Wow! My new favorite channel! I’m preparing to paint a willow next and this video has been very inspiring ❤ Thank you!
Thank you ! Glad you enjoyed it.
They used to put human flesh in the pumpkin amd light the human fat with a wick as a proof of sacrifice.
I have been collecting bits of pudding stone for years. Walking around the fields after they have been ploughed uncovers more bits every year. Some of them a very interesting, all seem to be different.
@@kevinparker461 it’s lovely to hear that you are doing that, it is a wonderful ancient stone.
#eldenring
In Greece they were important but likely climate change so-called made the ash less susceptible to grow
So much interesting information about this wonderful tree. Thankyou!
It's fortunate that we have people like you, who retain knowledge of the properties of various plants. A lot of what passes for medical science is based upon the uses of plants. The elderberry is one tree we do have here and there in the region where I live. I have noticed in recent years how health food stores have many elderberry preparations, and there are even a few of them in pharmacies. Also, it's a gorgeous tree, with its white flowers and its particular shade of green.
Thank you!
You've really provided a wealth of information on this tree. Knowing a lot of things about it allows for so many uses. I didn't know anything about this tree, we don't have very many where I live.
This really is one of my favorite TH-cam channels
Thank you !
I always enjoy your videos! I have several Rowan trees planted around my house. Such beautiful trees! Definitely my favorite tree.
Thank you! How lovely to have them around your house
As a bushcrafter I stay clear of beech trees. They are known as widow makers for they shed their branches
What a great video. Thank you.
I did 3.5 grams of dried magic mushrooms once on a hill a few years ago, i ended up seeing Odin made of stars in the sky riding his horse with his spear as clear as any Hollywood CGI and a Nymph dancing around me which was completely tree looking with branches and leaves attatched still but had a womans body, there was glowing blue runes pulsating on trees and 30-40 foot slim built giants with spears and shields dancing between the trees and waving me over, it was absolutely unreal and magical and i completely atribute it to the giant Oaks that were growing there that put me in that frame of mind. Ive been facinated with Norse mythology and trees ever since.
Wow! Norse mythology is really fascinating . Especially the stories connected to trees. Hope you enjoy the Ash tree episode as well.
@@OSTENTUM1 Norse mythology really is, the runes have such an interesting way of helping you find a direction within yourself while simultaneously surrendering to the unseen forces that shape all our lives. All your videos are very interesting and you are a good host for this topic. You should do the Hawthorne next, i hear the celtic druids said that any place with the Oak, Ash and Hawthore present was a sacred place.
Very nice presentation on a lovely tree .. Thank you very much from Iraq !

Willow grow seed or stem ? Please Respond
The quickest way to grow willow is from cuttings. It is a fast growing tree so it can also grow from seed, but would take a lot longer.
Okay
bluebells rarely flower under beeches they need oak and oak dont grow under beech
If you go to our episode Bluebells in the wood, you will see that all the trees in the shots are Beech trees. Ancient bluebell woods are well known for their Beech trees. there will be some Oak, Silver Birch etc... Bluebells cope very well under the heavy shade of beech trees where other plants cannot. Hope this helps
I planted basically a stick 6 feet tall 5 years ago. It’s over 25 feet today and gorgeous
Recently subscribed but love your enthusiasm, energy and knowledge of something so very important to the cycle of life. Thanks again.
The whole quality of your production. So reminds me of the late beloved Sister Wendy. Bryan in SoCal
Thank you! What a lovely compliment. Loved Sister Wendy .
Thank you very much for creating this video and including so many mythological references! Super interesting, well prepared and documented. Lovely!
Thank you!
This narrator is nuts. Trees have no souls, neither do they see, hear, speak, breath or listen. That being said I've planted some on my property in Serbia and they have an interesting history much like the Wollemi Pine in Australia.
The stories I narrate about these wonderful Monkey puzzle trees, are from the native traditions. I hope people find them interesting. Our trees are indeed living, breathing and keeping us alive. I am pleased to hear you have planted some. Thank you for mentioning the Wollemi pine.
@@OSTENTUM1 I never said the trees are not "living", please don't put words in my mouth. And they don't "breath" either which is inhaling & exhaling (check the dictionary), however they do exchange c02 for 02 but that's quite different than "breathing". And the O2 they give doesn't "keep us alive"; we still all grow old and die. But I do enjoy watching them grow in fact my wife says I live to plant trees but I think that's an exaggeration.

Great video and you
Don't know whether you will ever see this message..... So I was in the woods the other day, a very special place, and I felt a calling to one particular tree🌳🌳🌳 not knowing it was a Yew tree, or anything about it, I stood and put my hand against a large piece of the tree which had been chopped off. I wanted to give the tree reiki for where the human had taken her limb. I wasn't expecting this, but I felt a surge of love and healing energy move right through my palm, up my arm and into my heart. Having a very natural gift to speak and listen to trees, I heard it say, please look in my undergrowth, I have a gift for you. I looked down in the undergrowth and there was the very arm that had been chopped off. I picked it up and looked at the most beautiful impressions of red, deep dark blood red and brown on its bark. A very heavy piece of wood, approximately 3 1/2 ft by 6 in wide. The tree clearly indicated to me that it wanted me to take it home and I only found out yesterday that it was in fact a Yew Tree. I have often been told by psychics that I have a gift I should be a death doola... so it hardly surprises me that I had this connection to a tree, which pertains to the underworld, death, rebirth and the life beyond the life. I just wondered what you would personally do with this beautiful arm of Yew? Would you make runess from it, or perhaps magical pendants... or do you feel it's just something to hold and meditate with? Some feel it is bad luck to bring it in the house and so it is perched on my balcony in the sun. I do hope this is a good omen and a genuine gift from the tree and I would love to hear your thoughts. Using could be negative in any way please be honest with me to help me make an informed decision as to how to work with the tree gift 🌳🌳🌳 Thank you for your wonderful video. ❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing your experience in the woods. I would definitely leave it outside of the house. This will represent a form of protection. Because it was from the woods and not a graveyard it will be ok. Sometimes when you feel a connection to something in nature, there is usually a good reason for it. Place the wood outside you front door if possible , if not then on your balcony.
Keep up the great work!
I am half way through The Magic Arts in Celtic Britain by Lewis Spence, it is full of this type of information. I had always wondered about fairies, Lewis says that they have the same attributes as the dead alike not good enough for Heaven and not bad enough for Hell, so they are between worlds. Basically, they are the same as the dead spirits of ancestors that lurk around during the Five Days of New Years - Halloween. Maybe that is why Smurfs are blue, I doubt it, I watch Little Red Ridding Hood cartoons just to see if any get it correct and they don't, probably because cutting out grand ma, mom, and the kid are a bit too much. BTW, they represent past ages of the Sun with destruction and Impact Winter between.
Fairy lore is complicated, but it is fun. The stories are truly fascinating.
I'M collecting every branches of magic tree any kinds of trees that has a mysterious energy come from nature also stones❤
Interesting.
Um.. wicca aint history yet.. still recent in this age unlike celtic and pagans that been for ages since mediaeval day's. I might be confused tho 🤔 I do confuse things together with other thing's if been long time that I learned
Such a beautiful tree.
Very interesting, thanks very much. So much information about this wonderful tree. Subscribed for more. Best wishes.
A very interesting video, we're lucky enough to have an ash tree although due to its cramped growing area I don't think it will be growing quite as large as the ones you show. Thanks for the video.
Thats history….in nature 😊👍👍 The magical and legendary stories about ash trees are wonderful too 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 I love trees….I think they see….over hundreds years….whats going on around….every tree has a spirit….especially the old trees. The Hardy tree is astounding and is poetic connect to Thomas Hardy…and…the importance of the Ash tree 🌳 😊😉
Fascinating and interesting insight into a truly wonderful tree, thank you.
amazing thank you for your work!
Do the Elm Tree
Yes! It is on our list.
The claim that 'many' yew trees in churchyards predate the churches and by inference were planted in pagan religious sites is not backed up by botany and archaeology and is based on the flawed calculations of one Allen Meredith in the 1970's. The vast majority of yews in churchyards were planted at the same time as the construction of the churches.
I found a lovely old Beech tree in the Highlands ,in the woods near where I lived,I called it the Druid tree,it was beautiful ,so pleased to learn more about these lovely Trees.
In Swedish beech is bok. A letter is a bokstav.
Thank you for sharing.
I imagine the spirits of all the local trees welcoming the spirit of a monkey puzzle tree with a banquet
Greetings from Ireland.Just found your wonderful series on trees and subscribed.❤🌲🌳🌴
Thank you !
"The first attempts at writing were scratched onto bark from beech trees." I'm sure she's wrong about this derivation of the word "book". The German word for letter, (of the alphabet) is 'Buchstabe' lit "beech stave/staff/stick". Before paper, people would write on beech strips or split sticks, more practical than bark.
Old norse is Bok. Middle English Bok, From Old English boc " book , writing , written document, generally referred (despite phonetic difficulties ) to proto-Germanic - bok (o)- from bokiz beech ( source also of German Buch" book" Buche beech. I hope this clarifies it a bit! They also wrote on beech wood tablets. There is quite a lot of cross over names. It's all very interesting but a bit mind boggling !
Bio fuel.. they are burning acres of trees and saying its eco green????
Not all created equal. We have an American walnut here in Canada not much nut but the squirrels like em.
Would love to hear the song of the beech❤❤❤❤❤
