Portsmouth high ropes course at Clarence Pier in Southsea. It sits at the end corner of the pier to take advantage of the views of the Solent and the hight of the pier.

Had an Ambassador day to promote what we have to offer in Southsea. Which as part of this we took a trip to the isle of Wight and back where the Captain kindly let me sit on the bridge with him. A child hood dream come true. As part of the day we also went to The Royal Marines museum, D day museum, Southsea castle's yellow kite cafe for tea and cakes, Mozzarella joes for lunch, the blue reef aq...

Great video. I wished I could be sitting up there. I did have a ride on it, but as every passanger in the passenger area. Now I have shipsim here with the AP188. But I wonder how exactly is it controlled. From the sim I know the utmost lieft levers are the throtles for the lifting fans, and the other two are for forward, idle or backwards thrust. In the sim there is a small steering wheel that controls the rudder blades behind the big thrust fans at the rear. And there is a small turning knob that controls the bow thrusters (turning pipes). But in this video I did not see the steering wheel. And I know from other videos that the bow thrusters can be moved independtly frome eachtother. Are there also paddles?

Marc van der Linden: I think you'll find on the AP1-88, the rudders are controlled by foot pedals which the pilot can move to the left or to the right instead of a wheel. These pedals operate in the same way as a wheel, pivoting on a central hub, but obviously operated by the pilots feet instead.

AP.1-88 rudders are controlled by the Captains feet on a Rudder Control Bar. Same as an aircraft.

GadgBoy313: You can hear the pilot at the beginning say on the radio "QHM (Queens Harbour Master Portsmouth), Freedom 90, departing Ryde".

Nice video. I did this crossing up in the cockpit back in early 1998 when Hovertravel were running the former Scandinavian Air Systems craft Idun Viking.
