C5 galaxy flying over one of our fields
This field is under the approach to one of mcguire afb's runways so we get a lot interesting sights like this. The wind messed up the sound at the end. Its a lot louder in person! For those who don't know, the c5 is bigger than a 747!

IH 1086 mowing rye with NH discbine
มุมมอง 22K13 ปีที่แล้ว
After two weeks of daily rainstorms (or at least it seemed like it), the sun finally came out and so it's time for baling! What I'm mowing in this video is rye, which will be left to bleach out and eventually baled to be used for bedding in the barn stalls of local horse farms. The mower is a NH model 1411 making a 10 ft cut. Not my greatest work with the camera this time around.. guess it's be...
IH 4186 plowing snow
มุมมอง 7K13 ปีที่แล้ว
Here are some clips I took of the 4186 plowing snow. The reason for the plow tripping towards the end was from hitting the chunks of ice that were left from the previous snow storm that we had a few weeks ago.
Steiger pt270 and IH 4386
มุมมอง 62K13 ปีที่แล้ว
Today we were down to our last 15 acres of ground to be worked up and planted in winter rye. I finally remembered to bring my camera with me and get some 'footage' of the steiger and the 4386 working. The steiger is pulling a 24 foot IH 770 offset disc and the 4386 is pulling a 24 foot IH "Vibra-shank" field cultivator and brillion packer. The ground we were working was soybean stubble.
IH 4386
มุมมอง 9K14 ปีที่แล้ว
This is our 1976 IH 4386. The basic frame and cab of the tractor was built by the steiger co, which IH owned a share of. IH provided their own final drives by using two rear sections of a 1486. The tranny is a standard 10 speed used in trucks. It's powered by a turboed 466 with an intercooler putting out about 175hp although this particular one has been turned up to be around 200hp. In this vid...

Disking with this 4186 being run by a friend of mine. Tractor has since been sold.
1206 pulling a roller harrow
มุมมอง 8K15 ปีที่แล้ว
Brought the 1206 out and put the duals on it to prep some ground for an alfalfa seeding. Hopefully by this time next year, the paint will have a little bit more of a shine to it..
steiger pt270 at work
มุมมอง 3.4K15 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the true work horse of our operation. This is a pt270, which the "pt" stands for pto. These tractors were equipped with a 1000 rpm shaft that was powered by a large hydrolic pump that runs off the front of the engine which gives this tractor a slightly longer nose then steigers that don't have this option. The tractor is powered by a cat 3306 and is coupled to a 10 speed road ranger whi...
IH 1086 pulling krone hay tedder
มุมมอง 7K15 ปีที่แล้ว
Tedding some alfalfa with a krone 6 star tedder being pulled by the1086. The other tractor shown at the end is a 5088 pulling a 10ft NH 1411 discbine.
IH 3588 2+2 working ground
มุมมอง 36K15 ปีที่แล้ว
This is my 3588 pulling an IH 19' 475 disk. I bought this tractor 2 years ago with a bad t/a and clutch. It actually isn't much worse to fix a t/a on one of these than it is a regular 86 series. The disc is in the shop being painted right now and is for sale because I'd like to get something bigger to pull behind the 4386.
My dad had a 4166 IH, on spring time he was pulling an IH disk which was either 33´ or 36’ feet wide. What a great tractor it was at that time.
People who have never harrowed hard ground don't have a clue.
Mop
so if t/a is bad you cant use the tractor ?
IV blown the internal hydraulic pump in my 3588 (dad gave me ours on my 18th bday so I love the Snoopy's) and haven't bothered fixing it as it's a hard part to find in Australia. Just the noise made me want to get her going again
To me, running a tractor all day like this isn’t really work. It’s a complete joy.
New here. Thinking about purchasing a 1410 discbine so curios on how they run. Love the 1086. What a great classic. Thanks for sharing
When I was a kid, I got shuffled from a Case 1370 to one of these IH beauties. Quite a downgrade in comfort. No fond memories of these IH tractors at all.
Bet she’d pull 13 or 15 shanks
1206 the best
Krone tedders are built very good, like all there equipment! Just like the IH Tractors! 👍
Looks pretty familiar. We have a Steiger st-250 and 2 IH 4386 tractors.
Love the spin up sound on these mowers!
Any issues In these tractors? They built heavy enough? Can the engine be turned up and still hold together ?
My dad turned his up to 300hp+ turbo would glow red at night with a 1 foot candle out the stack. Ran it like that for years never had a problem
How are these tractors? Any issues? Was thinking about buying one and turning it up a little.
Sounds nice. I've got a 4166
I was told by 2 different owners of these type of tractors that the center pivot pins and the pins on the steering cylinders were a weak point?
They were if you didn't keep them greased.
Ok
They put out 175? Are you talking about at the drawbar?
DETROIT
No detroits in either tractor
2 awesome machines!
Two awesome steigers in one field
She's a lookin' good and a pullin' hard there.
good video !!
Very nice!
I wish my grandpa didn't sell that 4166 he had.. this is literaly some of the first vids I've seen of any other working tractor.. the rest I've seen were halff rust n scrap
Nice sound ! :)
ohh mannn does that sound good. almost like a Rolls Royce Merlin but a little bit raspier. and a tad deeper. IH diesels have always sounded good.
Huge IH fan. nice tractor
This one actually has a cat 3306.
the pt270 has that old cummins diesel so it wont sound as loud as a jd or a case ih
That’s not a cummins
cool video
Thanks! Yes, completely normal. It is actually an indication that the linkage for the dump valve for the t/a is adjusted correctly if the light comes on when you press the clutch.
Great video! I noticed that when you put the clutch in the trans oil pressure light come's on, I just brought a 1086 inter and it does the same thing. Is it something these internationals do?
Cavitation has been the demise of a good many of those 400 series engines. I think the only reason the 361 in the 806 and 1206 lasted so long was because they were dry sleeved and didn't have this problem. Nice thing about a 2+2 is if you have to work on the motor, it's so easy to get to. As long as the crank is good, no need to split the tractor or pull the motor!
Very nice tractor!
My parents use to have 2 4386's. I loved using them in the field and they sounded nasty pull n a load with a straight pipe.
why no duals?
beautiful !
How much did you pay for that tractor?
@michaeljp86 It didn't work when we first bought the tractor, but it now works the best out of any of the other IH's we have with a/c.
Does it have air conditioning?
@Smonhaut I just love getting comments like this from kids who read something on the internet and think they're all of a sudden equipment experts! Well any time you'd like to come over with a shovel and prove how you can do a better job with that method, be my guest. I'm sure after about 5 seconds of that, you'd be more then happy to get in my 'bad' 2+2 just to make sure it and the disc can't do the job...
@farmerjon1206 I know the big whites they built were pretty much all semi truck parts. I guess it was a new design of a tractor so the companies worked with what they had. Seems like useing a truck transmission would be good for finding parts or even updating the transmision. I think some of these big tractors even had automatics.
@michaeljp86 Thanks! It's got a 10 speed transmission like you find in a truck. Can't really shift on the go when working, but when moving down the road you can start off in a lower gear and shift up to 10th.
Nice tractor, is it just a 10 speed gearbox or is it some kind of shift on the go transmission?
@zman4ish I think it's a '78. The tractor has been sold and I don't have the serial number to look the year up.
what year is that tractor?
@ih1206 Yes I did! I will hopefully have a clip up of it soon.
Nice machine. Did you get the paint shining yet?
Beautiful Tractor . and I like the decal ...... Nice job
