But which is its best gaming headphone, we have two contenders, the Razer Barracuda x and the Razer Backshark v2 pro. So let’s see what the two headphones have to offer.
The Barracuda x is one of Razer’s latest releases the company still sticks to its low-price high-value mantra and the Barracuda x emulates it. The Razer Barracuda X is super lightweight when compared to most of the other gaming headsets. Weighing at 250g, the Barracuda X is 40% lighter than the Corsair Virtuoso Wireless XT, and 30g lighter than the Logitech G733, which is Logitech’s lightest headphones.
This makes the Barracuda X ideal for people who tend to use their headphones all day. This emphasis on all-day use is highlighted by a lot of the headphone’s design. Apart from being all plastic, the headphones compose of mesh fabric for their ear pads similar to those of the Razer’s BlackShark V2 headsets.
These pads manage heat around the customer’s ears very well, and they are very soft so you would not feel any discomfort during long hours of usage. The headband is adjustable and offers the right amount of tension without causing any discomfort. The Barracuda X provides smooth connectivity and is compatible with all devices, however it is not compatible with Razer’s Synapse app. The headphone sounds great during in-game battles, and smoothly emulate the PlayStation 5’s 3D audio feature.
The Blackshark V2 was one of the best gaming headsets of last year, the Blackshark V2 pro is just a wireless version of its predecessor. The headphone has a sleek design with a glossy black finish which is a bit different from the matte finish its predecessor had.
The V2 Pro comes with a memory foam earpad wrapped under a mesh fabric, preventing any kind of heating issues after long usage of the headphone. The headphone features a mic mute button, a power button, and a prominent volume knob on the left side of the headphone.
Similar to any wireless gaming headset in the market, the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro connects to your PC or console using a 2.4 GHz USB RF dongle for lag-free wireless audio. However, the makers have stuck with micro-USB for charging, unlike other wireless gaming headsets who have switched to the more prominent USB-C for charging. Using the BlackShark V2 Pro is pretty simple.
It doesn’t take too much time to adjust the headphone as their hinges have a decent range of motion, so different head shapes would not be an issue. The power button and mic mute button look pretty similar, but one has a much higher profile, so you will know the difference upon touching them.
The Blackshark V2 pro is compatible with Razer Synapse 3, the V2 Pro has a pretty decent battery life, lasting up to 24 hours on a single charge. The V2 Pro is a bit heavier than its predecessor due to the larger battery which is understandable as it is a wireless version.
The V2 pro much like its predecessor produces an accurate audio output, with the headphone killing it in the midrange, while the company has given more emphasis to the bass in the V2 pro as its bass response is much better than the V2 model. V2 Pro is compatible with all devices and consoles, although the Razer Synapse doesn't seem to add any extra features it still doesn't hurt to have them as an added bonus.
So which is the ideal gaming headphone, Well, it is up to you, to be honest. Both the headphones offer similar features with differences in only little aspects. So to be honest it comes down to the budget if you want to go for the cheap and best route the Barracuda X should be your pick hands down, at 10,800 INR it is the best buy for all the features it has to offer.
If you have some extra bucks to spend and want some additional features, then do not hesitate to go for the Blackshark V2 Pro, with the Razer Synapse getting regular upgrades it will only improve your gaming experience. The Blackshark V2 Pro is priced at 20,000 INR and in my opinion, it justifies its price tag.
