...... I don't even know how this happened. I'm really happy with this time, but I'll be going for 43. Drove Redbeard and Johnny WR, then got nervous on Baron but I was able to get rid of the nerves and just enjoy the run for the last 5 races. I need to practice TIT :(

sub 59! Spent 8ish hours over the last 2 days experimenting with 3 different chassis and a handful of different 1-4 brick combos. I like this one. Back heavy car is almost necessary to tilt back at the start, and having it unbalanced either left or right helps with the speed trick on the upslope. Laps: 23.36, 18.26, 17.11

:D Happy to be back on '99 for this category, I missed it. I've been running so many half dead runs to my awful Baron split thinking "surely this time I'll get even just half of my time save" and finally it happened. Going into a 7:43 Gypsy is a nightmare though, I'm really happy I was able to keep the run alive to have a chance at Rocket. I'm kind of sad about the last lap of RRR, I got gifted...

The dream is 539 but this is cool too. I got the rng I suspect is good enough for 112 on IGP but I had a relatively poor first lap so it wasn't even a 113. MMM choke killed it though :']

Genuine curiosity here. I played the hecc out of this as a child, right, and I always thought that car building was purely aesthetic. Is it, or does it actually change how cars behave?
It changes the physics for sure. I'm actually not too familiar with 2001 version (the one in this run), but on 1999 more bricks is more weight which is more speed. You can unbalance the car by putting more bricks on one side or to the front or the back. The more bricks you have on your car, the more speed you keep when decelerating from above top speed (warps, any turbo) if holding accelbrake. The less bricks you have the more speed you have exiting warps, but you can't hold the extra speed for quite as long.
man. what a scrappy run despite being WR. that annoying RNG can really kill runs. not that there is much rng here but "random" with how the ai drivers take bricks sometimes. there is so much time to shave off here. if one just manage to get perfect green+white bricks without the ai drivers ruining it.
It definitely adds up over the whole run. I'd like to get a clean run someday
Damn lucky, the shortcut being shot open on DAD lap 3 just before you got there! It was cool to see how you got back on track after being behind for a while as well. Awesome run!
Thanks! Believe it or not I knew the shortcut would be opened because I heard Redbeard pick up the last white brick for the missiles, that's why I didn't even bother with the red brick.

🥲 I heard them being picked up on IGP and I could have taken an extra and done a different first warp on lap 2, but I was greedy. Lap 2's bricks at the hairpin is Robn's fault (and l3) and the other ones were Johnny x_X

I'm pretty sure it is. I was going to try to beat the game without touching any powerups at all, but I think the final race is too much for that

Haha thanks, I'll be careful! :D That comment stems from the physics being very different in the 2001 version (the only version the lap skips work on) compared to the 1999 release that I usually play on (Any% Glitchless and everything else I do). Its slightly very annoying sometimes x_X

Nice! Ice Planet Pathway was one off the hardest for me because half the time I tried to warp (by the blue shield generator brick) my warp would glitch and not even get me past the starting line, completely wasting a boost.
Sometimes if I don't have enough speed I warp into the floor and get softlocked, killing the run :(
