    Good morning from Arizona, it's great your showing us how to identify poison ivy and not with a app, because if I'm in the forest, I would rather use my phone for emergency calls instead of identifying plant, thank you so much ❤❤❤❤

      You're welcome. I grew up in Arizona. I miss those desert rains. I'd also prefer not relying on an app, although they make some good ones. I appreciate it!

      And when poison ivy is endemic, your mind needs to be able to identify hundreds of plants as you walk. Ideally you don't even want to get urushiol on your shoes...contaminated shoes are no fun. Not realistic to "app" thousands of plants to identify the hundred poison ivy plants.

    • @TrueFreedomPermaculture
      @TrueFreedomPermaculture 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Although I picked the calendula, I did let it dry out completely. Dried is better. You want the least amount of water possible, so it doesn't spoil.

    If you cut it just above ground level , it will come back & regrow . Also if you put some plastic downpipebover it , it will blanch the stems & force the plant up .

    If you add tea tree oil to this would it prevent mold and or bacteria during the infusion process? if so how much tea tree should 1 use?

    • @TrueFreedomPermaculture
      @TrueFreedomPermaculture 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good question. I haven't added tea tree oil, so unfortunately I can't give you an answer but I'm not aware of a reason why you couldn't try it. Since it's going on your skin, you wouldn't want to add too much since tea tree oil can be an irritant. I think as long as you make sure your calendula is completely dry, and any containers you use for infusion are completely sterilized and dry, you wouldn't need the tea tree oil.

    Thanks for the video. How do you reduce the sprouts growing through and hence getting stuck in the lid? You might be interested that I use a stainless steel mesh domed cover on the Mason jar (if you're headed away from plastics). Dome pointing inwards so no water splashes when filling. Then drain on astiankuivauskaappi (open version over sink and in front of window) for instant draining, sunlight and nothing extra needed.

    • @TrueFreedomPermaculture
      @TrueFreedomPermaculture หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're welcome! As far as the sprouts getting stuck in the lid, I don't seem to have that problem too much (maybe a few here and there), but I think it gets resolved when I give them a good swirl in the water. Keeping the sprouts tilted at an angle might help too? Thanks for sharing about your stainless steel method, it's definitely something I'd like to consider!

    • @SeekingBeautifulDesign
      @SeekingBeautifulDesign หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TrueFreedomPermaculture Thanks...I do keep the jars at an angle, but that allows some roots to touch the mesh and start clinging. Maybe horizontal if really well drained.

    I heard a story from a Herbalist about how he had sprained/bruised his thumb and it was throbbing with pain. He previously realized that Hops are in the same family as Cannabis. When he put those two things together he realized that hops remove pain, just like Canna does. He put a few drops of Hops oil on his thumb and as he was closing the bottle the pain was gone. Please note that Hops does not contain the anything that could make you high. :)
