Sunday Keeping Doesn't Warrant Changing the 7th-Day Sabbath
The Sabbath School quarterly mentions that,
"Adventists have sometimes shied away from resurrection morning because of the way it is misused to support Sunday sacredness." Sabbath School Quarterly Lesson, Saturday, September 21, 2024.
Some who feel this way might think that whatever is used to support Sunday is a potential threat to the Sabbath truth. But really, even if Sunday could be shown to be divinely appointed as a day of worship, this wouldn't show that the Sabbath has changed from Saturday to Sunday, nor would it show that the command to keep the 7th-Day Sabbath is no longer binding. In today's study, you'll learn why this is the case from an article that was circulated among early Seventh-day Adventists, called "The True Issue," which James White published together with other articles on the Sabbath in 1851.

How Was Jesus Three Days And Three Nights In "The Heart Of The Earth?"
มุมมอง 29หลายเดือนก่อน
How Was Jesus Three Days and Three Nights in "The Heart of the Earth"? Have you ever wondered about the calculus of Jesus' "sign of Jonah" statement? Jesus said, "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the huge fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth" (Matthew 12:40 WEB). This is usually understood as referring to Jesus' time i...
Was There a Bible Canon in Jesus' Day?

Was there a bible canon in Jesus' day? A bible canon is a set list of writings that are considered to be THE list that's authoritative for a religious community. That means that if we want to know if there was a bible canon in Jesus' day, we have to determine if, at a minimum, the Jews were agreed on which books were scripture. Did they have some sort of official list of like, these are the boo...
Does God Have a Moral Standard Outside of Himself?

Why is God's law good? Often, people think it's good because God said it and whatever God says is good by default. While this might initially sound good and honoring to God, we need to consider whether this sort of explanation really makes sense. You Can't Make Sense of an Immaterial Soul | Early SDA D.M. Canright
มุมมอง 433 หลายเดือนก่อน
Are humans dualistic beings - two part beings, composed of a material body plus an immaterial soul? The reason some have this idea is the belief that matter cannot be organized to think, and therefore, the thinking ability of humans must be attributed to something immaterial. This is then used as a basis for the belief in the soul's naturally immortality. If it's immaterial, it has no parts, so...
Can Matter be Organized to Think? | Early SDA D.M. Canright

Can matter be organized so that it can think? Or is there an immaterial part of humans that is responsible for thought, reason, and emotion? The SDA doctrine of the non-immortality of the soul is very well known among SDAs today, but what is less well known is the core reason behind this doctrine. This core reason is really the foundation on which the non-immortality of the soul rests, and it w...

So i recently read 2 John where the bride of the lamb is called an elect lady or chosen. This makes it clear that she is chosen and is real as God says but many do not say she is literal. This gave me much confirmation!🎉😊

      hello @jenelleg9848 :) That is a very interesting verse that I have not looked at in context of the bride of Christ before. I will say that it seems to me like this elect lady is simply a human believer because she is being admonished and instructed. But we have other verses that show that the Bride of Christ is real. And yes, the is a very new idea for many people. It can be hard to accept the scripture teachings on Her for many because of preconceived ideas.

      @sickletrumpeter, let me try to help with your question. Rev. 13:11-18 clearly distinguishes between the lamb-like beast and the image of the beast. I’ll go through it here quickly, inserting [] for clarity. 11 Then I saw another beast that rose out of the earth; it had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon. 12 It [the lamb-like beast] exercises all the authority of the first beast [the leopard-like beast] on its behalf, and it [the lamb-like beast] makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast [the leopard-like beast], whose mortal wound had been healed. 13 It [the lamb-like beast] performs great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in the sight of all; 14 and by the signs that it [the lamb-like beast] is allowed to perform on behalf of the beast [the leopard-like beast], it deceives the inhabitants of the earth, telling them to make an image for the beast that had been wounded by the sword and yet lived; [notice that the lamb-like beast tells the inhabitants of the earth to make an image for/of the leopard-like beast. So we have several different entities: 1) the lamb-like beast, 2) the inhabitants of the earth, 3) the leopard-like beast, and 4) the image of the leopard-like beast.] 15 and it [the lamb-like beast] was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast so that the image of the beast could even speak and cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. [Here, the lamb-like beast does a ritual which causes the image of the leopard-like beast to come alive] 16 Also it [the lamb-like beast] causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, 17 so that no one can buy or sell who does not have the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. 18 This calls for wisdom; let anyone with understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a person. Its number is six hundred sixty-six. This passage is about the lamb-like beast and its activities. It speaks like a dragon, it exercises all the authority of the first beast (the leopard-like beast), it causes people to worship the first beast, it performs signs including making fire come down from heaven, it deceives the inhabitants of earth, it tells them to make an image of the leopard-like beast, it breathes life into the image, and it causes all who worship the image to receive a mark on their right-hand or forehead. The passage only mentions the leopard-like beast in vss. 12 and 14 where it makes it abundantly clear that it is referring to the leopard-like beast by using terms like “the first beast” and “the beast that had been wounded by the sword and yet lived.” Notice also that the word “it” in this passage always refers to the lamb-like beast, except in vs. 18 where it says, “it is the number of the a person” - there the word “it” refers to the number itself. Also, the word “its” is used to refer to a number of different things, like “its inhabitants” (vs. 12) which refers to earth’s inhabitants. Anyway, it is clear that “it” (lamb-like beast) is the one who causes people to receive a mark. Also, while the image is not called a “beast” in this chapter, we know that the image looks like the leopard-like beast since it is an image of that beast. An entity that looks very much like the leopard-like beast is described later in Revelation (ch17). It is the scarlet beast - this beast, the scarlet beast, is the image of the beast which is made by the inhabitants of death at the instruction of the lamb-like beast. The lamb-like beast breathes life into the image, thus animating it and it becomes a beast in itself - the scarlet beast. Hopefully this provides more clarity on this passage. Let me know if you have any further questions on this. I would be happy to discuss this further with you.

    Hi I emailed you guys before but I never got a reply. However, I read writings of her that she wrote about the bride not being a person. So then how can he marry if she’s not a divine being as him? I’m confused and I need some clarification! This is what I read from Ellen g white: But, says one, How could he come where he was already? We must remember that the Bride is not a person, but a City, 12,000 furlongs or 1500 miles square. The central point and fountain of all it glory is the Ancient of days.- Christ doubtless has been personally within the limits of that City ever since his ascension, and when the cry in ‘44 was given he came to the Ancient of Days and the scenes of marriage, which in their amplitude will occupy a great part, it not all, of the Dispensation of the fullness of times, then began. And, as when Christ comes again he will come from New Jerusalem after the scenes of marriage have there begun, every one will see that he will return to earth from the wedding, and we, waiting, will meet him and return with him to the bridal City to share in the festive joy.

      Thank you for the question. This is such an important topic, and we wanted to share it with others. As we mentioned in the study, the Psalms are replete with references to external communication with God, and although this may come as a surprise, Scripture contains many examples and admonitions to pray audibly with our mouths while it contains no admonitions or examples to pray merely in our thoughts. We certainly want to follow the scriptural example for prayer, rather than an example that has not been established. Does this answer your question? Their mark is dept and they have been killing and destroying nations and those who won't take it. We exchange that dept via the federal reserve note. The truth is in our face and in our hand. • @sabbathschoolwithbranchdav5997
      @sabbathschoolwithbranchdav5997 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello @danaschield5090, and thank you for your question. Although we did not address the image of the beast or the mark of the beast in this particular video, I would love to answer your question regarding the mark of the beast. First of all, something being required in order to buy or sell is no indication that it’s part of the mark of the beast. For example, there are many things that are required to be able to buy and sell. If you don’t have money, you can’t buy things. If you aren’t wearing clothing, you can’t go into a store to buy something. If you are behaving in an unacceptable manner while in the store, you’re going to be refused service. But none of these things are the mark of the beast nor are they a part of it. In order to have a business and sell things, you need to have a business license. Without a license, you can’t sell. But having a license isn’t a part of the mark of the beast. Unless we are going to say that all of these things are part of the mark of the beast, consistency requires us to admit that something merely being a requirement for buying or selling doesn’t show that the thing is a part of the mark of the beast. It’s just important to keep all of these things in mind and to be consistent with our reasoning. It’s definitely important to care about not receiving the mark of the beast, so I can completely relate to your mental anguish. But hopefully, what I’ve said so far makes sense. Now then, what is the mark of the beast? Obviously, the mark of the beast is set in contrast to the seal of God. Because of this, it wouldn’t really make sense to expect the mark of the beast to be something radically different from the seal of God in the sort of thing that it is. God’s people are sealed by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13; 4:30) who leads us into all truth (John 16:13). This shows that we are sealed with truths. Another point to consider is that God’s people are sealed in their foreheads which seems to be based on Deut. 6:8 and 11:18. These passages say we should bind the commands of God upon our hand and forehead. In Rev. 3:12 and Rev. 14:1, we find that the name of God, new Jerusalem, and Jesus’ new name are written on the foreheads of those who overcome. All of these things refer to truths, commands, and instruction. Keeping all of that in mind, it makes sense that Revelation 14:9 warns against worshiping the beast and his image and shortly after says, “Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” (Rev. 14:12) Notice that those who keep God’s commandments are placed in contrast with those that worship the beast and his image and receive his mark; so, it follows that keeping God’s law, on the one hand, and violating God’s law to keep the commandments of men, on the other hand, is what distinguishes between those who worship God and those who worship the beast and his image. This, again, demonstrates that the distinctive characteristics of the beast and his image, is the breaking of God’s commandments. This includes the Sabbath of the fourth commandment; but the Sabbath isn't the only part of God’s law that has been under attack. Apostate Christianity changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday; but not only that, they also changed the observance of all of God's festivals. So, Sunday-sacredness is an aspect of the mark of the beast. But, scripture does plainly connect the seal of God with God’s commandments and sets God’s seal and commandments in contrast with the mark of the beast and commandment-breaking. Debt is not necessarily opposed to God's law. For example, In Matthew 5:42, Jesus says, "Give to him who asks you, and don’t turn away him who desires to borrow from you." Obviously, if debt was inherently wrong, Jesus would not here tell his followers to engage in lending. So, it seems as though the criteria of debt would not be part of the mark of the beast. And as far as using currency from a system that is not God's system, in the Gospel of Matthew (22:19-21), there is a passage where Jesus is asked about paying taxes, and he requests to see a denarius: "Show me the coin used for paying the tax." They brought him a denarius, and he asked them, "Whose image is this? And whose inscription?" "Caesar’s," they replied. Then he said to them, "So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s." Again, Jesus does not prohibit using civil currency to pay taxes, and like lending, it's doubtless Jesus would have condemned using a civil currency if it was inherently wrong. So, with that logic, I would say that it is not the case that Debt and the Federal reserve note are the mark of the beast. If you would like to talk more about this, I would love to continue our conversation. One of your best explanations. It is implicitly about the Holy Spirit DAUGHTER. Hence the pronoun “HER”, applied to the angel of mercy.

    Your belief and understanding is therefore that God is three beings, correct?

    • @sabbathschoolwithbranchdav5997
      @sabbathschoolwithbranchdav5997 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, we believe that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three **distinct** beings. They are united in purpose, and in that way They are one, but we do not believe there are three beings in one person as Trinitarians believe.

      @@sabbathschoolwithbranchdav5997, but the Bible teaches there’s only one true God. If the one God is three beings this is a tritheist view and the pioneers of Adventism did not believe that Bible taught tritheism.

      @@PeacefulMoments1844Thank you for that question. I was also confused. I followed all this series. And I agreed to all their presentations. I only thought it was very unusual that the Holy spirit is the person. My question should we worship the Holy Spirit as the Father and the son? I would love to hear more from them. And do they think that the Holy spirit has the fulness of God in him?

      The Word of God and Ellen White both state that Jesus is the Holy Spirit. This is so clear. Yes the Holy Spirit is a person…the person of Jesus. Clearly you are tritheist.

    ELLEN WHITE says all 3 are persons. And she uses GODHEAD not TRINITY. Offshoots from Waco

    • @sabbathschoolwithbranchdav5997
      @sabbathschoolwithbranchdav5997 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello David, thank you for your comment. As presented in the video, Ellen White did communicate that all three members of the Godhead are distinct physical beings. She used the term "Godhead" rather than "trinity." We agree with your comment. If you or anyone would like to know more about us, we have a book entitled, "Waco Untold" on Amazon at the following link: www.amazon.com/Waco-Untold-Koresh-Identity-Davidians/dp/0999802607

    *What's All the Fuss About the Investigative Judgment?* Other than many thousands of people being greatly disappointed, nothing happened on October 22, 1844. We have *a completely unverifiable event* that is so central to the Adventist denomination that it would seemingly collapse without it. So why is this doctrine believed? - The reason is simple. Given that it is a _"spiritualized event"_ that can never be proven by any historical marker, places this doctrine into a safe zone for Adventists. It is isolated from criticism because it is *simply believed by those who embrace it and need not be ever proven historically* . An Adventist will insist that "It just happened in the heavenlies" so it is invisible, and it is a matter of faith in William Miller's calculation. However this particular doctrine stands in _direct defiance_ of the historicist eschatological paradigm which demands real historical markers as proof for correspondence through time.

      Hello @1844.Failed, thank you for your comment. I recommend you watch our study, th-cam.com/video/QNjsFc7HrGY/w-d-xo.html, "Is the Investigative Judgment Scriptural?" I think it will be quite eye opening for anyone who questions the investigative judgment in the heavenly sanctuary. The scriptural evidence is in the video! Many blessings!
