My friend just lost someone very dear to her, and it's kicked up a lot of strong emotions in the both of us these past few days. This is one of my very favorite Agalloch songs, and the one that introduced me to the band years ago, but tonight it holds extra meaning. The world can be cold and unforgiving, and life can prove difficult in the best of circumstances. It only takes one night, one decision, for someone truly special to be gone forever. You were taken for granted by those you needed the most, and met their intolerance with kindness and understanding. Rest easy, Logan. You've done more than could be asked for more people than you know, and you will be remembered.

The beauty of this song is incredible, and I really find myself crying when I realize the low pitched bang in the background is the sound of wood axes hitting lumber.
