This takes me back to my daughters first Christmas 31 years ago. She had a nasty cold so she and I stayed home on Christmas Eve when the family gathered at grandmas. I rocked her and watched this program. The best Christmas Eve ever.

Flatfootedly is making this a parody of Colin Dunn. It's everything from the waist above and also this general imprecision about him. I watched the 1996 classic first (and always) and it's impossible not to compare every other version with that one. (Though everyone else in this 1995 recording is great.)

This stunning, beautifully written/illustrated/told story has been part of my life for around 30 years. Having just watched a video relating the death of a young family man, lost attempting to cross the Tasman sea in a canoe, I was minded of Tom’s words to Mouser. It should be he who should go out fishing, not a young man with a wife and young children. Would that he had heeded such a message.

Irish dancing was outlawed by the British during the Penal Days. This is what creating the step dancing you see today in Riverdance.

This makes Michael Flatley's stuff all seem so corny and kitsch.

Some welcome changes/addtions in the dancing and music compared to 1995. Where they really blew it is the camera work. This camera people can't focus on the image for 10 seconds, too many camera angles, too much zooming. These are dancers, not jetski commercials, slow down and let us see their dancing. Hire back the camera crew from 1995!
