It was agreed upon beforehand that I’d pre-stage 1st, let the other car pre-stage, build boost, stage, and I’d stage right after. I pre-staged, other car pre-staged, other car built boost, other car staged, and I was instantly fouled out. Nothing is hanging low on the front of my car, it has black non reflective front wheels on it, no leaks/issues with my car. Raced it all season last year, and...

      It would most likely have gone quicker revving it higher, but we were always concerned about the valvetrain in that engine. It was a comp cams 306 hydraulic roller, with stock lifters, stock pushrods, and even stock stamped steel rocker arms on stock 3/8" studs. We chassis dyno'd it once, and there was an 80 hp loss from 6300 to 6700 RPM. I think the port in the head was at its limit with the cid and RPM. The car probably would've been quicker with a 355 in it VS the 383, keeping all of the induction parts the same.

    Damn bro, thats an impressive ass pass for 330whp.. It's a stock t56? Im expecting over 400 from mine before the turbo and built trans, but mines 3300lbs w 12 bolt, all bmr, 7pt moly Wolfe... I'm looking for someone to tune the 94 pcm, and in Ok. Do you have any good recommendations? Rather go to Texas than Ed Wright in Tulsa, jmho..

    • @hotrods1083
      @hotrods1083 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I dyno’d it on a stingy dyno with the slicks on. It would probably show considerably more on radial tires and with a more mellow rear gear in it. It was a 100% stock LT1 style T56 in this video (just an aftermarket clutch). As far as tuning goes, I wouldn’t even consider not doing a 24X conversion or an aftermarket EFI system. Finding a decent tuner that has equipment for an LT1 this day in age is tough for sure

    • @mavsformulaful
      @mavsformulaful 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hotrods1083 I'd def have to guess it would make more than that on most dyno's. Stock heads? There are stroker LT's running 9's n/a, but I'm sure they're approaching 480w, or even more, on an avg dyno jet.

    • @hotrods1083
      @hotrods1083 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mavsformulaful I'd guess it would've shown 380-400rwhp on regular tires with, with less rear gear, and on a happier dyno. Dyno numbers are not really comparable from car to car, or dyno to dyno. ET/MPH at a given weight is what really tells the story. I think my car would've needed another 125-150hp, another 5-600 usable rpm, and possibly more rear gear to run 9s N/A at 3150lbs.

    Nice times. I am running 383, 12.3 compression, LE2 H/C, 3.73 gears, headers, 3600 stall, bolt ons, drag radials, everything else is 100% stock. I have a convertible plus my fat ass puts it at 3800 lbs. I am running 12.26@111 at 2200 DA (DA corrected 11.97). That is on the mail order tune. I am told it should be faster, idk. Like to get a dyno tune but no one around here will dyno tune these old cars.

      I hear ya, it gets outta control real fast. If you're willing to cut a little and give up the creature comforts, you can get light enough to run your number with 350-375rwhp, mine made 330rwhp (dyno'd on slicks). Not hard at all to get these things to hook hard. If you need any help or tips with chassis set up lemme know, id be glad to share info.

  • @stantaviouslockhart9321
    @stantaviouslockhart9321 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank a lot it's been hard for me to get any good feed back about the lt1 , I just recently bought a 95 camaro z28 . I'm getting ready to build the motor and turn it into a 383 like yours. Was thinking about a ls but can't afford the swap everything over and add hours power to it . Who did you get to tune your engine I can't find no one near auburn Alabama to touch a lt1 engine

    • @hotrods1083
      @hotrods1083 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly for what you'd have into a built LT1, you could do a budget 6.0 swap with a cam and make as much if not more power. Mine had a 383 in it from a while ago, I did the heads, cam was in it already etc... Lloyd elliot is tough to beat for the money as far as top end parts go, I would think with one of his packages you can get 10 second power in a well sorted out car and still be pretty drivable. In the same respect, a cam swapped 6.0 with stock unported 799 pickup truck heads will easily run as fast (or faster) than a built LT1 stroker. Tuning the LT1 is another big drawback, only a couple of people doing mailorder tunes, other options are 24X conversion with an LS1 computer or carb/distributor.

    • @bryanmayes9234
      @bryanmayes9234 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are on a budget there is nothing wrong with an LT1. I ported my own heads and put a small cam in it with valve springs that i got off a guy on kijiji cheap, deleted emissions and A/C gutted interrior, ebay headers and jones 3"exh off ebay which i welded up myself and the car already had 3.73's and a posi/k&n intake. We have a terrible altitude here and the big shot racers say we lose a second from sea level i ran a 12.811@106.50mph with out a tune. Cam is a crane 227 and im pretty sure first gear is going in the 4l60e oh i had a Yank ss2800 converter

    • @user-ci7cg7tf3o
      @user-ci7cg7tf3o 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      mann.. i would just go carborated with the lt1 because then you can tune it youself.. or if you dont know how. there is for sure more people out there that know how to tune a carborator and hei distributer, than an obd1 computer for the lt1. my 385 lt1 is caborated. has a vic jr single plane intake and 850 carb. makes 570hp 490tq at the motor
