 1994 it had 300bhp which was really good for 30 years ago!

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but can you explain the R1 / MT10 engine swap as they are different motorbikes with different engines? Are you using half from one engine and half from the other (to have the high torque from the MT10 and the HP from the R1, or is it something different than that)? I mean, I not even sure if that's possible, but at the moment, I'm confused, haha!

I had a MK2 & stuck Granada alloy wheels on it with a 1600gt engine + a 2000 G/Box it went like Batshit great car & to think I bought a Morris Marina TC in a part exchange 🙄😢

Quite rightly they should be regarded as classic cars today but back in the day they were known as Dagenham dustbins, rust buckets good for 60 to 65,000 miles only. just a couple of points about this example, one being the registration prefix “E” which was issued from the 1st of January only until the 31July 1967. Ford did not introduce the 1600E until October of that year so the correct registration prefix would have been an “F”, Therefore this example may well have started its life as a GT model not a 1600 E. The other is the wheels tec-dale mini-light were not a standard fitment. 1600E’s came standard with Rostyle 5 ½ j weeks with 165-13 tyres. But Nevertheless, a great example, and one the owner should be proud of.

My father had one of these from new, a short while after, the engine blew up and Fords were refusing to replace the engine. It happened that my next door neighbour was a director at Fords and sorted this to my fathers relief. My father did say having had all the Cortinas this was his favourite model.
