Everyone is correct the instructions say just close the lid do not lock it also the omelette was cooking for too long hope this helps let us all know how you get on with the cooker taking on board our advice. Jean from 🇬🇧
Actually, it tells you what an idiot you are. The instructions that come with the cooker state, several times, in capital letters, DO NOT LATCH WHILE COOKING.
It just makes me laugh. Does no-one read the instructions anymore? It states in the instructions DO NOT LATCH WHILE COOKING! The steam can not escape so then we have a build up of steam until it explodes. There are instructions for a reason, please read them for your own safety.
I have a couple of these never lock it and had no problems at all. I do pancakes in it to and over easy eggs. Mistake is locking it you can hear steam building up.it doesn’t tell you what sort of product you have it tells you its user error any idiot knows steam will build up. Lady your stupid.
Yuck look at the cooking spray ! 100 years old.....This is your own stupidity of locking it. Take this idiotic video down! Your attitude is ridiculous.. jokes on you goof. What do you want to do??? ......Sue the makers of this, because you didn’t read the directions properly?
Probably throwing up after it realised the state your kitchen was in. Funniest bit was when you picked up your ‘clean’ plate off the floor.. was that actually scripted for comedy value?! Don’t usually comment but had to. 😂
A. Clean your kitchen, it is disgusting that you even live like this. B. Take a class so you can learn how to read because the instructions are pretty clear on not closing the latch. I realize you probably will not see this comment as you don't know how to read but hopefully a kind relative or friend can read this out to you.
That product IS dangerous because it is a bad design on so many levels people can get hurt. Sometimes people read the instructions but there is a NATURAL disconnect between what the instructions say and having an apparatus that has a locking device staring at you saying LOCK ME like you lock every other cooking utensil that has a lock eg a toasted sandwich maker. Also, the mind says, this lock is staring right at me and screaming at me to lock it because: (1) I am putting food in and some of it is liquid that I need to flip and locking it stops food from seeping or falling out and (2) locking it one would naturally think that it advances the cooking process, top and bottom like a toasted sandwich maker and (3) if a lock is right in front of you, it is natural to assume it is there to be USED. If a teenager, not to talk about an elderly adult, was using this it would be very dangerous on so many levels. You shouldn't need to flip anything. They say it had hot plates in both the top and bottom of the device. They should be using materials that are heat proof to the touch and they should be eliminating any possibility of the gadget exploding by taking into account people that omit to read or carefully read the instructions.
Well your first problem, as others have already stated, was locking the latch. Says in the instructions. Do not lock shut. The other problem is flipping the device over. It cooks top and bottom, so flipping isn’t necessary.
There should be no problem if he doesn't lock it while cooking. Where there is moisture and a seal, there is going to be pressure build up. That's what's happening here. I only lock it for storing. There is also no need to spray it, it's very non-stick, maybe just a little bit of butter for flavor. I use it and just ordered another one a few minutes ago. The only thing that I don't like is that it doesn't have auto shut off. I'll hate to forget to unplug it!!
Ma'am, you really are not suppose to lock the lid while cooking! Years ago I used a sandwich maker and it said the same thing.Things "GROW" as they cook! I'm sorry people are being so unkind to you.
Read the instruction paper/manual HOW TO USE #6 and the WARNING box directly below about the lock. See if this helps you any. Click on the link below. I understand that since we got our Red Copper 5 minute Chef the company has added a Warning sticker on the machine to help prevent blow up's. Still I would not have children near it while cooking just to be safe. If you think about it the steam has to go somewhere remember how dangerous the old stove top pressure cookers were. Good luck :-) cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0005/6187/2954/files/Red_Copper_5_Minute_Chef_Instructions.pdf?16012327988458650970
Actually you had a lot of time to unlatch it and put the omelette on the plate, all that pressure built inside the machine is why it blows open, have you ever look and see the omelette cooking while it's on, I actually have no problem while not going by the instructions and the timeset, I also mix my ingredients with the egg, still no problem.
You are not supposed to lock it. I have made many omelettes and they taste fantastic! I also have made over easy eggs and they taste just as good and have also made hamburgers and steaks in there which take a little bit longer than 5 minutes but just as good.
Please follow the instructions. It’s clearly says don’t lock it while cooking. I got this gadget yesterday and cooked many things including omelet. I never had any problems. Please don’t blame anything without knowing it. Try again without locking it. All the best. Greetings from Scotland
Came here to say this. That kitchen is disgusting and unsanitary. The most dangerous thing in that kitchen is the fucking salmonella coating the countertops not the exploding omelette maker.
The book tells you not to lock it .that's why this happens. Read the book the machine is safe
You are t supposed to lock the lid !
Stupid people can get hurt for sure.. DON’T FLIP IT, EITHER… it cooks top and bottom at the same time..! OMG…
DO NOT LOCK..!! READ THE INSTRUCTIONS…!
Everyone is correct the instructions say just close the lid do not lock it also the omelette was cooking for too long hope this helps let us all know how you get on with the cooker taking on board our advice. Jean from 🇬🇧

Mine is perfectly fine..Nothing wrong with the product..I DON’T LOCK IT AND I DON’T FLIP IT....SIMPLE!
I wasn't expecting her to turn the whole thing over.
It's a sad day when you spend 7 mins to see an omelette explode!! 😂😂😂
Yes it does explode. I just thought that was part of the user experience and adapted with safety goggles and a flak vest.
WHY DO PEOPLE NOT READ INSTITUTIONS
Your not suppose to lock the latch you morons!

From what I'm reading the first ones released didn't say anything about not locking the lid now they all do

😂 I came to the comments just to say that
You locked it and let it cook past tue cook time. Of course the steam buildup is going to pop the lid off.
Crikey. Many thanks for posting this video, my dad just bought one this morning, he's taking it back before opening the box

Just wondering, any of these seen to have popped after you unplugged it, so it's Cooling down and causing a vacuum, perhaps open it then unplug.?
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Good grief how stupid can you be. Also maybe more schooling since you do not know how to spell right.
You are missing a question mark after the word "be" and a comma after the word "also". Oh, and you're missing a verb after maybe!
@@ArtistVicki aw, the fucking Grammer police are here. Go fuck yourself

It did that because you are NOT suppose to lock it. Try cooking without locking it like the recipe booklet says.
How daft can you get even without reading the instructions common sense would say don't lock it as eggs expand when cooking. Doh!
I know it s so dangerous. But in teleachat they lock machin
Your not supposed to spray it with non stick spray
nah that tells you what person doest read instructions
was a problem with the first lot we got one and now say do not lock
lol i loved your response Mike....I needed a good laugh today thanks but yes it does say do not lock latch when on :)
You are not supposed to lock it. I have made many omelettes and they taste fantastic! I also have made over easy eggs and they taste just as good and have also made hamburgers and steaks in there which take a little bit longer than 5 minutes but just as good.
it says to lock it. I watched others do reviews on this and they all locked the device too.
Mine came last week with a safety sticker on it saying NEVER to llock it during cooking.
Please follow the instructions. It’s clearly says don’t lock it while cooking. I got this gadget yesterday and cooked many things including omelet. I never had any problems. Please don’t blame anything without knowing it. Try again without locking it. All the best. Greetings from Scotland
You aren't supposed to lock it.
I have this and the instructions say NOT to clip it closed while cooking...
Clean your kitchen you inbred mongoloids.
Adam Smith IKR! I thought the same.
